Angry Trump supporter shot at Cleveland bar during heated political debate

Paul Jones, Jr., a Donald Trump-supporting veteran, is recovering from a gunshot wound after he said a man who disagreed with his political beliefs opened fire on him inside a Cleveland bar Monday. (WCPO)

By Jessica Chasmar - The Washington Times - Wednesday, July 27, 2016

A Donald Trump supporter is recovering from a gunshot wound after he said a man who disagreed with his political views opened fire on him inside a Cleveland bar Monday.

Paul Jones Jr., 60, said he was at his neighborhood bar Winston’s Place near E. 131st Street and Miles Avenue at about 6 p.m. talking politics with a friend, a local ABC News affiliate reported.

Mr. Jones, a Vietnam veteran, said he was discussing his support for Mr. Trump as president when another man voiced his disagreement.

“Somebody who was butting in on the conversation,” Mr. Jones told ABC from his hospital bed. “The conversation wasn’t directed at him or to him.”

Mr. Jones said the man got visibly angry and stormed out of the bar. He came back armed with a gun, Mr. Jones said.

Cleveland police said the man shot Mr. Jones in the thigh and fled. Detectives are still searching for the shooter, who will be charged with felonious assault if caught, ABC reported.

“I’m quite sure you have a lot of people having their own opinions. But that doesn’t mean you should hurt somebody because you have your own opinion,” Mr. Jones‘ mother, Latosca, said.

Mr. Jones is expected to make a full recovery, the station reported.

Poor Mr. Jones! The crazy left is out of control. It not only stages violence, it is violent. All these DemoQuacks and other Anti-Trumpers are wacko-birds.

Thank you for your support of Donald Trump, Mr. Jones, and I am so sorry that your political stance got you shot!! It's outrageous, but I am so happy you are recovering. God Bless You.

Man Who Shot Black Trump Supporter in Cleveland Now in Police Custody

    by WARNER TODD HUSTON
    8 Aug 2016
    Cleveland, OH

A bar patron who shot an African American Trump supporter last month has finally been taken into custody by police in Cleveland, Ohio.

At the end of July Paul Jones, Jr., 60, was talking politics with the other patrons at a Cleveland bar when another drinker in the establishment apparently took offense that a black man could be a Trump supporter.

The assailant left the bar and came back moments later. It was reported he opened fire with little warning. Jones was wounded in the leg as a result.

“People today,” Jones’ mother Latosca told the media at the time, “if you don’t think like they do, they are ready to cause problems.”

“I’m quite sure you have a lot of people having their own opinions. But that doesn’t mean you should hurt somebody because you have your own opinion,” the victim’s mother added.

Initially the shooter walked out of the bar unidentified. But now the suspect has turned himself in to Cleveland police.

On Monday, 45-year-old Darnell Hall was charged with felonious assault in connection with the July 25 incident.

Hall, though, has a slightly different version of the shooting. Through his lawyer the suspect insisted that he didn’t really intend to shoot anyone but the bartender grabbed at his gun and it unexpectedly went off, wounding Mr. Jones.

The man did admit that there was an argument over Donald Trump, though, saying that he fully disagreed with Jones’ support of the GOP nominee.
