ICE raids plant in Laurel, Mississippi
By HOLBROOK MOHR - Associated Press Writer
JACKSON, Miss. -- Federal immigration agents raided a major manufacturing plant in south Mississippi on Monday, but it wasn't immediately clear how many illegal workers were taken into custody.
Barbara Gonzalez, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman, said the target of the operation was Howard Industries Inc. in Laurel, a town of about 18,000 people located about 85 miles southeast of Jackson.
Howard Industries produces dozens of products, ranging from electrical transformers to medical supplies, according to the company's Web site.
"This is a targeted enforcement operation that is part of an ongoing ICE investigation that has revealed that illegal aliens are employed at Howard Industries," Gonzalez said from the scene. "Because the operation is still under way, an arrest total is not available at this time."
A recording at Howard Industries on Monday said the telephone switchboard was closed. A man who answered a phone call from The Associated Press at the company's security station said "no" and hung up when asked if there was anyone available to discuss what had happened.
Gonzalez said public health service officers were on the scene to interview and evaluate the condition of the workers to determine if there are "any humanitarian concerns we need to be aware of."
"Humanitarian concerns will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine if an alternative to detention is warranted," she said.
Gonzalez declined to tell AP how may agents were involved in the operation, saying "that's law enforcement sensitive information.
Note: ICE says people whose relatives were detained can call for information: 866-341-3858.

I guess MIRA wasn't able to stop this one despite their big "Emergency Call To Action" bulletin sent out a few days ago
Well, let's just hope that ICE learned a few things from Postville and, if there's a church in Laurel....which I'm sure there is......they set up a perimeter in order to catch all of the IA fleeing fugitives looking to hide inside until they can be smuggled out.
Can't wait to see more details on this one. _________________ If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace. T. Paine

ICE raid confirmed at Howard Industries
From staff reports • August 25, 2008
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has confirmed its agents conducted a targeted enforcement operation at Howard Industries in Laurel this morning.
Barbara Gonzalez, regional communication director for ICE, said this morning’s operation was part of a long, on-going investigation of Howard Industries.
Public health officers are on the scene to evaluate the health care and humanitarian concerns of detained individuals.
ICE will release more information later today. No other details are available now.
Family members seeking information may call (866) 341-3849.
At the Howard Industries plant, people who identified themselves as Howard employees, were coming out of the building. They said that so many illegal immigrants were being arrested that the plant had to be shut down because there were not enough workers to run the plant.
Some said ICE agents were searching the entire building, including employees’ lockers. Some of the locks on the lockers had to be broken off.
Gonzalez said that officials don’t yet have an official count of illegal immigrants arrested.
ICE also is raiding the corporate headquarters at Howard Industrial Park in Ellisville.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
Illegal aliens were warned by pro-illegal groups that Mississippi was going to have some huge raids any day. They had plenty of time to make plans by getting their kids out of school and self-deport out lof here. No excuses this time around.

Churches must lose their not for profit status due to the politics they are in involved in. Churches are condoning immigrants to come to the United States illegal and steal from the American taxpayers. And once in our country the churches are aiding and abetting the illegal immigrants.
CALL IRS AND ICE.

Oh we have many illegals! But the new fight which we must fight is legal immigration. Dear Lord Help Us!
The i-9's and the green cards are killing the jobs totally for Americans.
BALTIMORE -- A Snow Hill man will spend three years in prision for trying to bribe state and federal officals in a scheme that cluminated in raids on several Lower Shore businesses last fall.
Javed Iqbal, 40, was also given three years supervised release Tuesday for a racketeering conspiracy related to a scheme to bribe officials with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to illegally obtain green cards and the Maryland Comptroller's Office to receive abatement of state taxes, said officials from the U. S. Attorney for the District of Maryland.
REMEMBER THIS BECAUSE THIS IS THE LOOPHOLE... ALL FOREIGNERS WANT I-9'S AND GREEN CARDS AND ETC. THEN THE AMERICANS JOBS ARE THEIR'S LEGALLY AND THE BABIES PRODUCED ARE AMERICANS?

Just follow the money my friend. The "political contributors" will get their "cheap labor" and not have to furnish any "benefits" because all the "benefits" for the ILLEGALS will be “socialized” from the taxpayers enforced and implemented by "our Elitist Politicians" and their "men"(see Johnny Satan) while the “profits” will be privatized by the ILLEGAL EMPLOYERS, Elitist Contributors, and their Special Interest Groups!!
Heavy Fines and Felony Jail Time for ILLEGAL EMPLOYERS!

Wow....now that's bad Just let Howard Industries claim that they "didn't know" all of these people were IAs
Hmmmm, a town of only 18,000 people, huh? Wonder how many will be left after all is said and done with this? I see some definite possibilities in available real estate opening up in Laurel........... _________________ If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace. T. Paine

I'm sure the management will claim they had no idea how so many illegal invaders made it on th the payroll!! Enough with the "I didn't know defense!" One or two illegal invaders on the payroll might be explainable!
Having to shut down an entire plant because virtually every worker is illegal is a DELIBERATE ACT, meant to thwart immigration law, tax laws, and probably a host of other state laws!!
These people need to face some serious jail time! How in the world can a guy who wants to run a legitimate business compete with someone who exploits cheap, illegal invader labor!! The answer is he cannot!!
A free market/capitalist society only works if everyone is playing by the same rules! Those who disregard those rules, MUST be held accountable!
Oh...If this guy wants to remain in busines after this is all said and done, E-Verify should be made mandatory, as this company has demonstrated they cannot play by the rules when hiring labor

Hopefully citizens everywhere are going to notify I.C.E when companies are violating the law by employing illegals.
There are over 8.8 million unemployed American workers, and that number is increasing every singly day. Just google "layoffs" and you will see notices of layoffs all across our country.
We should also send copies of our I.C.E. letters to all employers employing illegals, so that they know they have been reported to I.C.E., to allow them an opportunity to use E-Verify before I.C.E. drops the hammer on them.

Yep, but how many more illegals could have been arrested had the warning not went out? Don't get me wrong, the raid is great news. However, I wish they could keep future raids a little more secretive.

Pastor: Church members detained by ICE
By Emma James • American Staff Writer • August 25, 2008
LAUREL — A pastor of a Laurel church has reported that several of his members have been detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
The Rev. Nilpon Garcia, pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Laurel, said he had family members of eight Hispanic workers at Howard Industries call him this morning upset about the raid.
Garcia, who was at the scene at the Laurel plant, said these members were employees but was not sure what their duties were.
“It’s a shame because there are families involved – children and mothers,” Garcia said. “And they need help right now.”

The only "help" these people need is getting on that ICE bus headed south!!
I agree! Illegals KNOW what they're getting into when they come here and take a job. When they get caught, it's all about the "children and mothers" and "tearing families apart". I am SO sick of hearing it I could scream! It's not that I don't have compassion and empathy- I do. However, my feelings of compassion and empathy are directed toward Americans who are struggling to make do HERE and NOW. Americans who aren't breaking any laws, but just trying to live and get by.
If illegal aliens want my compassion, the only way they'll get it is by going home WITH THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS to their country of origin and making things better for themselves there. Until then - forget it! I'm empty, just like the gas tank on my car.

Well padre, put your money where your mouth is and prepare to pay through the nose to support these "families". Won't be long til you're sucked dry and begging them to get deported.
They should have thought about their "children" before they had them while they were here illegally! They seem to think they can squat in the US and pop out baby after baby they can't support and then have the balls to whine when they're caught?!?! Cry me a freaking river and gimme a break! DEPORT them ALL! _________________ "If you love our nation, STOP illegal immigration!"
