US police kill gunman who opened fire on Mexican consulate

US authorities have shot and killed a man who they say opened fire on police headquarters in Austin.

The man also targeted a US courthouse and the Mexican Consulate, Assistant Police Chief Raul Munguia said on Friday.

Officers were searching the suspect's Austin-area residents for possible explosives.

Police did not immediately confirm whether the man, whose name was not immediately released, had explosives.

The gunfire was reported early on Friday morning, Munguia said, and some bullets hit police headquarters.

Both the consulate and courthouse were closed at the time of the gunfire.
"An officer outside the building saw the suspect, fired at the suspect, the suspect went down," Munguia said.

Officers then saw what appeared to be an improvised explosive device in his vehicle, and that "the suspect was wearing some type of vest," Munguia said.

Police said they were trying to determine a motive for the gunfire, which shut down a stretch of Interstate 35 for hours.

Oh crap, they are going to blame us. I knew when I saw the headline that this would be very bad news for us!

If they want to start the blame at the beginning, they can blame John Adams, and many others, right ?

After all, this common sense "rhetoric" about immigration has been around from the beginning of our nation. And, of course, rightly so. We are a sovereign nation with a territory and citizens to protect and defend, and the federal government has failed to do that.

They can blame anyone they want, but they can't arrest ANYONE.

The gunman is dead, and they can't arrest dead people,
and no one else committed an overt act for which they can be arrested.

This puts the government on notice that the people are feed-up.

The shooter who allegedly fired over 100 rounds and was later killed in a gunfight with Austin police has been identified at a Larry Steve McQuilliams, 49. Police had earlier stated McQuilliams was an Austin, Texas resident. McQuilliams allegedly went on an early Friday morning shooting rampage, discharging over 100 rounds from an automatic or semi-automatic weapon.

McQuilliams was identified to Breitbart Texas in an email in response to an inquiry. The department spokesperson tweeted out the message shortly after that confirmation. At about 2:20 a.m. McQuilliams allegedly began a shooting an arson spree that led to the burning of the Mexican Embassy and shots being fired at that building, the U.S. Federal Courthouse and the Austin Police Department headquarters according to a WFAA report.

After being shot at by Austin Police Sergeant Adam Johnson, McQuilliams fell to the ground. Moments later, officers approached McQuilliams and found him wounded. It is not clear if he was struck by Sgt. Johnson’s bullet or if he shot himself after that. Officers were unable to render aid to McQuilliams due to a vest he was wearing that appeared to contain possible explosives. Suspicious canisters had been found moments earlier in his vehicle.

By the time the bomb squad investigated and cleared both McQuilliams and his vehicle, McQuilliams had expired.

A search of McQuilliams Facebook page does not reveal any apparent motivation for the shooting at first glance. He appears to be a theatrical person who also participates in Renaissance festivals with a kind of Yule Brenner appearance. He is seen posing with a large group of women wearing Middle Eastern dance apparel.

An initial search of the page did not reveal any anti-government sentiment as speculated on earlier by Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo. Nor does there appear to be any firearms related posts other than a photo of the Dalai Lama he posted last week. That photo overlays a satirical quote, "If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun." the quite is attributed to "The Dalai Lama, Famous Gun Nut."

He does, however, appear to be skilled with swords as part of his Renaissance performances. On Wednesday, McQuilliams changed his profile photo to that of a statue of what appears to be a Roman soldier.

His final post on Facebook occurred about an hour before the shooting began where he posted a Tarot card of The Hierophant. The card is considered to be a Guardian Angel according to one interpretation. The Hierophant is said to strive to bring peace and harmony amidst a crisis. The Facebook page appears to have been created in November of 2011.

I don't care who they blame. What do you think is going to happen to us when we're the minority in our own country. They're going to kill us. It's the unmentioned law of Mexican invaders. Atzland groups are to kill every male over 16. Just the men. God knows what they want to do with our women. It's time we start storming points of interest with our message. We need our side heard. No one is going to take up for us. It up to us. Time to act. Talking has gotten us nowhere.

What I mean by us being blamed is that the media could come after organizations like ALIPAC and NumbersUSA. It hurts ALIPAC to be portrayed as advocating violence when we absolutely DO NOT advocate violence. I understand people's frustration with how things are going right now, but ALIPAC as an organization needs to stay on the high road.
