Cape Coral, FL passes a resolution concerning enployment of illegal aliens. "...Monday night when it passed a resolution outlining state and federal laws regarding the hiring of illegal aliens for new and local businesses."
Synopsis
Inspired by the passage of a similar ordinance titled the “Illegal Immigration Relief Act” in Hazelton, Pa., a group called Americans Standing Tall is circulating petitions in Lee and Collier counties asking area municipalities to pass ordinances restricting access to services to documented citizens. Among the programs they hope will be off-limits are education and medical care for conditions that aren’t life-threatening.
Activist Instructions
We need ALIPAC Activists to make calls, send letters, faxes, and e-mails to all members of the Cape Coral Council asking them to please pass the ordinances to prevent illegal aliens from city employment and rental properties. You may want to share with them some articles about what other cities are doing and some of the problems and public attitudes (polls) about illegal immigration.
Note: Americans Standing Tall "will be attending in force all Cape Coral council meetings, every Monday at 5:30 pm until this question is resolved." Please send letters proir to the meetings and respond to any updates in the paper or from AST. Dixie
Examples
Dear Councilman _________:
I am calling/writing today to ask you to please follow the lead of Hazelton, PA and pass strict immigration enforcement measures in Cape Coral as soon as possible. The federal government is not adequately securing our border or enforcing our existing immigration laws. I feel it is incumbent upon our states and cities to take action to protect communities from illegal immigration. Illegal immigration has many negative repercussions for our communities including depressed wages, increased health care costs, increased costs to taxpayers, increased crime, infectious diseases, and lost American jobs.
I hope you will stand with the vast majority of Americans that want our laws enforced and our communities and tax dollars protected from illegal aliens.
Please pass these ordinances as soon as possible. A majority of your constituents support this effort.

To the Honorable Mayor and Honorable Council Members of the city of Cape Coral.
The United States government has failed to stem the tide of the invasion of illegal aliens creating a multitude of problems for our country and its citizens...
While we, as American citizens, and as a group called Americans Standing Tall, welcome legal immigration to our land, we do not, condone illegal entry.
Americans Standing Tall presents these petitions to you, from the more than 700 courageous people who signed the petitions and others who, justly so, were afraid to sign, asking you for your immediate consideration in confronting the huge illegal alien problem. We emphasize the need for immediate action because the problems get worse by the day and the patience of the citizens of Cape Coral is wearing extremely very thin.
We ask you to please consider and pass an ordinance to encompass all or part of, but not restricted to, the following:
Any business that aids and abets illegal aliens shall be denied approval of a business permit, the renewal of a business permit, city contracts or grants and be subject to fines.
Prohibit the renting or leasing of real or personal property to illegal aliens and make Landlords, who knowingly do so, be subject to fines.
Stop providing goods and services, other than emergency life saving services, to anyone who cannot show proof of being a citizen of the United States and the locality.
The city shall declare that English is the official language of the city and that all city business, forms, documents, signage, telecommunication or electronic communication devices will be conducted or written in or utilize English only.
As noted in the editorial in the News Press on Friday, September 1, 2006, many towns and cities across our great nation have taken the initiative to pass ordinances dealing with the illegal alien problem.
Americans Standing Tall has contacted some of the cities and towns and has found that most are very enthusiastic about the passage of their ordinances and the positive effect they will have on their communities.
The have waited long enough for the federal government to do something about this horrendous situation and the federal government has lived up to its true way of doing things—nothing but lip service.
Allow me to briefly review a serious problem that exists here in Cape Coral and then propose an appropriate and reasonable solution to it.
The problem, as we see it, is that the city officials are not taking any positive actions to evict illegal aliens from our city or to penalize those who harbor them either directly or indirectly with housing and jobs.
The following is most important and critical to this overall issue.
THERE WERE SOME PEOPLE IN CAPE CORAL WHO WERE AFRAID TO SIGN THIS PETITION FOR FEAR OF REPERCUSSIONS AND RETALIATION.
We ask that the names on these petitions and emails be kept in a secure place. We hope that you also would want to do this to assure the safety of these people.
Isn’t there something very wrong when some of the legal citizens of Cape Coral are afraid for their well being in standing up for something that is just and ethically correct?
We would all like to say and think there are no problems in this town. But unfortunately we cannot truthfully say that any more. Especially with the points outlined above.
Sure we can say that other parts of the United States have bigger illegal alien problems than we do but are Florida and Cape Coral next? In reality has it already happened?
People of Cape Coral are seriously concerned about the invasion of our country by aliens who have violated the laws of our land.
Some of these same aliens bring with them diseases which are unchecked by law and medical examinations, and criminals who are wreaking havoc on our society. Those who draw on social services certainly are a huge drain on our financial resources.
But are there bright spots here in Florida? Sadly, no, not one town or city has passed one single ordinance pertaining to the illegal alien problem.
There are many government officials and some media representatives who want this to imply that this illegal alien issue is not really a problem and that we don’t have that many here anyway.
You know and we know that is not true.
We, of Americans Standing Tall, do not point to any one particular ethnic group. Alien is alien and that means from all over the world. And illegal is illegal---if they have come here illegally, they have already broken laws of our land.
Twenty years ago the federal government gave amnesty to the illegal aliens with the promise that it solved the problem. The problem they solved got to be extremely worse. They said they would solve our problems with the Federal Income Tax Law, the Social Security Trust Fund, the Medicare and the Medicaid programs and those programs remain among our biggest problems.
We cannot expect them to solve this gigantic illegal alien problem because of the direction they are going in at this time-nowhere.
You, as the elected officials of Cape Coral, have a great opportunity to take immediate action to help resolve this problem.
There are many states, towns and cities across our nation who have already taken remedial action in the confrontation of the illegal alien situations. They are not passing it on to the federal government for resolution.
Phoenix, Arizona voted to put an initiative on the Nov 7th election ballot that would force police and other city officials to enforce federal immigration laws.
The commissioners of Caldwell County, Idaho, have sued several local employers in a bid to use federal anticorruption law to prevent hiring illegals.
The towns of Riverside, New Jersey and Escondido, California have passed similar laws.
Why not Cape Coral?
The states of Georgia, North Carolina, Arizona and Colorado all have passed sweeping illegal alien reforms. There are many more states considering the same type of laws. They are not waiting on the federal government.
They all know that lip service runs at full speed going nowhere.
The Associated Press in Los Angeles reported that businesses, frustrated by the lax enforcement of immigration laws, are taking their fight against illegal immigration to court, accusing competitors of hiring illegal workers to achieve an unfair advantage.
The people in Cape Coral expect you to examine the facts, consult with experts, listen to your citizens and then make decisions that will help the community and its people. Please do not decide that the issue at hand is a political hot potato and put it aside for others to address.
Passing an ordinance of any type would in all probability bring about law suits.
If it happens it will not be the first time that Cape Coral or any other town or city in the nation will have been confronted with one.
We believe that the people of Cape Coral would welcome that confrontation for it will give tremendous credence to our political way of life here and the will of its people. We would also be telling Washington that because they failed to do their job we the political system and people in Cape Coral have the courage and ethical backbone to do it ourselves.
.
The mayor of Hazelton, Pa. had the courage of his convictions to get his ordinance passed with the support of the citizens. He said enough is enough. If you are not a citizen of the United States you get no help in his town. He further said that if you are an illegal alien you are not welcome in his town.
We stand behind you in the event of law suits and I am sure the Citizens of Cape Coral would be proud to be a partner with you in this crucial endeavor.
Please stand tall as Americans, as elected officials of Cape Coral, protectors of our lives and certainly in the promise you made in the oath of office that you would faithfully enforce the laws of this land and perform all the duties in your office which means for the betterment of Cape Coral and its citizens.
The legal residents of Cape Coral are asking you to step up to the plate, assume the responsibility as leaders, and be the first in Florida to stand tall and as a beacon, casting light for the rest of the state to follow
The more than 700 people who have signed these petitions, and those who were, with justification, afraid to sign, are placing their confidence and faith in you that you will give this your very serious and immediate consideration and come back with an ordinance of which you, Cape Coral, its citizens and the state would be proud.
A similar letter and package of petitions with over 1000 signatures of people in Lee county has been hand carried to the offices of the Commissioners of Lee County.
This information is presented by Anthony Maida, co-founder of Americans Standing Tall, on behalf of the signers of the petition Stop Funding Illegal Aliens.

