SAN DIEGO -- San Diego police say 43 people have been arrested on suspicion of crimes including drugs and weapons trafficking - the result of a yearlong investigation.
Police said Tuesday that authorities seized 376 pounds of cocaine, 46 pounds of marijuana, 21 firearms and more than $800,000 cash during the investigation, named "Operation Second Sole." They link the alleged crimes to unnamed Mexican drug traffickers.
All suspects were from south San Diego and nearby suburbs. Capt. Jim Collins says 14 were arrested Tuesday in San Diego County. The others were already in custody.
Authorities have not named the suspects or released criminal complaints. So far, five have been charged in state court and 13 have been indicted under seal in federal court.
