President Obama tried to lie to the whole nation tonight and a brave Congressman by the name of Joe Wilson called him on it!
Joe Wilson (R-SC) has been endorsed by ALIPAC three times in the last six years. He has an excellent record on immigration issues receiving an A- grade at betterimmigration.com

Read the bill and you will clearly see that illegal aliens are excluded by the law. What are you guys smoking? Stick to the facts or your credibility will be lost and the real fight against amesty will be lost. i think you need to check it out because there is a page that says one can not be asked their status of being in the country legally or illegally,
and another page that says if one member of the family is covered, then the entire family is covered. and that language right there can mean illegals are covered because the anchor babies will be covered.

Obama has a law degree and he knows darn good an well how illegal aliens are going to get benefits because there is no language in the law that will prevent it. The playing dumb is not going to slide.

How nasty has the political discourse in Washington gotten? During his speech to Congress tonight, President Obama defended his health care plan, saying that he had never proposed providing coverage to illegal immigrants. “You lie!” shouted Rep. Joe Wilson, a Republican from South Carolina, prompting Obama to briefly pause in the delivery of his speech and eye his heckler. No doubt emotions are often heated during these joint sessions with the president and members of Congress, but decorum typically rules—except for tonight, apparently. In an interview with CNN afterwards, Sen. John McCain trashed Wilson’s heckling and urged him to apologize. “Totally disrespectful,” McCain said. A little over an hour after the speech, Wilson did just that, issuing a statement of regret. "This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President's remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill," Wilson said. "While I disagree with the President's statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility." Wilson also called the White House where he conveyed his apology to Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.
Of course, it may be too little too late. Wilson, a rank and file Republican, was largely unknown nationally before tonight's outburst. Now's he's a trending topic on Twitter and Google and some critics are vowing to contribute money to his Democratic opponent in what already looks like a tough 2010 race. And for the record, Wilson was wrong: HR 3200, the health care bill under debate in the House, explicitly prohibits coverage for illegal immigrants.
One thing is for sure: Wilson’s outburst didn’t do the GOP any favors tonight, particularly against a backdrop of a speech in which Obama went after his critics to either put up or shut up on health care reform. It completely overshadowed the official Republican response to Obama’s speech. Rep. Charles Boustany, a cardiothoracic surgeon from Louisiana, urged Obama to scrap the current bill and start anew with true bipartisan negotiations. “We agree much needs to be done to lower the cost of health care for all Americans. On that goal, Republicans are ready — and we've been ready — to work with the President for common-sense reforms that our nation can afford,” he said

Illegals are mentioned in the bill and the claim is made that they should not receive benefits.
However, further inspection shows there are ZERO enforcement specifications. Thus, the illegal aliens will be free to take these benefits against the wishes of 83% of Americans just like everything else.
Also, Obama and Schumer plan to legalize all the illegals soon so they would also be covered that way.

he is just making a play on his words your right technically he is lying, just like technically he is not....once they get anything at all passed they will do what they want and change it the way they want. We need to force them all into the same health care they want us to have and not let them pass any immigration laws we are against..

Jeepers what an embarrassment some of these posts are. Lets not lose the facts people. The current Democratic President and the last one disgraced the office beyond anything we could possibly dream up. Heckling in Congress pales next to what the Democrates have done to earn the dis-respect they so richly deserve. I don't think the Congressman from SC did the best thing in the best way but I hardly think it should be viewed as it is in the media. We are mad, are we not ?? We are NOT being heard. The Republicans in Washington are being bulldozed and run over, walk in their shoes for a few. Frustration without limits. The outburst was way overdue. I believe that this was the ONLY way to get the message across and THAT should be the crime, not what the Congressman did.
Regarding the state of South Carolina. They are in trouble. I live in North Carolina. North Carolina was number 1 in the United States for the growth of illegals per capita in the 1990's in the country. That illegal population has placed both Carolina's in the top ten for highest unemployment, some of the worst budget problems, and some of the worst illegal immigrant problems in the country as well. Whoever brought up the race card - illegal immigration is not about race its about the American Way and what is right and what is wrong. If this is a race issue for you you don't belong in ALIPAC.
Before you support the President and his lie about illegals - read the damn bill. One person is covered they are all covered. Lets not forget -it appears to me that if illegals are not covered on national health they will be covered by medicaid as they are today. Millions of illegals are covered by Medicaid w/o question. Why in the world should we believe it will be any differant for National Health?

