Deportation bill makes it out of House committee

Nonviolent convicts in the United States illegally could face shorter sentences before deportation under a bill passed out of a House committee on Wednesday.
Currently, after an illegal immigrant serves a prison term for criminal activity, they are handed over to the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement for deportation.
House Bill 306 would allow nonviolent offenders to be released early for deportation back to their home countries.
The legislation is an initiative of ICE, sponsor Rep. Randy Ramey, R-Carol Stream, said. The agency believes there are around 1,000 individuals who would qualify for the program, he said.
The estimated cost savings to the state would be around $25,000 per prisoner, Ramey said.
The proposal passed unanimously out of committee and will now go to the full House.

Deport, Deport, Deport. The sooner the better, so yes, I think this is a good law in Illinois which should extend beyond prisons to schools and hospitals.

In my opinion this is a catch 22 situation. Yes, it gets them out of our jails and off the taxpayer's back... but as we all know they will turn around and head right back. With the borders as they are, they will be back within a week!

If they deport them now, they can easily walk right back in past Napolitano and Obama's unsecured border.

Since when has deportation become a punishment? Illegals aren't supposed to be here in the first place. Deportation should be considered a natural act, not a punishment. If you do the crime, you should do the time (IMO). I'm not for reducing the penalties handed out by the courts - I do not consider that justice. In my view, justice is means you first pay for your crime and then get deported.
I may be willing to compromise on the issue if the bill also states that the illegal is banned from the country permanently and that returning will automatically subject the individual to a minimum of 10 years in federal prison, no questions asked, and no appeal.

And even if all Illinois does is deport them, then that's the flushing action we need. The other states can shut off the valve. And people will know what states help save our country, and which ones tried to destroy it.

We know the feds are nothing but fakes at this job, and that's not an offense on Border Patrol or even ICE, we know Border Patrol is doing all it can with their resources but they are outnumbered with only 20,000 agents when we need 40,000 just to man the southern border alone 24/7/365, plus another 40,000 to process the ones they catch, so we the people and the states have to do it. The states have 800,000 trained, sworn, funded and equipped law enforcement officers that chase, hunt, investigate, arrest, detain and help prosecute every level of criminal our crimes laws cover, so doing the same thing to catch, arrest, detain, prosecute and deport illegal aliens would be a cakewalk for them, not unlike traffic court for most of the cases.A Nation Without Borders Is Not A Nation - Ronald Reagan
