Dear Congressman Rohrabacher,

I wanted to send a letter of thanks to you for the amazing speech that you gave on May 1, 2007. Your speech touched my family deeply.

My family lives in Central California. I am not one of your constituents but I wish that I were, since my representative appears to me to have more pressing issues then representing my family. Like, catering to special interest groups who can pad his wallet or fill his ballot box. If I sound cynical, I guess it is because I am growing that way through time and experience.

We are awake sir. We are making calls, faxes and emails everyday. We are trying to be heard but we don’t have the ACLU to defend our rights. We don’t have a dozen special interest groups with unlimited funds fighting to keep our cause in the media. We don’t even have a media, with the exception of Lou Dobbs, who will tell us the truth. So we are pretty much on our own.

I have always been the most patriotic person. I have such a deep love of country. I have such a deep respect for all of the patriots that came before us. I have always believed that America is everything that I was taught it was when I was a little girl in school. And I always believed that our government was on our side and that it’s sole function was to protect the constitution, the country and the American family.

I don’t believe that anymore. How can I when I see my country being sold to the highest bidder. Some days it is almost more then I can stand to see the injustices happening to my country.

My husband served with honor in the USAF for 20 years and then retired. I served in the USAF with honor for four years. We are a family of average Americans who have worked so very hard over the years to achieve our idea of the American dream. What we wanted was simple. A home to raise our children, A job that would pay us a fair wage, and a college education for our children.

After retiring from the Air Force and from his part time job, my husband found a very good civilian job. We bought our version of the white picket fence complete with a few fruit trees, and we felt that the American dream was ours. And why not? As American citizens, we had earned the right to it.

But now our dream is in great jeopardy. I had to pull my twelve year old son out of school because it was so overcrowded and under-funded and the teachers were so overwrought and the principal so overwhelmed that my child was falling through the cracks. He was miserable and failing and doing everything in his power to stay home from school. So I put him in a small charter school 30 minutes away from our town and I drive him there where he is well taught, cared about, very happy, and achieving great things. He recently took home medals in the pentahalon event and is an honor roll student and a black belt in Tai Kwon Do.

But I have to drive him on the dangerous California highways. Where drunk illegals roam without consequence. Where Mexican truck with poor standards and truckers with unknown driving records will soon be en route from one delivery to another. I am afraid for my husband when he goes to work. I pray each day that he will make it home and not be another victim of an illegal drunken driver. I am afraid when I take my children up that highway to school, that we won’t make it home at the end of the day.

We don’t go to public events because they are too rowdy and violence can break out without warning. We don’t go out at night because a whole different element is on our streets at night. We don’t go much of anywhere anymore. We are living in fear.

I keep my children close to home to protect them. And yet, just two days ago my child was endangered in our own driveway during the 5 minutes that I let him outside in the front yard to do a chore. His back was turned to the street and a car driving by honked. My son turned around and a very scary guy (his words) flipped him off and gave him a mean look. He was scared and confused. He didn’t know this guy. He had done nothing to this guy. And in that moment, in a moment of a drug crazed person or a person filled with hate, or a person inspired by intent to frighten, my sons safety was in jeapordy. In just that moment, he might have been injured or killed right on our front law. We were at the mercy of the unknown.

And so this is how our American dream unravels. All that we have worked for was a job and a home to care for our children, the next generation of Americans. Now it seems we may have to leave California. It galls me to do that because it is what many with poor intentions want us to do and I don’t want to give in to them but at the same time, I have children to protect. The career my husband has worked so hard for will be lost. Our home will be lost. Our freedom to live in California and enjoy all the things that make her great will be lost. Our rights to pursue happiness will be lost

So let me ask this:
Do my children have a right to the American dream?
Have my husband and I done enough to have earned that right for our children?
Who speaks out for us?
What organization will rally unlimited funds to see to our rights?
What media will cover the story of the American dream stolen from Americans?

I thank you for the speech you gave Mr. Rohrabacher. I thank also the other handful of heroes who are out there fighting for the American public. I can’t imagine what our fate would be without you.

I will pray for you each day and for every American who truly loves their country without an agenda other then her safety and security. I will pray for my family too.
I think we are all going to need a prayer before this is over

Sincerely,

This is a link to the speech given by Congressman D. Rorhabacher 5/1/07

Good morning, PAF. I read your letter with great interest and I have to say, you put in words so well what the average American family is living with in parts of our own country. I'm so glad my children are grown so that I don't have some of the concerns that you live with every day.

