Who Are These Gangsters & What Do They Want?

I thought this was an interesting list of gangs. I think many are active in Oregon.

What are they looking for? Where are the parents in all of this?

Why are so many minorities mentally messed up? I mean minorities have had preferential treatment for close to 50 years now. What do they want, blood?

Also, check out their graffiti in Oregon. They are like dogs marking their spots. http://www.myspace.com/522419436/photos

It's an alternative, underground economy. It's not like the schools are all that interesting, the cops profile them like crazy, they can't get jobs, but the world of crime welcomes them and there is spending money to be had. Also protection from other gangstas, which if you aren't in a gang, is a problem. If you are an adolescent in certain areas, you can't just sit out gangs and be neutral. They won't leave you alone.

And, the White supremacist gangs are white.

If theirs that many in Oregon then you can bet there's that many or close to that many in all other large cities in the US. smaller cities too. Like Americans don't have enough to worry about!

That is a lot of gangs,is it not?
I would assume most of these people are single parent children and some are actually older adults themselves.

THey have some of these on GANGLAND on the History Channel

It has been said that some do not wear their colors so they blend into the public.

Not just cities. I live near a little town and they have a Hispanic gang there. I had asked the Sheriff about it.

As someone with a background in gangs and gang enforcement I can tell you alot about it. I have seen alot and have had gang related driveby shootings only a few blocks from my place. The reason often times mothers don't say anything is because the gangbanger kid helps pay the bills. I have seen it where other men want to teach the boy what he is doing is wrong and his behavior is unacceptable but the mother won't allow it. The one kid was 7 years old when they tried to get him into the gang to be a lookout and the teacher told the motherand once again she did nothing. In fact the mother told me the teacher was lying. I had to explain to her that she was not. Other times the mother is too afraid once they are in the gang. Many kids hide it and the parent or parents only find out when the police come knocking on the door. The reasons they get into gangs is different in some ways between blacks, hispanics and asians. Many black kids see the gangmembers have money, fancy cars, jewelry, designer clothes, etc. and see their mother is struggling or if there is also a father present that he works hard and can never make what the gangmember can. Hip hop culture also portrays the thug lifestyle as glamorous. Many gangbangers are hip hop artists or have hip hop record companies in South Florida especially the Haitian gangs. Whereas many hispanic gangs and asian gangs originally were the result of those kids having been picked on at school and/or having grown up fighting in a civil war as teens or witnessed extortion, torture and killing on regular basis and the power those people had. In Toronto just like in New York and cities in California the Vietnamese gangs used to extort poeple in China Town and torture or kill them if they did not comply. Now many of the hispanic and asian gangs are in it for the same reason as the blacks.

This city is just a block away from me in one area and 3 blocks in another. They are ruthless and we have shootings that occur there and in areas of unincorporated Miami Dade County that surrounds it. There was an undercover North Miami Beach police officer who lives in the unincorporated part that they shot at at his residence. I heard him hit the panic button on his police radio and scream for help! One of those gangs was also responsible for the murder of a City of Miami domestic violence detective. He arrived at his ex's apartment and two Haitian gangs started shooting at each other hitting and killing him. They caught them and they are being deported after their sentence is served. I think that one will be shown on A&E's The First 48.

North Miami Beach police making gang awareness a priority

Nov 16, 2010 (The Miami Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- NORTH MIAMI BEACH, FL -- Before hosting a workshop to inform the community on gangs and violence, North Miami Beach Police advertised on the city's website -- and in local schools and funeral homes.

"We have a problem," said North Miami Beach Police Chief Raphael Hernandez. There are 130 documented gangs in Miami-Dade County, he said and 13 operate out of North Miami Beach.

At a meeting Nov. 10, law enforcement officials and gang experts delivered a clear warning.

"We have zero tolerance for criminals and gangs," Hernandez said.

The message to the community was both parts informative and a call to action.

"I hear often that we don't have enough young men of color to mentor our youth," said Laura Kallus, director of PanZOu Project, a North Miami Beach-based outreach program for gang members and at-risk youth.

Of the 13 known gangs in North Miami Beach, 11 are Haitian gangs, one Hispanic and another predominantly African-American. In North Miami Beach, gangs usually name themselves after local parks or streets that double as a place for drug peddling, police say.

"Gangs kill people," North Miami Beach Detective Alex Morales said.

While no one at the meeting denied gang violence and activities requires a tough response, officials also called for increased intervention and prevention at home.

Family members, friends and social networks can serve as buffers from gang involvement, Morales said.

North Miami Beach Detective Jodi Schuster said through a partnership with local schools, authorities have been able to successfully prevent and mediate tense situation when feuding gang crews take their beef to school grounds.

"Yes, there are gang members even in the elementary schools," Schuster said.

Students were cautioned about hanging out with gang members.

"Your whole life can change by a stroke of our pen by documenting you as a gang member, " Morales told the audience of about 40 people which included students from local schools.

For nonprofit social agencies like PanZOu, Kallus said a constant challenge is receiving funding to keep the program running.

"A lot of times when we say we work with gang members, people say they'd rather donate to another cause like the Humane Society," Kallus said. "It just doesn't pull at your strings the same way." In a video clip shown to the audience depicting Palm Beach gang members, a young man raps, "Been thuggin' since I was a youngin' so it's nothin.' " But North Miami Beach Councilman McKenzie Fleurimond, who grew up in Little Haiti and witnessed the burgeoning gang scene, asked audience members not to be dismissive about the possible consequences they may face if they choose to get involved in a gang.

"A lot of my friends who I grew up and went to school with either got killed or ended up in jail," he said.

The gang members who were responsible for the death of that detective did not get and receive the death penalty......that was our first mistake.

I don't think the case went to trial yet so there was no sentence handed down yet. I know some of the shooter's fellow gangmembers and rivals will be deported once their sentence is served as they plea bargained. In a way I would rather see them serve life in prison here even though it costs us money. The reason is that way we know they won't come back.
