President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS), then overseen by Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, released an illegal alien into the United States knowing he did not have a valid asylum claim, new documents from the House Judiciary Committee reveal. The illegal alien is now accused of murdering 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman last month in the sanctuary city of Chicago, Illinois.

As Breitbart News has chronicled, 25-year-old illegal alien Jose Medina-Medina of Venezuela was arrested by the Chicago Police Department and charged with murdering Sheridan Gorman in a random attack on a pier at Tobey Prinz Beach on March 19.

Prosecutors say Sheridan was with a group of friends on the pier when she noticed Medina-Medina hiding. When Sheridan and others in the group started running for safety, Medina-Medina allegedly fired a gun, shooting and killing the young woman, who was in her freshman year of college.

On Tuesday, the House Judiciary Committee unveiled internal DHS documents showing that agency officials were well aware that Medina-Medina had no valid asylum claim, did not have any form of identification, provided no United States contact or address, and made clear he did not fear being returned to Venezuela when he showed up at the southern border on May 9, 2023.

“The subject was unable to provide a valid U.S. address and/or verifiable Point of Contact,” one of the internal DHS documents reads. “… the subject was asked and responded that they do not fear harm or persecution should they be returned to their native country.”

Yet and still, DHS officials released Medina-Medina into the United States, claiming there was not enough detention space, even while acknowledging he would be “likely to abscond” from immigration proceedings.

Gorman’s murder, allegedly at the hands of a Mayorkas-released illegal alien, is one of the latest in recent weeks. Also last month an illegal alien who was released into the United States by Biden’s DHS was charged with murdering two people in Mecklenburg, North Carolina, while another Biden-released illegal alien is accused of killing 62-year-old Christopher Babcock in Pitt County, North Carolina.

In Escambia County, Florida, last month, a Mayorkas-released illegal alien was charged with murdering his three-year-old nephew after the boy’s mother had been deported from the United States and abandoned him with her brother.

SOUTH TOMS RIVER, NJ — A South Toms River man told a 911 dispatcher "I killed my wife" when he called police on Saturday night, after she had been lying on the floor for nearly 20 minutes, according to court documents in the case.

Gustavo Juarez-Perez, 38, also told authorities he had choked Cheyanne Juarez, 30, claiming he "lost control" when she allegedly confessed to having cheated on him, according to the probable cause affidavit.

A female roommate of Cheyanne told authorities that Cheyanne had told her on March 3 that she had broken up with Gustavo, the affidavit said.

Gustavo Juarez-Perez remains in the Ocean County Jail on charges of murder, possession of a weapon, for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon, and additionally is being held on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer, according to the Ocean County Corrections website.

Meanwhile, plans for a formal funeral service for Cheyanne have been shelved and a service celebrating her life is set for 7 p.m. Friday, March 14, outside her home on Hummel Drive, according to her friend Rosaura Roustand, who created the GoFundMe campaign to assist Cheyanne's children.

The affidavit says the children — Gustavo's 14-year-old daughter who lived with the couple at least part-time, and the couple's three sons, ages 12, 10 and 3 — were in the home when the argument leading up to Cheyanne's death happened.

Gustavo's daughter said the couple had been together for about 11 years. They had argued in the past, including during the daughter's recent birthday celebration, which ruined her birthday, she said.

"She mentioned that the decedent and the suspect would argue, but it was never this bad," the affidavit said.

Gustavo Juarez-Perez had moved out of the home in early March, the daughter told authorities. He came to the house about 8 p.m. Saturday and took Cheyanne into the bedroom to talk, she said.

The daughter heard the argument begin and heard it escalate, with Cheyanne saying, "it hurts" in Spanish. She took the three younger children into another bedroom where they stayed until police arrived, according to authorities.

None of the children were physically injured.

Authorities also spoke with Gustavo's brother, with whom Gustavo had been staying, and the brother said Gustavo told him he and Cheyanne were having problems. On the day Cheyanne was killed, he lost contact with Gustavo for several hours, and did not hear from him until receiving a text message at 9:18 p.m. where Gustavo wrote, "I killed my wife."

By that time, Gustavo Juarez-Perez had already called 911, according to authorities. He had made a similar statement to the 911 dispatcher, saying "I killed my wife," and when the dispatcher asked if she was conscious, he said, "no, she is dead."

He went on to tell the dispatcher he had hit Cheyanne and used his belt to choke her.

