This is a great letter to the editor pointing out the craziness of the Z visa. This might be something to spread around the internet as it explains in simple terms what a shame this all is. It appeared in our local paper today.

The Z-visa reward

This is in response to the June 18 letter to the editor titled "Myths and facts about the immigration amnesty bill" by Wallace A. Streich of Zion. I would like to add a few more myths and facts:

- If you are an American citizen who engages in identity theft for any reason, you go to prison for at least two years. If you are an illegal who engages in identity theft, you are granted amnesty and the government will issue you a Z-visa as a reward.

-If you are an American citizen and get paid cash without paying your income taxes, you have violated the IRS laws and you go to jail for tax evasion (just like Al Capone). If you are an illegal and have not paid your income taxes for years, you are forgiven and the government will issue you a Z-visa as a reward.

• If you are an American citizen and as part of your punishment for breaking the law is that you have to pay a fine, you must pay the fine (regardless of cost immediately). If you are an illegal, you will have eight years to pay off a $5,000 fine and the government will issue you a Z-visa as a reward way before it is paid off.

• If you are an American citizen and you commit a crime, from misdemeanor to felony, you must serve (even if you have young children or other dependents) your jail sentence (even if you are pregnant). If you are an illegal and have violated the immigration laws prior to Dec. 31, 2006, you are forgiven and the government will issue you a Z-visa as a reward.

-If you are an American citizen and you have committed a felony (child molestation, criminal gang affiliation, identity theft and so on), the authorities will come after you with a vengeance and punish you to the maximum extent of the law. If you are an illegal and have committed a felony, all you have to do is sign a promise that you will behave yourself and the government will issue you a Z-visa as a reward.

- If you are an American citizen and you have already served your jail sentence as a felon, most employers will not hire you, or will fire you if they find out later. If you are an illegal (even if you have committed murder, rape or arson back in your country of origin or on American soil), most American employers will hire you and ask no questions. And most American employers will not conduct a background check on an illegal worker.
