Anti-immigration US lawmaker launches likely presidential bid

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US Representative Tom Tancredo, who has made a name for himself as one of the most vocal lawmakers in Congress battling illegal immigration, announced that he was taking formal steps toward a future presidential bid.


"I am going to today establish an exploratory committee ... to seek the nomination of my party for president of the United States," Tancredo, a Republican from the western US state of Colorado, told US television.