"I lose control," he said, and alleged Cheyanne had cheated on him multiple times and had confessed to doing so. "I was so upset and I lose control."

Authorities searched the home, the vehicles and also seized several electronic devices including Gustavo Juarez-Perez's cell phone. The affidavit does not say what, if any, evidence has been retrieved from the phone.

In the meantime, Cheyanne's family has come from out of state to be with her children, according to Rosaura Roustand, a friend and co-worker who started a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses and help with the three boys.

"Unfortunately, we have not been able to collect enough funds for a proper service. Her sister shared that funeral costs are extremely high — almost $10,000 — so the family has decided to proceed with the most affordable option, cremation," Roustand said in an update on Facebook.

Family and friends will be gathering at 15 Hummel Dr., South Toms River, at 7 p.m. to honor her memory, Roustand wrote. Cheyanne's sister is seeking custody of the three boys, Roustand said, and they will be moving out of state to where the rest of Cheyanne's family, including her father, stepmother and brother, are living.

Donations to assist the boys are still welcomed, Roustand wrote.

Gustavo's daughter is with her mother now, authorities said.

A Brunswick woman died Friday when she was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash while riding her bike along U.S. Highway 17.

Amanda Jorgensen, 37, of Brunswick, was riding near the U.S. 17’s intersection with Belle Point Parkway at around 4 p.m. Friday when a pickup truck struck her bike before driving away from the scene of the crash, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Jorgensen died at the scene, the state patrol said. According to posts by co-workers on social media, Jorgensen worked at Publix and was on her way to work as traffic lights throughout the county were inoperable due to lack of power after Hurricane Helene.

The driver of the truck, Israel Alonzo Garcia, 39, of Brunswick, was arrested a short time later and charged with vehicular homicide in the first degree, hit and run, DUI, driving with an open container, driving while license suspended and not maintaining a safe distance while overtaking a bicycle.

The State Patrol’s Serious Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.

An illegal alien accused of drunk driving and fleeing the scene is facing multiple felony charges after a fatal collision that claimed the life of an eight-year-old girl in Georgia.

Authorities say an illegal alien is behind a deadly DUI crash that killed a child and seriously injured her mother in DeKalb County, Georgia. On Tuesday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced it had lodged a detainer against Jose Alejandro Cuahuizo-Varela, who remains in custody with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

The tragedy occurred on Sept. 6, when Latazamisha Nunn was pulling out of an apartment complex in Dunwoody. Investigators say a Toyota pickup truck driven by Cuahuizo-Varela slammed into Nunn’s Honda, fatally injuring her daughter, Maryah Johnson, 8. Both were rushed to local hospitals, but Maryah did not survive.

Cuahuizo-Varela allegedly fled the scene but was captured shortly afterward by local police. Jail records show he has been charged with first-degree homicide by vehicle, serious injury by vehicle, reckless driving, hit and run, driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving without a valid license.

Disturbingly, Cuahuizo-Varela was already facing nearly identical charges stemming from a 2023 DUI hit-and-run in Brookhaven, where he reportedly injured multiple people. Despite that case, he remained at large before the September crash.

The child’s mother, Nunn, told WSB-TV she blames ICE for failing to detain Cuahuizo-Varela after his first arrest. “If ICE would’ve done its job in the first place and picked him up, my daughter wouldn’t be in this type of predicament,” Nunn said. “If you all retrieved him the first time it happened and he sent three people to the hospital, my daughter would still be alive right here.”

A related X post circulating on social media has drawn renewed attention to the case and criticism of federal immigration enforcement failures.

ICE has since confirmed that Cuahuizo-Varela “illegally entered the United States.” No further details about his prior encounters with immigration authorities have been released.

The incident marks the latest in a series of high-profile cases involving repeat DUI offenders living unlawfully in the U.S., reigniting debate over immigration detainers and local cooperation with federal authorities.

A man charged in the killings of a man and his pregnant wife to keep them from testifying in a San Diego drug trafficking case pleaded guilty to federal charges Monday.

Benjamin Madrigal-Birrueta, 22, is slated to be sentenced next year in connection with the slayings of Cesar Armando Murillo, 44, and Maira Sofia Hernandez, 33.

Prosecutors said the victims each died of multiple gunshots to the head and their bodies were buried in a desert area near Yakima, Washington.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Madrigal-Birrueta had a leading role in a drug trafficking enterprise that involved using stolen vehicles to smuggle drugs through San Diego-area ports of entry.

