NC already does this at the state level. This looks like it extends the process to county and city levels.
Two questions.
1) Its been over a year since they mandated it at the state level. I have not heard a word about whether it is working and if anyone is actually using it. How is it being monitored, audited, and policed? How will the state audit/monitor/police at the county and city level? I assume many will just ignore it.
2) What is "or a similar verification of work authorization program"? Would I9 continue to fall in that category?
But why stop at contractors doing business with State/County/City? Go all the way and mandate it for every employer. Doesn't Arizona mandate it for every employer?287(g) + e-verify + SSN no match = Attrition through enforcement
