Posted: Sat Jan 28, 2006 11:12 pm Post subject: ALIPAC and NC Listen Withdraw Support for Jan. 30 event.
Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) and NC Listen are withdrawing their support for the scheduled Jan. 30th meeting in Charlotte, NC. The original meeting was to feature Congressman Tom Tancredo, but he cannot attend because his mother has passed away recently.
While we support what Congressman Tancredo and Bay Buchanan are doing for our movement, and while we would like to have Congressman Tancredo and Bay visit North Carolina under better circumstances, we no longer support the Jan. 30th event and we do not advise our supporters to attend. We do support the event scheduled with Bay Buchanan the next day in Winston Salem (details below)
William Gheen of ALIPAC and Ron Woodard of NC Listen will be at the Winston Salem event.
Aside from Tancredo's absence, there are other issues involving safety, security, and proper planning and promotion that we are concerned about. These factors have led to the withdrawal of our co-sponsorship of the Charlotte event.
Ron Woodard's announcement below sums up our position.
William Gheen
President, Americans for Legal Immigration
ATTENTION:
NC LISTEN is withdrawing our co-sponsorship of the immigration reform rally in
Charlotte on January 30th at the Phillip O. Berry Academy. Congressman Tom Tancredo
was to be the keynote speaker at the Charlotte event, but his mother passed away
earlier in the week. He had still wanted to come, but we learned yesterday
afternoon he cannot in fact make the event due to family matters. Even though Bay
Buchanan has offered to be the keynote speaker, we now have safety concerns with the
event location, as chosen by NC Reform Action Network, the main sponsor of the
event. This was due to feedback from associates and the subsequent check of crime
statistics for the area. As a result we are advising NC LISTEN associates not to
attend. ALIPAC, another co-sponsor of the event is also canceling their
co-sponsorship for the same reasons. NC Reform Action still plans to go forward
with the event.
Bay Buchanan will also be the speaker at an immigration forum in Winston-Salem on
Tuesday January 31st at 12:30pm. Details below. We encourage our associates to
attend this event instead. Bay Buchanan will be making appearances on several talk
radio stations in North Carolina to press for control of our borders, enforcement of
our immigration laws, and
not to allow a guest worker amnesty for illegal immigrants in our Country.
As noted I encourage you to attend the lunch event at the Golden Coral in
Winston-Salem on Tuesday at 12:30pm, and I will be attending the event as well.

Regards,
Ron Woodard

That's what I thought. I guess they are just overwhelmed by criminals these days, just like so many other places. _________________ If the US Government won't punish employers who hire illegal workers, the US Citizens must refuse to do business with anyone who is suspected of hiring illegals.