I wonder if I may have permission to copy and post your letter on another forum in defense of America and American families. There is another person posting there, defending the illegals..."aliens are from outer space" kinds of comments. He's talking about how wrong we in America are, of course, for wanting these people out of our country. I have already responded point-for-point and think I highlighted the stupidity of his rationale, but your letter would be a perfect addendum to my rebuttal!!

I would be proud for you to pass this letter along. Maybe it will inspire people on the other board to send letters of support too!
Anything I can do to get the word out is well worth it.
Would you send me a link so I can visit that forum?

Thanks for your kind words.

Geez, PineStrawGuy and NotGoingTOTakeItAnymore,

you guys are kicking butt and taking no names on that thread!
You both make me very proud to be a part of ALIPAC!

Thanks for all the kind words everyone.
I am a tiny little thing so I can't go fight and protect the border.
I would probably get squashed and suffocated at a protest.
But there are still things I can do to help my country.
Speaking out is one of those things.
I will write and write and write till my fingers drop off.
Maybe a new person will see something that will inspire them.
We can change the world if each of us use our strengths to help.

PAF, that was a great letter, it just got me right here (pointing). It's really a shame our kids have to grow up wondering what in the heck our leaders are up to. The ones that are informed has distrust in their eyes, I can't say that I blame them.

Thanks Rockfish and everyone.

Your point about the children is so true.
My son is twelve but he is very aware. It is hard not to be when the truth is right in front of your eyes. Our government has parents such as myself in such a bad situation. I have to try to explain to my child that while I am angry and in disagreement with our current government that America is still a great land and worthy of respect and patriotism.
It is difficult to explain to a child that even though he sees people breaking the rules, and they are not held accountable for that, it is still not the right thing to do.
He sees that they are even being rewarded and he asks a good question:

Why should I follow the laws and play by the rules?
They don't have to. And they don't get in trouble.

I think he makes a great point. And I think that current policy causes confusion with our children. And it may be that kind of confusion that leads to kids doing drugs, getting into trouble, dropping out of school, and being depressed. Kids need boundries. They understand rules. They don't understand unfairness.

So, is it okay to break that law if the end justifys the means?

This is what I told my son:

Our government and our society demand that we be a lawful nation.
The last several administrations have not followed that policy and the are wrong for it, so we must vote them out and vote in better people. But the administration is not America. The people of America are America and we have standards of behavior.

But most of all you must follow the rules and the laws because it is the policy of OUR family and it is what we expect you to do. So there is no confusion there. We are not law breakers. We work for what we want and we don't steal what we won't work for. That is the dignity of our family and your dad and I expect you to be a decent citizen even if the government doesn't require that.

And when you do the right thing, you will have a sense of pride that the lawbreakers and the thiefs can never have and we all know that, even them. That is why they are so angry and that is why they demand so much. They know they are not entitled and they want someone to justify their behavior and make it more acceptable. I would hate to be somewhere I knew I wasn't wanted. So they turn it around on us and make all of this chaos our fault. They look for reasons for what they are doing. I think they are going to suffer from low self esteem as a result of never feeling quite up to par. It never feels as good to steal something as it does to earn it. That is what is sad. They can never know what it really means to be a citizen of our country.

That is about the best I can do to explain what I shouldn't have to explain to a child. I hope a time will come soon when our children will have leaders that will be good role models and follow the rules that they expect others to follow.

I have posted your story at Diggers Realm

Thank you for putting your situation forth as an example of what the average American family is facing and doing it in such an elegant manner!

You moved me because I have the same concerns.

I created a summarized version of the speech before sending it my friends because I know they may not read the whole thing. I sent it to the entire FL and SC state senate and house too.

Mr. ROHRABACHER. " Mr. Speaker, today was May Day, and there were demonstrations across America in favor of a more open immigration policy, an immigration policy that I might add has already resulted in 15 to 20 million illegals being present in our society. The American people need to pay very close attention to this issue.

Several weeks ago, the President of the United States took advantage with Congress being out of session to give a major immigration policy speech down along the border in Arizona. Flanked by dozens of border patrol officers, President Bush stuck to the usual script, securing the border, yes, but first a guest worker program must be set up that includes giving Social Security benefits to illegals, to those people who have been working here illegally, and of course, part of the program must be to legalize the status of those millions of illegal immigrants who already reside in our country.

