Calderon attacks Arizona immigration law

President Obama formally welcomed Mexican "partner" Felipe Calderon to the White House this morning for a state visit that turns on the volatile issue of immigration -- including Calderon's criticism of the controversial new law in Arizona.

"If we are divided, we cannot overcome these problems," Calderon said in attacking the Arizona proposal allowing police officers more authority to demand identification from people they suspect of being illegal immigrants; the law will promote "discrimination," the Mexican president said.

In his welcoming remarks, Obama -- whose aides are pondering a lawsuit against Arizona -- did not mention the law, but called for an immigration system that is "orderly and safe." Obama also urged united action against "drug cartels that threaten our people."

The United States and Mexico are not just bound by geography, Obama said, "we are by choice friends and partners."

"Let us stand together," Obama said during the formal welcoming ceremony. "Let us face the future together."

Calderon, meanwhile, identified "organized crime, climate change, and migration" as "common challenges." He also warned against the U.S. and Mexico "reproaching each other" in seeking to deal with these problems, particularly immigration.

The Mexican leader called for "a border that will united us instead of diving us."

Mexico and the United States can enhance each others' prosperity if they work together, Calderon said, employing an Obama campaign slogan as part of his argument -- "yes we can!"

Despite gray skies and an unseasonal chill, guests on the South Lawn waved American and Mexican flags during the traditional state visit ceremony: Trumpets, the playing of the national anthems, the presidential review of troops, the marching of the fife-and-drum corps.

The president and wife Michelle also welcomed Mexican first lady Margarita Zavala to the White House. The two first ladies could seen chatting amiably during the ceremony.

"Climate change" has been identified as the "vehicle of choice" to establish one world governance, and "migration" is the term used by the Roman Catholic Establishment and the United Nations for people moving across national boundaries in their "universal rights of migrants" (sic) spiel. No distinction is made by these organizations between those entering other countries legally or illegally.

Just heard this on the radio: Calderon says AZ law discriminates against Mexicans.

I thought that was the point! If most of our illegal aliens are Mexicans of course it is going to discriminate against them.

If Calderon like the law I would be very worried.

If he hates it it must be something I'm all for.

Obama actually has his hand over his heart

Obama said, "we are by choice friends and partners."

Friends don't send 10% of their population across the border to leach off another country's generosity. Please talk to Prez Calderon about Grupo Beta, a government sponsored group, that helps illegals sneak into the U.S. Oh, and ask for a copy of that comic the Mexican government passes out to potential illegals. The country has become dependent on remittances and will do anything to keep the money flowing.

NO WE CANT! There is absolutely nothing Mexico has to offer right now that would benefit our prosperity. Mexico drags us down by sending us their uneducated people. Build the fence an keep them out!
