WHAT? La Raza is racist? Where is the SPLC?
Fascinating, very, very long article about the SPLC and La Raza tied at the hip at CIS.org website.

    Here's another one for you.
The word Latino refers to those who come from a country where their language is directly desended from Latin also known as the romance languages due to their direct desendence from the Romans.
There are four such languages, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.
All of these languages originated in Europe!

Many people incorrectly translate our name, ‘La Raza,’ as ‘the race.’ While it is true that one meaning of raza’ in Spanish is indeed ‘race,’ in Spanish, as in English and any other language, words can and do have multiple meanings. As noted in several online dictionaries, ‘La Raza’ means ‘the people’ or ‘the community.’
I'm not sure I have ever seen doublethink expressed so starkly.

If they seriously wanted the organization to mean 'the people', why didn't they name it 'la gente'? Oh, that's right...it's not politically expedient to acknowledge the original racialist roots of the organization, and to rename it would acknowledge said racialist roots. La Raza shouldn't be ashamed of who they are; just come out and admit it. That would spare everyone this pathetic ritual of 'really we're more tolerant than you'.

Why do you say that? The National Council of The Race is not racist. Hmm, isn't that an oxymoron?

How do you know this? Are you a member of La Raza?

That's funny, I didn't know the Minutemen were extremist. So La Raza's belief they are the "Cosmic Race," i.e. Master Race, is LESS extremist than the Minutemen, who simply want us to have a secure border and end illegal immigration???
Oh great now I have to be a member of the La Raza in order to know about them?
I know a lot about Mexicans and Catholicism and I'm neither Mexican nor Catholic.
Why are you reading about La Raza anyways? Maybe you secretly want to be card carrying member :P

La Raza is not made up of one or two people. There are a lot of people that have belonged to that organization including one of our own Supreme court justices. I'm sure that there are some wackos in there that believe that they are the cosmic race or believe in crazy stuff like Aztlan.
I'm also sure that its safe to assume that there are some members in there who could care less about that whole cosmic race thing.
I speak Spanish pretty well and know a lot about Mexican culture. I have traveled throughout South America extensively. I know a thing or two about the word raza and its meaning and lost in translation meanings in English.
