Trump links death of Dwyane Wade's cousin to black vote

Trump links death of Dwyane Wade's cousin to black vote

Updated 7:27 PM ET, Sat August 27, 2016

Washington (CNN)Donald Trump tweeted Saturday that tragedies like the death of NBA star Dwyane Wade's cousin are one of the reasons African-Americans will vote for the Republican nominee, later adding that he can "fix" inner-city problems.
"Dwayne Wade's cousin was just shot and killed walking her baby in Chicago. Just what I have been saying. African-Americans will VOTE TRUMP!" he tweeted, misspelling Wade's first name.

Trump later deleted the tweet and posted an update with Wade's name spelled correctly.
He later added, "My condolences to Dwyane Wade and his family, on the loss of Nykea Aldridge. They are in my thoughts and prayers."

Aldridge was fatally shot by a stray bullet Friday afternoon while pushing a stroller down a street in Chicago's South Side. The child was not injured.

Trump also commented on Aldridge's death Saturday at a rally in Des Moines, Iowa.

"Just yesterday, the cousin of NBA star Dwyane Wade, a great guy Dwyane Wade, was the victim of a tragic shooting in Chicago," he said. "It breaks all of our hearts to see it. It's horrible. It's horrible and it's only getting worse. This shouldn't happen in our country. It shouldn't happen in America."

"So we send our thoughts and prayers to the family and we also promise to fight for a much, much better tomorrow," Trump added.

Neither Wade nor his agent responded to a CNN request for comment on Trump's remarks.

Trump has taken to Twitter after past tragedies when he believes they confirm ideas he's proposed in his speeches. In the wake of the Orlando terrorist attack in June, Trump tweeted, "Appreciate the congrats for being right on radical Islamic terrorism, I don't want congrats, I want toughness & vigilance. We must be smart!"

    'I will fix it'

Trump has cited problems in American inner cities as a reason why he believes African-Americans should vote for him. Speaking in Des Moines, he said crime and poverty in urban America "offends my sense of right and wrong to see anyone living in such conditions."

"They are living in terrible, terrible conditions -- beyond belief conditions. Bad," Trump said.

As he ticked down a list of poverty and crime statistics -- deploring in particular the numbers of shootings in several major American cities -- the Republican nominee bashed Democratic policies and argued that "it can't get any worse."
"To those suffering, I say, vote for Donald Trump. I will fix it. African-Americans, Hispanics, vote for Donald Trump. I will fix it. It will be fixed. And I add -- and I add it in all sincerity -- what do you have to lose?" Trump said.

Trump vowed inner city residents under his administration would see job prospects rise and neighborhoods become safer, though he has offered few specifics as to how to achieve those outcomes.

    Kaine criticizes

Hillary Clinton's running mate, Tim Kaine, criticized Trump for his initial response linking Aldridge with the African-American vote, saying the only appropriate response to Aldridge's death was sympathy.

"We just ought to be extending our sympathy to the family. That's the only reaction that is appropriate right now and maybe a sadness about this gun violence issue," the vice presidential candidate told reporters in Miami Lakes, Florida. "You see something like this and it's just, we should redouble our efforts to really adopt and promote smart strategies on that. But the sympathy issue is the one that ought to be our strong first reaction."

Other Democrats -- including Clinton -- have criticized Trump's tone and rhetoric about African-American issues as insensitive and have questioned his commitment to black voters. A recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows Clinton beating Trump 91%-1% among African-Americans.

For some reason the Democrats and Trump Haters didn't think Trump should have tweeted about this murder. Of course he should have, it illustrates as well as any what is going on in Chicago, and why black Americans aren't safe walking down the street, why black women aren't safe walking down the street, and this is the cousin of a famous basketball star, who wasn't safe walking down the street of Chicago with her baby in a stroller.

One of the big problems within the black community is that successful blacks who have been able to make it vote Democrat, which to no surprise lets down most black neighborhoods throughout our country, but especially in our inner cities because the policies you support don't make any progress of significance worth speaking about to solve the problems of poverty, unemployment and crime in these areas affecting these people. Instead you support illegal aliens stealing their jobs and businesses and depressing their wages.

You know, during our slavery period, blacks owned slaves. So there is a portion of our black upper class community that may have inherited this notion that once you're economically above someone else, then you are humanly above them, and entitled to a modern slave of your own to clean your house and mow your yard. After all, some think and believe without racial lines, that in order to have an upper class, you must maintain that lower class.

Successful black Americans need to think about what they're doing to our country by voting as a block for Democrats and policies that grow the lower class in order to enrich a small elite upper class. Republicans never did that. We did the opposite. Republicans never liked Elites, we consider them harmful to our Republic and counter-productive to our belief that all men and women were created equally and deserve equal protection under the law, and that means all laws, including US immigration law, that exists to protect US citizens of all races, creeds, and ethnic origins, no matter where you live, no matter what you earn, no matter what "class" you think you're in.

And Donald Trump is such a Republican, a breath of fresh-air, returning to the original principles and goals of the Republican Party.

    GO TRUMP GO!!!