I posted an article the other day about how NY and NYC have been lowering the number of uninsured. I was in a rush and failed to point out that what is REALLY being done is that IAs are being signed up for Medicaid state and city wide. How you ask? There is no citizenship verification in place.

Just about the time the Center for Immigration Studies was holding a press briefing at the National Press Club about the immigration and health reform connection, proponents from President Obama on down were denying that illegal aliens would receive taxpayer-funded health care under pending legislation.
I’m here to tell you, as I told the Press Club crowd, the legislation on the table does, honest to goodness, effectively extend coverage to illegal aliens.
Take the premium subsidy in the House bill, H.R. 3200. This lies in the part of the legislation (Division A, Title II) that creates a Health Choices Administration, adds the infamous “public option,” sets up and runs the “exchange” clearinghouse for getting insurance, and controls a graduated premium subsidy program through allocation of “individual affordability credits.”
The subsidy, found in Section 242, will give a voucher to people earning between 133 percent of the official poverty level and 400 percent of that income level (or, up to about $88,000 a year for a family of four).
Legal immigrants certainly qualify under H.R. 3200 for this subsidy. Section 242(a)(1) makes eligible "an individual who is lawfully present in a State in the United States (other than as a nonimmigrant described in a subparagraph (excluding subparagraphs (K), (T), (U), and (V)) of section 101(a)(15) of the Immigration and Nationality Act)."
A political fig leaf purports to keep illegal aliens from receiving the subsidy. Section 246 says, "Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States."
However, reading the legislation as a whole, its glaring omission is any requirement to verify someone’s immigration or citizenship status. For instance, H.R. 3200 makes no reference to the verification system in current law that’s used for nearly all government welfare and other public programs. If lawmakers wanted enrolling agents, including bureaucrats at the new Health Choices Administration, to use the Systematic Alienage Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) system, the bill should include a reference and authorize SAVE’s application to this government program.
In other words, the silence of H.R. 3200 regarding SAVE and mandatory verification makes Section 246 just empty words. In fact, the Ways and Means Committee outright voted down an amendment by Rep. Dean Heller to require eligibility verification before qualifying someone to receive a taxpayer subsidy. Also, "lawfully present" covers a lot of ground. Does it include someone here under Temporary Protected Status, for instance? Again, the absence of eligibility verification requirements leaves open a lot of room for waste, fraud, and abuse.
A similar situation of setting up blinders occurs in H.R. 3200’s Medicaid provisions. Division B’s Title VII, Section 1701 expands Medicaid eligibility to those with incomes a third above the federal poverty level. This provision dictates that "the State shall accept without further determination the enrollment under this title of an individual determined by the Commissioner to be a non-traditional Medicaid eligible individual." In other words, the bill prohibits asking any further questions about new Medicaid enrollees.
Rather, the bill section promotes "presumptive eligibility" concerning Medicaid expansion. Read it for yourself, right from Section 1702(a):
(ii) PRESUMPTIVE ELIGIBILITY OPTION- Pursuant to such memorandum, insofar as the memorandum has selected the option described in section 205(e)(3)(B) of the America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009, the State shall provide for making medical assistance available during the presumptive eligibility period and shall, upon application of the individual for medical assistance under this title, promptly make a determination (and subsequent redeterminations) of eligibility in the same manner as if the individual had applied directly to the State for such assistance except that the State shall use the income-related information used by the Commissioner and provided to the State under the memorandum in making the presumptive eligibility determination to the maximum extent feasible. (emphasis added)
And, once again, the lack of any provision mentioning or requiring verification, mandatory use of the SAVE system under this part of the bill, or any other accountability requirement opens the process up to signing up illegal aliens for Medicaid.
In the Energy and Commerce Committee, a mandatory verification amendment was voted down when Rep. Nathan Deal offered it. A political figleaf amendment was added by voice vote, but the loopholes and potential for waste, fraud, and abuse remain wide open in the Medicaid provisions.
Whatever you think of health reform, a combination of things makes it certain that illegal aliens will receive government health coverage. The most obvious is the omission — heck, the outright rejection of corrective amendments — of eligibility verification requirements. The other factor is the designed ease of enrolling people in Medicaid, for "affordability credits," and the like.
Bottom line, the health legislation Congress is considering establishes an "enroll now, don’t ask questions later" regime. That’s a recipe for covering more people, but many of whom may not actually qualify. A huge number are almost guaranteed to be illegal aliens or legal immigrants still in their first five years in the country who are supposed to turn to their visa sponsor for financial support. And having more people in a public program translates pretty quickly into higher costs. In this case, we’re talking on the order of tens and hundreds of billions of dollars.[quote]
