Feds estimate deportation costs $12,500 per person

    The Associated Press
    Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011
    WASHINGTON, D.C.

A high-level immigration official says it costs $12,500 to arrest, detain and deport each person removed from the U.S.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement deputy director Kumar Kibble has announced that cost at a House subcommittee hearing.

Wednesday's hearing focused on whether the Obama administration is not doing enough to round up people working illegally in the U.S. ICE deported almost 393,000 people from the U.S. in 2010.

At $12,500 per person the cost to remove them was almost $5 billion.

An estimated 11 million people are in the U.S. without proper documentation.

Every person who is to be deported must be given a court hearing if they request it (by federal law). That means that they must be housed, feed and clothed until they get a hearing. They must be transported from where they were arrested to a place with room to hold them. They have to be transported to court and back. If the judge orders them deported they must be returned to the country of their citizenship (by law). It cost less to deport people who are arrested near the border. It cost much more to deport people from far away states. It cost a lot to deport people who have to be flown back to far away countries.
Then they average it out to $12,500 each.

Worth it at twice the price.

This is where we should "invest" our resources instead of solar energy or Race to the Top or God forbid the reactivation of that nightmare Dream Act Obama referred to in his speech.

President Obama should appear on national news and speak to immigrants, that they are residing illegally in this Country, and let immigrants know the U.S. is aware of this criminal act and give illegal immigrants a chance to go back to their homelands, otherwise they will be detained and deported from this Country. When the President speaks to the public about this matter it will cause many illegal aliens to leave this Country without further legal actions. The problem is, most immigrants thinks President Obama wants them to be in this Country, due to "the Dream Act" and he will some how pass a (Legislation) that will make them legal citizens. Once they find out this is not true, most will leave.

Obama does want them here, as do many members of congress from both parties.
That's why he wants the DREAM Act passed and several other amnesty plans, just like McCain, Palin, Bush etc.

First we get rid of this idiot court trial garbage

They are either legal or illegal , no gray area
Then we put them on a bus and they are gone

Summer is coming , There will be tens of thousands of school buses sitting idle

    Put them to good use

Even at the $12.5 cost per , it would only take a couple years to
pay for it , less when you figure they cost this country 100 billion a year

Its a win win all the way around

GET THEM OUT OF THE COUNTRY

    To JohnDoe2:

Well, if any person is willing to give up their job tile for illegal aliens, so be it. The American people have spoken, and they are the true leaders of this Country.

I'll bet they collect at least $12,500 yearly in welfare benefits, medical and educational costs.

I'm for strict enforcement of employment laws - let the employers pay huge fines. Then cut off any welfare benefit to families that include illegals. Without a means of support, they will eventually go home.
