University of Arizona Associate Professor of Gender and Women’s Studies Sandra Soto used the Social and Behavioral Sciences commencement to talk about Latinos being marginalized by recent legislation in her state and was promptly booed. We can’t say we are surprised she was booed, only that they let her speak at the podium and even defended her to the cretins that are the U of A graduates and their families.

Detractors in the audience complained via Twitter about Soto hijacking the event for political purposes, but isn’t an institution of learning the perfect place to be challenged? Not to mention a graduation in the school of Social & Behavioral Sciences!!! (Underline!) But as one commenter on YouTube who purports to be an ASU Sun Devil said:

Only a pure asshole would turn a graduation speech into a political soap box grandstanding event! This is why we (ASU Sun Devils) eat Wildcat for diner! BBQ the Fat ass because like I said before… Only a pure asshole would turn a graduation speech into a political speech!
