Heads May Roll
News of a resolution to VB Gate has been swirling since last Thursday.
However, no press release has yet been issued by USCIS. In response, AILF has said, "further delays or incomplete solutions will compel us to move forward with litigation"
Analyzing the situation, one can reasonably conclude that someone
at USCIS will have to take the fall for the VB Gate debacle -
probably someone acting in good faith and high up on the food
chain. That would explain why tentative settlements reached late
on Thursday (7/12) and Monday (7/16) have failed, because the
person(s) involved at USCIS is/are powerful enough to temporarily
scuttle a settlement. We commend Rep. Lofgren for her aggressive
leadership on this issue which is critical to tech companies and
we are confident that without her participation, the Executive
agencies would have gotten away unscathed, despite dashing the
hopes of hundreds of thousands.
USCIS's and DOS's actions, however well-intentioned, send a clear
message - that playing by the rules does not pay. Let's all
remember what is at stake here: it is not just the hundreds of
thousands immigrants ensnared in this confusing web, what is on
trial is the legal immigration system itself.
Immigrant's List has sent a 10,000+ signature petition
and
to DHS Secretary Chertoff on the matter.

Lawsuit on Visa Bulletin
Last updated July 17, 2007
Immigrants' List is the first political action committee of its kind. It represents a turning point in the fight to elect pro-immigration candidates.
IL will support candidates regardless of political party who will work for meaningful immigration reform. Immigrants' List will prove to members of Congress that supporting immigration reform will help them win elections. Together, we will change the tone of the immigration debate in America. Rather than supporting the politics of fear, division, and terror, Immigrants' List will fight for those candidates who understand that people from all parts of the world have, can, and will make essential contributions to our country.
Sign our petition to Secretary Chertoff.
Dear Secretary Chertoff,
We request that the USCIS accept the I-485 filings that it was supposed to accept not just in July 2007, but for a sufficient time thereafter to allow for the proper preparation of those filings, including the need for medical examinations and accommodation for travel plans by I-485 applicants. This means that the USCIS must accept I-485 filings at the earlier fee and grant a minimum of an additional 46 days (time that would have been allowed from the date of the issuance of the Visa Bulletin on June 12, 2007 until July 31, 2007, the date until when the I-485s could have been filed but for the actions of the USCIS).
Doing so is the only way we can begin to restore fairness to this process.
Send an email to your friends and family! We need everyone to spread our message and build Immigrants' List into the strong pro-immigration reform force we need. Click inside the "Message" box to customize your message.

The United States only Admits about 1 million new citizens a year.
Too many damn applications from illegal aliens is a big part of the problem. It's not a bottle neck, it's a log jam.
Illegalas are bogging down the system and complaining, even though they caused the problem. More hypocrisy. I bet the legal immigrants, that have been waiting a long time are irritated that their papers are not being processed in a timely manner due to all the illegitimate applications from illegal aliens.

who said anything about not being pro immigration, do they mean that we should have politicians that are pro illegal immigration?
What a bunch of bs. _________________ Check out my new stuff!

Well technically, they were supposed to be separate applications... but the load on USCIS is really unbearable. They need to double funding for this organization at the very least.
What they need is to stop letting the whole damn world in!!!! WE NEED A MORITORIUM ON IMMIGRATION NOW!!! _________________ AUT*AGERE*AUT*MORI (EITHER ACTION OR DEATH)

I couldn't agree more! Why does the international community feel that America owes everyone the right to enter our country, regardless of where they are from or what their intentions are? Illegal immigrants need to be deported immediately. I don't care if they have "planted roots" here. They are spoiling everything for legitimate and legal immigrants. I will never accept an illegal alien as a citizen of my country.

I hope no ALIPAC members signed the petition.
I say that because I came close to signing it without reading the details. When someone post a petition on here, I normally assume it's one we need to sign. You didn't want us to sign this did you, HOTCBNS?
Strange isn't it, Chertoff will listen to these goons, but he refuses to hear our pleas.
