CHICAGO (STMW) – A man was killed and at least 17 other people have been wounded in shootings across the city since late Friday. Another man was found beaten to death and a woman was fatally stabbed over the weekend, bringing the city’s homicide total to 300 for the year.

Adrian Sianez, 24, was fatally wounded in a gang-related shooting Sunday morning in the Gage Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Sianez was in the 5500 block of South Mozart about 3:40 a.m. when someone got out of an SUV and started shooting, authorities said. He was shot multiple times in the back and once in the buttocks, police said. Sianez, of the 5700 block of South Rockwell, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 10:11 a.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.

A man thought to be in his 20s was found beaten to death Saturday morning in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side. Police initially had reported that the man had been shot in the head.

The unidentified man’s body was found in the 5100 block of South Ellsworth Drive about 7:05 a.m. An autopsy Sunday determined he died of head injuries resulting from a beating and ruled his death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

Police are questioning a person of interest in the fatal stabbing of a woman during a domestic dispute at her Lower West Side home Sunday morning. Joanna Lopez, 26, was stabbed at her home in the 1700 block of West 21st Street about 6:45 a.m., authorities said. She was dead at the scene.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, and if ruled a homicide, the death would mark the 300th murder of the year in the city.

In other weekend shootings, a man was seriously wounded in a shooting along a CPS Safe Passage route on the West Side about 4:45 a.m. Sunday. The man, whose age was not released, was in a vehicle in the 3900 block of West Wilcox when someone on the street started shooting, police said. He was shot multiple times in the chest and leg, and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.

Genevieve Melody Elementary School is on the same block, and a Safe Passage route runs along that portion of Wilcox, according to Chicago Public Schools.

About 3 a.m. Sunday, two women and a man were shot in the first block of West 114th Street on the Far South Side. A 25-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were both taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. The man was listed in critical condition with gunshot wounds to his abdomen and leg. The woman was shot in the hand, police said. Another 27-year-old woman was shot in the foot and taken to Roseland Hospital, police said.
