CIUDAD JUAREZ, MEXICO - A member of U.S. military stationed at Holloman AFB has been killed at a strip club in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico Wednesday.

Staff Sgt. David Booher was killed on the morning of November 4, 2009; he was assigned to the 49th medical group at Holloman Air Force Base said Tom Fuller, community relations chief of 49th Fighter Wing.

Reuters.com stated gunmen with automatic weapons burst into a strip club in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico and opened fire on patrons and killed six people including an American airman.

The El Paso Times say Booher, a member of the U.S. Air Force was among six people killed at the Amadeus strip club on Ejecito Nacional boulevard.

Also killed were waiter Luis Fabian Carbajal Hernandez, 24, and security guard Omar Oswaldo Garcia Cabrales.

Authorities were awaiting confirmation on the other identities and the incident is under investigation by the Mexican State Police.

U.S. serviceman dies in shooting at Mexican strip club
    STORY HIGHLIGHTS

    * Air Force Staff Sgt. David Booher shot with 5 others in Ciudad Juarez
    * Gunmen appeared to have targeted the victims, Mexican spokesman says
    * Juarez is considered off-limits for the U.S. military because of drug violence

(CNN) -- A U.S. serviceman was among six victims of an early morning shooting at a Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, strip club Wednesday, officials said.

Unidentified gunmen entered the Amadeus club in the border city across from El Paso, Texas, just after midnight and fatally shot six men, Chihuahua state attorney general's office spokesman Arturo Sandoval said.

An additional person was injured, he said.

Two of the victims were identified as employees of the strip club, a waiter and a security guard, the spokesman said.

Another was identified as an American citizen and member of the U.S. Air Force, Sandoval said.

A statement from Holloman Air Force Base, near Alamogordo, New Mexico, confirmed that the airman was based there, and identified him as Staff Sgt. David Booher, 26.

The gunmen appeared to have targeted the victims, Sandoval said.

"Everything indicates that these people were looking for these men," he said.

Investigators recovered more than 30 shells from the scene.

Because of drug-related violence, particularly in border cities, Juarez is considered off-limits for the U.S. military. At Fort Bliss in El Paso, for instance, a memorandum prohibits its soldiers from traveling into the Mexican state of Chihuahua, where Ciudad Juarez is located.

More than 2,000 killings have been recorded in Juarez this year.

New Information About U.S. Airman Killed In Juarez

    November 5, 2009

We are getting new information on a U.S. military member who was killed in Juarez. Holloman Airforce Base says Staff Sgt. David Booher was killed at the Amadeus Strip Club tuesday. He was one of six people shot dead by gunmen. Booher was a member of the 49th Fighter Wing.

We tracked down one of Booher's friends who tell us the 26-year-old had family in Juarez and would visit often. The friend, John Boyle, tells us Booher was set to be deployed either to Iraq or Afghanistan. Boyle says Booher was in Juarez visiting with friends on his day off.

Booher leaves behind a wife and 13-year-old son. A memorial service has been scheduled for next week at Holloman. No one has been arrested in the shooting. The U.S. Air Force Special Investigations Unit is assisting Mexican State Police.