trippicat,
That's great!
Feel free to use our work area here. That's its intended use. Invite your friends!
For instance, I never would have known that Jefferies had passed. That's because you are on the ground and in the know.
When is the next council meeting?

Thank you for all the help. The papers were taken to the respective city officials and now the work begins. The Cape Coral Council meets every Monday night at 5:30. We plan to be there at every meeting to continue to ask when, and what are they going to do about this problem, until it is solved. Our local paper has run a short item on the website announcing the delivery of the petition. We are sure there will be more tomorrow and then the fun begins with the opposing views. But we are ready and able to handle this task and will continue to fight for America. Thanks for this fine organization you have to help us and others like us.

PLEASE DO NOT send any emails or contact the City of Ft. Myers. This addy was placed on the Press release in error. We have contacted the person of the intended emails and apologized. However, the internet being what it is some will still get to him. We thank you all for your support and help us continue the fight here in Southwest Florida. We will be attending in force all Cape Coral council meetings, every Monday at 5:30 pm until this question is resolved.
Thanks again, and we are extremely sorry for any problems this may have caused anyone.

Friends,
Just a quick update on happenings here in Cape Coral. The City Council is livid about all the emails they have received. Thank YOU thank YOU.
The responses were what we expected, "it's a federal issue, we can't do anything, stop the emails". So we got to them, but we need to keep it up, AST is having a meeting tonight to decide what the next step is, but please keep up the emails, your help is greatly appreciated. They are not giving numbers on emails received, but I suspect they were flooded as they said to call it off.
Thanks to each and everyone of you that has helped, this is gonna be a battle,
Trippicat

Hello Fellow LEGAL Americans.
We had a great meeting tonight, a lot of new faces and mad Americans. We are proceeding with our plans to continue the flood of calls and emails and will be attending the meeting Monday again. So please keep up the emails, we are also going to be loading their voice mails this weekend with demands to do something to save our city and our people from the diseases that come with some illegals. If not for us, for the children of the community and its citizens. We are also taking on law enforcement and demanding they take a stand to enforce the laws of the land. There are some other things in the works but at this time I cannot make them public and tip our hand. But believe me, Cape Coral Florida will no longer be a quiet little city in paradise, watch for further updates, and again thank YOU all for your help.
