Barbara Gonzalez, spokeswoman for ICE, said the raid was executed because of a tip from a Howard Industries union member.
Employees are being interviewed, and if they are found in violation of U.S. immigration laws, they will be moved to a facility for processing, Gonzalez said.

No one is being let in. One car has left the Howard building since reporters have been on the scene.
Two men wearing camouflage near a car inside the gate at Howard Industries are guarding it. The camouflage uniforms bear the ICE letters, indicating that the guards are with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
No one will make any comments at the Ellisville location, either from the company or ICE.
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Federal immigration agents raided a major manufacturing plant in south Mississippi on Monday, but it wasn't immediately clear how many illegal workers were taken into custody.
Barbara Gonzalez, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman, said the target of the operation was Howard Industries Inc. in Laurel, a town of about 18,000 people located about 85 miles southeast of Jackson.
Howard Industries produces dozens of products, ranging from electrical transformers to medical supplies, according to the company's Web site.
"This is a targeted enforcement operation that is part of an ongoing ICE investigation that has revealed that illegal aliens are employed at Howard Industries," Gonzalez said from the scene.
"Because the operation is still under way, an arrest total is not available at this time."
A recording at Howard Industries on Monday said the telephone switchboard was closed. A man who answered a phone call from The Associated Press at the company's security station said "no" and hung up when asked if there was anyone available to discuss what had happened.
Gonzalez said public health service officers were on the scene to interview and evaluate the condition of the workers to determine if there are "any humanitarian concerns we need to be aware of."
"Humanitarian concerns will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine if an alternative to detention is warranted," she said.
Gonzalez declined to tell AP how may agents were involved in the operation, saying "that's law enforcement sensitive information.
ICE says people whose relatives were detained can call for information: 866-341-3858. _________________ How's that "hope and change" working for you now?

Maybe the good pastor needs to be reminded that being in this country illegally is a crime. and so is using false or stolen SS# and people's ID is also a crime. Maybe the good pastor needs to be remineded that the only people to really blame are the people who did this to themselves and their family _________________ How's that "hope and change" working for you now?

ICE raids plant in Laurel, Mississippi
By HOLBROOK MOHR - Associated Press Writer
JACKSON, Miss. -- Federal immigration agents raided a major manufacturing plant in south Mississippi on Monday, but it wasn't immediately clear how many illegal workers were taken into custody.
Bill Chandler, the executive director of the Mississippi Immigrants Rights Alliance, an advocacy group, said the number of arrests could be in the hundreds. That estimate could not immediately be verified. People coming out of the plant told The Hattiesburg American newspaper that so many illegal immigrants were arrested that the plant had to be shut down.
A recording at Howard Industries plant on Monday said the telephone switchboard was closed.
Billy Howard, the company's chief executive officer, did not immediately respond to a message left by The Associated Press. A man who answered a phone call at the company's security station said reporters would have to call back Tuesday and speak with someone in the personnel department.
"ICE has created a major humanitarian crisis," Chandler said. "There's children that won't have anyone there when they get home from school because their parents have been arrested. They're creating a major crisis."
Gonzalez, the ICE spokeswoman, said public health service officers were on the scene to interview and evaluate the condition of the workers to determine if there are "any humanitarian concerns we need to be aware of."
"Humanitarian concerns will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine if an alternative to detention is warranted," she said.
Gonzalez declined to tell AP how may agents were involved in the operation, saying "that's law enforcement sensitive information."
Howard Industries was founded in Jones County in the 1960s.In 2002, then-Gov. Ronnie Musgrove called a special Legislative session in which lawmakers approved a $31.5 million, taxpayer-backed incentive plan aimed at helping Howard Industries expand its operations. The state required the company to create 2,000 new jobs - 700 by 2007 and another 1,300 by 2012.Billy Howard said at the time that he wouldn't have been willing to invest $80 million of the company's money into the expansion if there wasn't a quality work force in the area.
"Without the type of employees that we have in Mississippi, this would not be possible. Mississippi has people that are very trainable," Howard said in a July 2002 interview. At the time, Bob Rohrlack, who was then the executive director of the Mississippi Development Authority, said if Howard falls short of employment goals, the state will take away $3,000 for each job that was not created.

ICEFAN.
first of all welcome to our forums and feel free to post your opinion on any topic that you see fit.
I read part of an article that said the UNION for you was the one who actually called ICE in regards to this.
Know anything about it, or think you can call your union and ask if anyone knows anything _________________ How's that "hope and change" working for you now?

I hope you reciprocated! Why would a legal alien be angry because illegal invaders were being arrested!
I wonder why?
cuz hes illegal too. or because he simply hates hearing about raids that are against "his" kind of people _________________ How's that "hope and change" working for you now?

I was there, thank God!
All I have is a crappy cellphone video and a few photos
How many? Hundreds for sure!!! About time!! I've been emailing them for months. I don't know what finally got them here though. I'm just happy they came!!
Welcome ICEFan.......glad to have you here and thanks for posting pics and giving us the low-down!! It's not often we get to hear from people on the front lines!!!
Can you give us some idea of how this all went down?
What happened when the IAs realized they were being raided? What was the reaction and mood inside?
An eyewitness account would be a refreshing change. Usually all we hear is the IA accounts about ICE rushing in, jamming weapons in peoples' faces, physically assaulting both men and women, screaming profanities, calling them names like "Dogs" and sheer "terror" among IAs who are panicked, screaming, sobbing, and pleading for their lives to be spared
I know that I've always wondered what REALLY happens during one of these things and I'm sure I'm not alone. _________________ If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace. T. Paine

I rubbed it in enough before we left this morning. I didn't see any reason to give him the finger back, LOL I was hootin' and a hollerin' Damn, It's about time! Maybe Jones County will quiet being a sanctuary county, I can only hope. Every I.C.E. agent I saw, I reminded them not to forget the poultry plants that also employ hundreds here. You think now would be a good time to submit a resume to Howard Industries? Or Maybe I should wait, since the human resources manager is probably tied up at the moment...

Wow, how nice flipping off a guy snapping a picture of him in his NICE NEW TRUCK.
ICEFAN, do you know if there were any "warning signs" prior to the raid? What was the absentee ratio today, if you know? Had you heard anything through the grapevine in your immediate area that your workplace would be raided?
