Thread: FOX excludes Duncan Hunter from SC debate

Campaign Texas Grassroots Coordinator Regarding SC GOP DebateHeidi Thiess provided the following info. Heidi is the South Texas (Grassroots) Director for the campaign. She has been on everyone’s tail about the DH’s exclusion:

As you know, Duncan Hunter was excluded from the debates in Hew Hampshire and now in South Carolina . Duncan Hunter is a viable and active candidate in good standing. He had to pay $25,000 to get his name on the primary ballot in South Carolina ! He has a network of volunteers that has worked very hard, but all are barred by the SC GOP from attending the debate. Worse, he is being excluded based upon one criterion imposed by Fox News: he has not garnered 5% of the national electorate as determined by recent polling.

So where is Fox News getting their poll data from? If you go to their website, Duncan Hunter is not even listed as a candidate. Furthermore, Fox News is drawing their consolidated poll data from Real Clear Politics, an online clearinghouse for dozens of polls. According to Real Clear Politics, he doesn’t exist. He is nowhere in their polling data – they are not even tracking him! [Editor note: The latest Rasmussen daily poll has 15% missing…. where did it go? Who does it go to? How many of those are undecided? How many of those are for Duncan Hunter?]

Therefore, Fox News is using incomplete poll data (and thereby skewed data) to exclude a candidate from the debates. Information is knowingly being withheld from voters in these early states, and their access to a Presidential candidate is barred. This, in turn, is affecting results in later states as candidates are prematurely dropped from consideration – BY THE MEDIA. Not only is that unethical, it is manipulative, and it is blatantly contrary to the American electoral process. There is no one holding the SC GOP or Fox News accountable.

It is far too early to exclude candidates from the process - that is not fair to the voters. Fox News is manipulating voter access and unfortunately, the South Carolina GOP is allowing it. It is shameful and entirely anti-American.

Us Ron Paul supporters have been writing/calling all of FOX's advertisers for about 3 weeks now asking them if they support FOX's decision to limit free speech.

Some have pulled their support and we are also spreading the word trying to hurt their stock. So far, its down a good amount.

We welcome additions to the fight against FOX.

I feel obligated to let you know that the SC Republican Party in conjunction with Fox News is not allowing Presidential candidate Duncan Hunter into the the South Carolina debate tomorrow night.

Bill O’Reilly said last week on his show that Duncan Hunter would be in the debate. The state party informed us today that he would not be allowed into the debate. The SC GOP blames Fox News. I personally believe that the state party could make it happen if they would.

Duncan Hunter is a qualified candidate who has shaped the debate in this presidential race for the Republican Nomination. Consider the facts:
from day one Hunter has campaigned to secure the border and fight illegal immigration. He wrote the Border Fence legistation that was passed by Congress and signed into law by the President. With the exception of Tancredo none of the other candidates started talking about this issue until the end of March 2007. Hunter was running television ads about this in December 2006.

From day one Hunter has campaigned against the unfair trade practices of China and pledged to negotiate fair trade deals. Only with in the past couple of weeks have any of the other candidates mentioned this. CONSIDER THE MANUFACTURING JOBS SOUTH CAROLINIANS HAVE LOST!

From day one Hunter has campaigned for a fair tax. He co-sponsored the fair tax legislation

From day one Hunter has campigned for a strong national defense, peace through strength. No one knows defense better than Duncan Hunter, the ranking member of the Armed Services Committee.

I do not know of anything we can do to get Congressman Hunter into the SC Debate short of a lawsuit to stop the debate until Hunter is allowed into the debate. I suggest phone calls and e-mails to the state party and Fox News. Also, you can refuse to buy tickets to the debate and or debate events.

Realize this America, FOX News and the other mainstream media outlets are forcing you to be like SHEEP. Don’t be blinded by what is happening here. The MSM wants you to pick a liberal Republican. They want a President who is a push-over who will lead our country close to how the Dems would do it. Think about this, at each debate, Hunter has not been given his fair share of time. The media has only focused on the LIBERAL candidates. That is because they are afraid of Hunter and how he would turn our nation back in the right direction. Hunter stands for all the conservative values that we uphold. The media doesn’t want to accept the fact that Hunter is not a QUITTER and that he will fight to the very end.

I always hear complaints about the fact that Hunter doesn’t have name recognition. Who do you think is responsible for that??? You can be sure that the MSM and the LIBERAL candidates are the ones banding together to keep out the MOST CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE running for President. Republican voters are longing for another President like Reagan. That candidate is DUNCAN HUNTER. He became a Congressman as Reagan became President. Hunter learned how to represent our nation from one of our most treasured leaders.

Thompson is the next one to be out of the debates, actually he should be out now! Ron Paul didn't make it once, and now Hunter........ FAUX is anti-American, communistic, and war mongers

This is outragous, it is not up to FOX news to tell "We the people" who we should see and vote for, Hunter is on the ballot there he has every right for those people in SC to see him in the debate. This is turning into one crap election by these Corporate Pukes, and we need to stop them.

I agree! The man is a fighter and as evidenced by the following story from the SAGINAW News. He's continuing in his attempt at delivering his message, despite the media's dedicated efforts to shut him down.

Republican presidential hopeful Duncan Hunter will headline the Tuscola-Huron GOP Lincoln Day dinner in Caro Thursday a party official says.

The event is scheduled to begin with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. at the Brentwood Restaurant & Bowling, 178 Park, said Phillip W. Hardy, chairman of the Tuscola County Republican Party. Dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $25 per person or $45 per couple.

Representatives from other presidential campaigns and local candidates for federal and state offices are expected to speak, he said. The state's presidential primary is Tuesday.
Hunter, a veteran member of the U.S. House from California, is best known as a member of the House Armed Services Committee. He has campaigned mostly on fair trade,
manufacturing and defense issues.

He would have received a lot more mileage from the debate, however, he continues to do what he can.

This is outrageous and it is really kinda frightening. They have been skewing things for years - now they are simply 'in your face and what are you going to do about it'.

Send e-mails it is all we have right now....I just sent e-mails to Lou Dobbs and some of the other hosts, I hope will report it. How can they leave someone out that got on the ballot?

I am done watching FOX. First Ron Paul and now Hunter.