If this President pushes through his so-called
comprehensive immigration plan, which will legalize
the status of those who have broken our laws and are
in this country illegally, America's current 15 to 20
million illegal residents within a decade will
mushroom to another 40 to 50 million.

Wake up, America. We are about to lose our country.
Wake up, America. The President and Congress are not
watching out for you.

The comprehensive immigration legislation that is
being bandied around town by this President and by
Members of Congress will be a green light to 100
million people throughout the world to do anything
they can do to get to our country because we do not
have the will to stop them.

Wake up, America. You are about to be assaulted, and
your elected representatives are not on your side. No
one will stop the horde if this so-called
comprehensive bill goes through. Who is going to stop
them? Not the border patrol.

Wake up, America. You are being betrayed. We are being
told that our Border Patrol agents are going to secure
our borders: Just pass the comprehensive bill, then we
will secure the borders. Well, first of all, those are
two unrelated issues. But then, on top of it, we know
now that our government is prosecuting the Border
Patrol agents or anyone else who gets in the way of
the hordes of illegals that are now flooding into our
country at this level. This is total insanity... our
defenders in the Border Patrol and elsewhere are
demoralized.

These aren't idiots that have designed this policy.
These are people who have the wrong goals in mind, who
are not representing the interests of the people of
the United States, and are certainly not appreciative
of our defenders

This administration and the powers that be have set
out to intimidate the Border Patrol and to make them
fearful to enforce the law.

If this country continues to allow uneducated,
unskilled workers to come here illegally, it will
bankrupt America, and we are in the process of
bankrupting America.

The Heritage report estimates that the cost to the
American taxpayer over the lifetime of a high school
dropout is $1.1 million per dropout. Because of the
government benefits they receive versus what they pay
back into the system in taxes, the net cost, per year,
for all of these illegal alien dropouts that are
coming here, high school dropouts, these
poverty-stricken people, the net cost to us per year
is $397 billion, almost $400 billion a year.

Put that in perspective. Of all the things we try to
finance in this Congress and can't find an extra $25
million for breast cancer research.

Our government is betraying the interest of our
people. It's not protecting our people. Yet,
politically, our government is dominated by powerful
forces who want these high levels of immigration,
legal or illegal.

It is not an accident. It is not something that just
happened. The policy decisions were made by an elite,
but the American people were kept in the dark about
these decisions.

Now, who was it? Who's behind this flow into our
country?

First of all, business wants cheap labor. When I say
that, that doesn't mean that they just want cheap
labor from people who are coming here illegally. That
means they want the people who are coming here
illegally to bid down the wages of our own people.

So not only are the illegals working for less money,
but now the American working people have to take less
money, because their job will be given to an illegal.
So big business wants cheap labor. They want the
illegals to depress wages. That is a very
powerful
force.

Who is watching out for the American people? Well, it
is up to us, the United States. And what we can do is
make sure that everyone talks to their representative
and talks to their Senator, and does so aggressively,
not in a low voice, but in an aggressive voice because
you're protecting your families and your children and
you're protecting your country in the future.

Either we will speak out; we will rise with a
righteous rage and oppose this immigration travesty
that is about to be foisted upon us or we will suffer
grave consequences. Within 10 years, our country will
have been lost. Ten, 20, 30, 40, 100 million new
people here, some of them terrorists, some of them
criminals, most of them good people, but still, people
who don't deserve to be consuming those resources that
we have built and saved and created for our own
people.

So with that, I close and ask the American people to
wake up and pay attention. "

-Congressman Rohrabacher 5/1/07

Nice job summarizig ND.
And Welcome!

This is what we need to do as often as we can!
Get the word out there.
The main stream media has its own agenda and protecting American families is not one of them.
So it is up to Americans to get the word out there and keep the word out there!
They can't stop us as long as we have the internet!
Send his speech to everyone on your mailing list!

I can hear a low roar rising up from the American Heartland. It is the sound of people who know the truth and will not be silenced or misled!

Digger,

Thanks so much for putting my letter on your blog! I am proud to be a part of helping to wake American's up!
The American voter has a voice. The American will is strong. And no amount of dis-information by the media and law makers/breakers will keep us from spreading the word.

Congressman Rohrabacher says it is time for America to WAKE UP!
Get your coffee folks. Get your phones, your emails, your pens, and your faxes and lets remind them that the American people have the vote and the voice and we intend to use both!!!
There is power in numbers. The illegal marchers were banking on the fact that they had the numbers to bully the American people into giving in to their ridiculous demands. Lets show them what REAL numbers are!