The investigation into the drug smuggling led agents to Yakima, where investigators interviewed Murillo and Hernandez in August of 2022.

Federal prosecutors said both were murdered "within days of those interviews." Following search efforts that exceeded a year, the victims' bodies were recovered in the fall of 2023.

Madrigal-Birrueta's plea agreement states that he and other co-conspirators fatally shot Murillo on Aug. 28, 2022, at a ranch just outside Yakima. The plea agreement states Madrigal-Birrueta maintains that Murillo also fired gunshots at him and his co-conspirators, though no one was struck by that gunfire.

Less than a week later, Madrigal-Birrueta persuaded a "visibly pregnant" Hernandez to come to the ranch because he said Murillo "was waiting for her at the ranch and wanted to see her," the plea agreement states.

Madrigal-Birrueta then drove Hernandez to the ranch, where his co-conspirators shot and killed her, the document states. The U.S. Attorney's Office said both victims' bodies were buried near the ranch at Madrigal- Birrueta's direction.

Along with admissions to his involvement in Murillo and Hernandez's killings, the plea agreement states he caused the death of the couple's unborn child. The U.S. Attorney's Office said Hernandez was six months pregnant at the time of her death.

The 21-year-old, accused of killing an innocent driver during a pursuit in Placentia, is undocumented, officials said.

The man accused of killing an innocent driver during a police pursuit in Orange County is facing additional charges for also injuring an elderly woman while being held in the custody of immigration officials.

Darwin Felipe Bahmon Martinez, who pleaded not guilty to gross vehicular manslaughter, evading a police officer causing death and reckless driving, was held on $2 million bail and had an immigration detainer against him as of Thursday.

The chase initially began on Jan. 24 when officers on patrol saw Martinez behind the wheel of a dark-colored Jeep Gladiator driving recklessly and nearly colliding with a parked car, according to police.

After refusing to pull over, Martinez took off, but he soon crashed into additional cars in Placentia.

A 83-year-old woman behind the wheel of one of the cars was taken to an area hospital without major injuries.

The man in the other car was killed in the collision and was identified as 59-year-old Jose Antonio Ramos Hernandez. He was described as a beloved father.

The Los Angeles filed officer of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed Thursday that Martinez is from Colombia, and that he "illegally entered the U.S. near Chula Vista in August 2023."

ICE officials said they lodged an immigration detainer against Martinez the day after the fatal crash.

Martinez's preliminary hearing was set for March 16. The family members of the deceased victim were expected to attend the hearing.

A Mexican male who may be in the U.S. illegally has been arrested following a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a Texas musician last week, according to reports.The horrifying tragedy unfolded at around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 20 in Dallas.

Investigators believe 30-year-old Elijah Heaps (formerly known as Michael Frantom, according to a GoFundMe fundraiser) was passing through an intersection on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle when Jonathan Salazar Garcia, 21, made a left turn in his pickup truck and slammed into the two-wheeler.Salazar Garcia kept driving and did not stop to check on Heaps or render aid, police said.Witnesses followed the fleeing suspect until police were able to catch up to him.

“When he was arrested, Salazar Garcia was carrying a Mexican driver’s license. He told police he was staying at a home in Grand Prairie,” Fox 4 reports.Salazar Garcia was charged with collision involving death and ordered held on $25,000 bond. Additionally, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer request for him with the Dallas County jail.



“We are going through the loss of a beautiful soul because somebody wasn’t doing what they were supposed to do,” Heaps’ mother Rachel Frantom told Fox 4.“He was beyond anything that I’ve ever known in this world. Full of light and every time he was around anybody, he made them feel better. He was an encourager. He was gifted. He had lots and lots of talent.”An investigation is ongoing.

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. — A suspect has been arrested nearly 25 years after a couple was killed at a rural St. Lucie County home.

During a news conference held Thursday morning, the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Julian Antonio Romero, 58, on two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Robert Hardwick, 77, and Vernice Reese, 58.

Investigators later determined that the couple had died from stab wounds.

Sheriff Richard Del Toro said the couple was found dead in their burning two-story home at 3828 Kings Highway south of Indrio Road in October 2000.

After their bodies were found, investigators learned that one of the couple's vehicles, a gold Oldsmobile Alero, had been stolen. Fourteen days later, police in Wilton Manors, Florida, found a man sleeping in the stolen car.

