Thread: What's the latest on the Hate Bill?

This afternoon Senate liberals tried to attach so-called "hate crimes" legislation S.A.2067 to the defense department authorization bill H.R. 1585 by a unanimous consent agreement, but Sen. John McCain objected. Moments later, Sen. Ted Kennedy took the floor and explained that he was trying to attach the hate crimes legislation to the defense bill because, "…The defense authorization bill is dealing with the challenges of terrorism and the hate crimes issue…We're talking about domestic terrorism…"

Unless we resist now, a thought crimes bureaucracy like those regulating Australia, Canada and Europe will soon rule America. In these nations, federal hate laws have destroyed citizens’ rights to free speech. Punishment of politically incorrect bias is the ultimate goal of this legislation. Democrats support hate laws and their control of Congress means almost certain passage—unless enough Americans protest.

A national hate law would shatter Americans’ First Amendment rights, which are now sadly unique among Western democracies. We would lose our precious freedom to express politically incorrect ideas, moral judgments, or whatever personal convictions the reigning thought police deem “hateful.â€

Senate Votes To Add ‘Hate Crimes’ Amendment To Defense Bill!

September 27, 2007 – The U.S. Senate voted today to add the Kennedy-Smith hate crimes bill to the Department of Defense Reauthorization bill.

The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act (Kennedy-Smith, S. 1105) will add “sexual orientationâ€

And if anyone thinks it is going to be easy to fight illegal immigration with a hate crime bill out there , think again, they will use this against us the same as they do the race card (which isn't working), only worse, this you can go to jail for! We need to read the text.

These Liberals and special interest groups are looking for something to use to shut us up and they will have a very good chance with this.

Does anyone know if it passed today?

Thats a relief it isn't what I thought it was , I keep expecting them to try and come up with something that will shut us up, which isn't going to happen. But after Feinstein just did that "Fair reporting" or what ever it was with the talk radio stations it worried me.

I do think she did scare some of the talk radio off with it to!

I'm sure if this comes to pass it will be used to try to silence those who oppose illegal immigration.
