Posted: Mon May 19, 2008 10:43 am Post subject: We did it before! Let's do it again TODAY!
Friends of ALIPAC,
We need every man, woman, and child on the ready line immediately.
In the past we have stopped several amnesty attempts and we can do it again today, if enough of you respond and take action!
The sellouts in the Senate originally hoped to rush the Agjobs Amnesty embedded in the Iraq War spending bill with a vote last Friday.
The vote has been pushed back and is now scheduled for Wed May 21!
This delay is to our advantage, if we use the time wisely. In the past, delays have played to our favor, because it takes us a few days to get our political machinery in full gear and the public warned into action.
Special Note: This will not be easy. While ALIPAC makes every effort to make things as simple as possible for you, this battle will not be won with click and go efforts. The US Senate does not publicize their e-mail addresses and even if they did, sending an e-mail would be the least effective thing you could do.
YOU MUST USE THE PHONES!
Please take immediate action following these instructions.
1. Warn Talk Radio Shows and get our voices on the air immediately.
We need you e-mailing and calling all of the talk radio shows on our directory. Tell the hosts "I want to hear you warning listeners about this bill on the air right away!" Then monitor the shows and if you do not hear the host talking about it, call in and get the warning out.
If you hear a show warning the public or you get on the air to warn the public that is a SCORE. Report your Score at the feedback link provided below.
2. Get on the phones again to your two US Senators. Ask them if your Senator has issued a statement for or against the immigration language in the Iraq Spending bill. If they say they are opposed, thank them for their stance. If they say they are for it, explain why you feel their position is wrong. If they do not have a stance yet, lobby them to oppose any immigration materials in the war spending bill.
PLEASE REPORT YOUR FINDINGS ON THE FEEDBACK LINK, AS WE WILL BEGIN TRACKING VOTES TODAY.
3. Make sure you know the latest details about this stealth amnesty and circulate the information to others with encouragements for them to take action. We are adding information to our homepage as it comes in. These latest articles can help you with your efforts.

Besides doing a that W requests, if you happen to visits a website's article or blog on immigration, listed below is a quickie posting you can leave that might wake up some readers and get them involved:
Amnesty for illegal immigrants has once again reared it's ugly head with Senator Feinstein (D-CA) slipping in her amnesty for agricultural workers into the Iraq Supplemental Spending bill being voted on this week in the Senate. This would amount to amnesty for over 3 million illegal aliens. Her amendment is not only not germane to the bill's intent, polls indicate 80% of Americans are opposed to amnesty on principle.
How they voted on S2611.....this tells a great deal!

I'm going to offer a list on how to prioritize or characterize your contacts with Senators.
Absolute outrage reserve for these - they have either sponsored current legislation and/or have 'flip-flopped' with recent history on important amnesty legislation (7 back-stabbers):
These people need to hear your 'No Amnesty' message loud and clear (about 29; they either are not very solid/have shown some ability to waver on the subject, or just need more reinforcement):
7+30+22=59. 59>51 (A basic majority of 100 senators).
You convince everyone of those senators above NOT to support this current Amnesty legislation, and we win.
In the end, expect a couple of the current 'opposed' will defect and go to the other side, and expect a vice versa too. Hopefully, those fence-jumpers will turn into 'a wash' and even out in the end.
OK, now I'm done fine-tuning the lists. I'm done, and I'm sticking with it. _________________ "If my family wasn’t safe, what makes you think yours will be?"

Thanks Z. I knew one or two would get dropped for whatever reason.
I added him to the 'good guys' part of the list. _________________ "If my family wasn’t safe, what makes you think yours will be?"

I appreciate everyone posting the historical information on these Senators but WHAT WE NEED RIGHT AWAY IS ACTUAL REAL TIME CONFIRMATION ON WHERE THESE SENATORS STAND ON THIS BILL.
Please call, ascertain, and post your findings quickly.
Crapo's office says crapo believes we need the ag workers in Idaho but not sure if this is the way to go about it, said they will know more tonight
Chambliss....opposes
Craig...well what can I say, hopeless and since it is partly his bill and he is leaving this year he really doesn't give a damn. _________________ AUT*AGERE*AUT*MORI (EITHER ACTION OR DEATH)

Staffer said it's unknown at this time if there will be one or two votes--
the AgJob amendment may stay attached to the war funding bill so there would be one vote.
The AgJob amendment may be separated from the Iraq War Funding Bill so there would be two separate votes--one of war funding and one on the AgJob amendment.
Senator Ensign won't commit until he knows how the AgJob is presented.
I also stated I opposed the $1.6 billion Mexican anti-drug aid package--Merida Initiative. The Mexican government is too corrupt. _________________ "Distrust and caution are the parents of security."

I spoke with Sessions office this morning. I asked if there was going to be an amendment and if so what is the number. They said, they weren't quite sure how they would approach it yet but to keep an eye on it.

As usual Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison's phone lines remain busied out today. This isn't surprising as Senator Hutchison is responsible for undermining the Secure Fence Act via a stealth amendment she introduced in the last military funding bill. Texas Senator John Cornyn's people say he hasn't issued a statement opposing the AG-Jobs language, and they refer to his strong historical opposition to amnesty. This is code for Senator Cornyn being willing to let this one slip through. He's up for re-election in November. I urge everyone to contact all Senate members and tell them that "even though you aren't one of their constituents, you are so outraged by this stealth attempt to force amnesty down our throat, that you feel compelled to write"!

Called Specter's office and gave them an ear full. I disclosed to them that I was full aware of his ties to Agriprocessors and their schemes to drive wages down then declare they need the EW-3 visas and the corruption of this company, the Immigration Lawyers Assoc. in DC, AND THE $14,000 THAT SPECTER GOT FROM THIS COMPANY IN IOWA. I told them I'm sick of politicians like him and that's why I'm a registered independent. I told them I'VE HAD IT WITH HIM"