During the investigation, detectives found a can of pepper spray inside the truck of the vehicle with a bloody fingerprint on it. That blood was sent to a crime lab where it was determined that it was Hardwick's blood.

The home of Robert Hardwick and Vernice Reese was set on fire after they were killed in 2000.However, the case went cold from there. Cold case detective Paul Taylor said he started to review the case in 2023, later finding Romero's DNA at the crime scene.

Taylor said while he and his co-worker were sorting through the case file, they came across a picture of a keychain that was recovered from the ignition of the Oldsmobile when Romero was arrested in 2000.

"On that key chain was a (picture of a) young Hispanic female," Taylor said. "I was able to confirm that the picture on the keychain is Mr. Romero's daughter."

Robert Hardwick and Vernice Reese were found dead in their St. Lucie County home in 2000.While working on the case, Taylor discovered that Romero was already in prison serving a life sentence on unrelated charges since 2002.

Working with the state attorney's office, Taylor said on Jan. 7 he presented the case to a grand jury and received an indictment for Romero.

Romero, a citizen of Honduras, was in prison on charges of kidnapping and rape in a Broward County case.

The couple's stolen gold Oldsmobile Alero was found in Broward County two weeks after the crime."I think the big break was that keychain," Taylor said. "Even the state attorney, whenever I told him about this keychain, (he said), 'You got to be kidding me. Come to my office right now.'"

Romero claimed that he was only sleeping in the car for a nap, but investigators found evidence that he was probably living in the vehicle.

"If you're climbing (into the vehicle) to take a nap for a couple of hours, why would you take the keys out of the ignition and put your daughter's picture on it?" Taylor outlined.

Investigators said they believe that in 2000 Romero was originally living in Louisiana and was driving in an old truck, that was stolen, to South Florida to see family members. However, Taylor said Romero broke down near the couple's home in St. Lucie County, killed them and stole their Oldsmobile.

Detectives say a picture of the suspect's daughter on a keychain was critical to making an arrest in the case.WPTV reporter Tyler Hatfield spoke to Allan Reese Jr., Vernice Reese's grandson, on Thursday, who said he's thankful justice is being served.

"I can smile ... look up and say, 'Grandma, it's over,'" Reese Jr. said. "You can get your rest."

Reese Jr. described his grandmother as a "loving" and "caring" person.

"She'd give you the clothes off her back," Reese Jr. said.

Her grandson also said that Robert Hardwick was "down to earth."

"He always kept a smile," Reese Jr. said.

Taylor cited "huge advancements" in DNA technology and also speaking to new witnesses to help make the arrest.

An illegal alien has been arrested following a deadly crash that killed two BYU students in Orem, Utah.

Hailee York, 21, of Lehi, and Ashlyn Hanzon, 21, of Pearland, Texas, were killed when Ceasar Castellon-Flores flew through an intersection on Friday. Castellon-Flores did not have a license and was in the country illegally.

An illegal migrant has been charged with murdering his girlfriend after her body was found buried in woods in Maryland, authorities said.

Keycy Robinson Alexis Barrera-Rosa, 23, was arrested after investigators discovered Lesbia Mileth Ramirez Guerra’s remains dumped deep within the Cedarville State Forest on April 17, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.

Barrera-Rosa, a Guatemalan national, had reported his girlfriend missing on April 2, alleging that she had vanished two days earlier from the home in Waldorf where they lived with her kids, authorities said.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Barrera-Rosa for her murder, as well as his uncle, Rolvin Eduardo Bererra Bererra, 37, for accessory after the fact of murder.

The uncle told investigators that he had helped bury the body, according to Southern Maryland News.

The accused killer was eventually nabbed by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and is being held at the Farmville Detention Center in Virginia as he awaits extradition to Maryland, the feds saidTuesday.

The pair were both first apprehended by the Border Patrol in April 2019 after they crossed illegally into the US near El Paso, Texas, according to ICE officials.

They were both given notices to appear at a later date before a federal immigration judge.

Another illegal truck driver has been arrested following the death of a Maryland father in a fatal vehicle accident.

Dawood Hussain, an illegal Pakistani alien, was charged with felony vehicular homicide after driving his tractor-trailer the wrong way on a Pennsylvania highway in October 2023.

Hussain crashed into the vehicle of Hendry Tamarez Nunez, a Maryland resident and father of two.

