Showdown expected Tuesday over Herndon day laborer law

Advice to the Herndon Town Council on Monday: rest up, because Tuesday promises to be a long night.

On Tuesday, the seven-member council will consider an amendment to a recent law designed to curb solicitations from day laborers. The amendment would keep solicitors out of the streets as per the law, but would would allow them to sell services from the sidewalks and even the shoulders of the roads.

Prior to voting on the amendment, the council will hear public comment from activists on both sides of the issue. Most of the day laborers in question happen to be Hispanic, which has immigrant-rights groups screaming foul. Chief among those groups is Virginia New Majority, based in Arlington. Arlington is nearly 20 miles from Herndon, which longtime Herndonians might as well call Rockville, meaning the group — according to some — has no legitimate standing to muddle in town affairs.

The self-proclaimed "pro-immigrant" faction will start the evening with a 6:15 rally at Herndon's St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 432 Van Buren Street. The council meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m., but will likely go late as there are six public hearings and votes before the street-solicitation headliner.

Your kidding me, right? From the sidewalks and shoulder of the road? If they are on the side walk that cuts down on foot traffic for Store owners, I mean who wants to fight their way thru a bunch of illegals to get to a store? And standing on the shoulder of the road? Now that is fkn brilliant! An accident waiting to happen!

How about doing the right thing? BAN any and all solicitation! These are people who shouldn't be here, and shouldn't be working!

This is exactly why the problem of illegal immigration is so out of control and efforts to combat it are met with much resistance. This is because the majority of illegal invaders happen to be hispanic, which has allowed them to galvanize the race card and cry discrimination every time an effort it made to enforce the law. These efforts have allowed them to thwart most efforts to enforce the law and further their desire to colonize many parts of this country. These people understand how powerful the race card is in this country and will pull it at the first sign of trouble.

Their argument is immigration law can no longer be enforced in this country because the majority of illegal invaders happen to be hispanic.

The fact these people should be able to offer any resistance on this issue when they are clearly breaking the law demonstrates how much trouble illegal invaders are causing this country.

The majority of citizens are creating discussion groups throughout America to have illegal immigrants removed from this Country. I hear people say from all walks of life they will be out in every City and town when the weather becomes warmer, to support those who disapprove of how this Country is being abused by undocumented aliens. The year of 2011 is going to be a HOT year people, so buckle up and be ready for the shows they will be held at all places!!!
