    What's up with Tancredo and...

Tancredo Introducing Legislation On Illegal Immigration
    http://www.americanchronicle.com/articl ... leID=32057

    Mike Warner
    July 13, 2007

"Rep. Tom Tancredo and Presidential hopeful, announced that he is getting ready to introduce his own legislation on illegal immigration. "Throughout the immigration debate, out of touch amnesty-only critics of enforcement have tried to hide behind their cry of 'what is your solution?' Well this week we will show them and the president what immigration reform should look like and what the American people deserve," Tancredo said in a statement announcing the proposal.

The Optimizing Visa Entry Rules and Demanding Uniformed Enforcement (OVERDUE) bill, will seek to

    1. Limit immigration to traditional levels and seeks to assimilate those already here.

    2. Encourage illegal aliens to leave on their own.

    3. Eliminate chain migration.

    4. Tighten the employment based green card category.

    5. Limit anchor babies to only giving one parent citizenship.

    6. No in state tuition to legal aliens.

    7. Require federal immigration authorities to assist state and local law enforcement in enforcing immigration law.

Rep. Tancredo says the final bill will be submitted to Congress late this week. Personally it sounds a little wishy washy at this point. My main problem so far is with keeping the anchor baby "situation", but only allowing the anchor baby to "sponsor" one parent for citizenship. In becoming a citizen of our country, you must swear loyalty to our country. It does no good to force immigrants to become citizens, just so they can bring in more relatives. If the anchor baby sponsor's a parent and that parent becomes a citizen, the parent will then be able to sponsor anyone they want to immigrate to our country. The only thing that changes is, who will bring in the new immigrant, the parent or the baby. I have a hard time believing, that with Bay Buchanan on Team Tancredo, they did not think of this already. Now I kind of wonder, just how serious Rep. Tancredo is about this subject?

To me, it is starting to look like there is a good reason Rep. Tancredo is not doing very well in the poles. His whole platform for president is based on illegal immigration and even he seems at time to waffle on his beliefs. The image that keeps rolling through my head is of Mexicans, waving Mexican flags and marching through our streets in protest. If they had marched in protest waving American flags, asking to given the chance to legally become Americans, I would feel different. It is obvious they feel no loyalty or desire to become loyal Americans. Let them go home and protest the sad condition of their own country."

    ................
    5. Limit anchor babies to only giving one parent citizenship?

My questions are, how can an anchor "baby" sponsor any other illegal alien for citizenship, including a parent until they become legal age, as in old enough to read, write or enter any kind of contract anyway?

And, doesn't the government already allow these "babies" to sponsor a parent, by becoming an anchor baby?

And why on earth would Tancredo suggest sponsorship by an anchor baby, over stopping the abuse of the 14th amendment in the first place? Which I was under the impression he was calling for.

QUESTION: Once the baby is "allowed" to sponsor an illegal parent to stay with him/her, how long before THAT person can then sponsor another?

I don't believe that Mr. Warner is correct in his assertions about Rep. Tancredo's legislation.

I believe this legislation will help reduce the number of illegal aliens coming to this country.

The official press release from Rep. Tancredo's House office regarding the legislation does not contain the proposal about which Mr. Warner complains.
