OKLA DECLARES SOVEREIGNTY - TELLS FED. GOV. TO CEASE AND DES

This appears to involve a section of land that would be an inland port for the NAFTA Super High Way in Oklahoma

OKLA DECLARES SOVEREIGNTY - TELLS FED. GOV. TO CEASE AND DESIST!

    Date: Sunday, 15 June 2008, 5:06 a.m.

HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 1089 By: Key
    AS INTRODUCED
A Joint Resolution claiming sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over certain powers; serving notice to the federal government to cease and desist certain mandates; and directing distribution.

WHEREAS, the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States reads as follows: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."; and WHEREAS, the Tenth Amendment defines the total scope of federal power as being that specifically granted by the Constitution of the United States and no more; and WHEREAS, the scope of power defined by the Tenth Amendment means that the federal government was created by the states specifically to be an agent of the states; and WHEREAS, today, in 2008, the states are demonstrably treated as agents of the federal government; and WHEREAS, many federal mandates are directly in violation of the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States; and WHEREAS, the United States Supreme Court has ruled in New York v. They are pushing for an inland port in NC!

This came to me via email from Rep Mitch Gilespi

    Inland Port

One of my inland port bills passed the House this week and now goes to the Senate. Two other inland port bills I have passed committee. They will go in the study bill. These bills that I have are good because nobody in Raleigh really understands an inland port. See link to story on the bill I had Monday night. http://blogs.citizen-times.com/

Researchers looking at the feasibility of an "inland port" in the mountains of WNC may report the results of their study by the end of the year.

A bill introduced by Rep. Mitch Gillespie, R-McDowell, that passed the House tonight would set Dec. 1 as the date for the study to be done.

The researchers at Western Carolina University are trying to figure out if WNC - possibly near the crossing of railroad lines in Marion - makes sense as a spot for a rail and trucking hub.

The name "inland port" tries to cast such a place as a hub of international commerce, but not everyone has quite grasped the concept.

Rep. Cary Allred, R-Alamance, asked Gillespie jokingly: "How do you plan to get the ships up there? By locks, or by digging a canal?"