According to police reports and security camera footage, he took the wrong exit (using an off-ramp instead of an on-ramp), ignored a “wrong way” sign and a one-way indicator, and drove northbound in the southbound lanes at about 44 mph. His truck collided head-on with the vehicle driven by Nunez.

Although Hussain was charged in July, 2025, he was freed on a $100,000 unsecured bail.

On March 13, 2026, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested him during a scheduled interview with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in Virginia. USCIS had identified his pending criminal charges through screening and flagged him as a public safety threat. He remains in custody pending trial.

USCIS notes, “Rigorous screening and vetting process identified Hussain’s criminal charges and flagged him as a public safety threat. Officers promptly alerted Immigration and Customs Enforcement of Hussain’s scheduled interview at USCIS’ Arlington, Virginia, office. ICE arrested him without incident, and he will remain in custody pending trial.”

USCIS spokesman Matthew J. Tragesser shared, “Illegal aliens should not be operating 80,000-pound tractor-trailers on American roads.”

“This tragedy, like many others, was completely preventable. Under President Trump’s leadership, USCIS remains committed to safeguarding our communities by helping to ensure dangerous illegal aliens are removed from our country, as well as supporting the president’s call for even tougher measures to prevent future truck tragedies.”

USDOT Secretary Sean Duffy has made removing dangerous, unqualified drivers a priority, focused on safety first, no CDLs for those in the country illegally or unable to meet basic qualifications (English, training, immigration status verification), and holding states accountable with funding consequences if they don’t comply.

Safety experts estimate that as many as 130,000 illegal-alien truck drivers may be operating in the United States, with tens of thousands believed to have obtained licenses through illegitimate means.

The Gateway Pundit has reported on the deadly consequences of illegal alien truckers.

Bekzhan Beishekeev, a 30-year-old illegal alien from Kyrgyzstan who entered the US on Joe Biden’s open border invitation in December 2023, killed four Americans. The Amish victims were identified as 50-year-old Henry Eicher, 25-year-old Menno Eicher, 19-year-old Paul Eicher, and 23-year-old Simon Girod.

25-year-old Kamalpreet Singh killed a 29-year-old man on the morning of December 11 after he crushed the victim’s vehicle between two trucks while driving northbound on SR 167. Singh first illegally entered the US in Lukeville, Arizona, in December 2023 and was released by Biden’s border patrol.

On November 24, 2025, Rajinder Kumar, a criminal illegal alien from India, jackknifed his semi-truck and trailer, blocking both lanes of U.S. Highway 20. A Subaru Outback collided with the semi-truck, tragically killing both the driver, William Micah Carter, and passenger, Jennifer Lynn Lower.

56-year-old Goderdzi Gujabidze, an illegal alien from Georgia, caused a multicar crash that killed Indiana National Guardsman Terry Frye and injured three others.

On March 13, 2025, a 17-vehicle pileup occurred in a construction zone on Interstate 35 in Austin, Texas, killing five people, including an infant and a four-year-old child, and hospitalizing eleven others.

The driver, Solomun Weldekeal Araya, a 37-year-old Ethiopian national on a work visa, was hauling freight for Amazon.

In May of 2025, in Thomasville, Alabama, a loaded semi-truck struck four vehicles stopped at a red light at highway speed, killing two people and injuring four others. The driver, Andrii Dmyterko, a 45-year-old Ukrainian national on a work visa, was on his third day on the job. Authorities reported that neither the driver nor his passenger spoke English and communicated only in Russian.

An illegal alien convicted sex offender wanted in the sanctuary state of California is accused of killing an elderly couple in Benton County, Arkansas, in a drunk driving crash.

Jose Luis Gomez, a 35-year-old illegal alien convicted sex offender and child abuser, has been arrested and charged in Benton County on two counts of negligent homicide and drunk driving.

According to police, on March 26, 70-year-old Michael Cordes and his wife, 67-year-old Freda Cordes, were riding their Harley-Davidson motorcycle when Gomez allegedly failed to yield to oncoming traffic and crashed into the couple.

Michael and Freda were pronounced dead at the scene, while Gomez suffered no injuries. Following a sobriety test and blood draw, police determined that Gomez was drunk at the time of the crash.

Surveillance footage of the crash, police say, confirmed that Gomez was at fault.

Arkansas State Police Director Col. Mike Hagar called the deaths of Michael and Freda Cordes “entirely preventable” because Gomez should have never been in the United States.

This week, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials revealed that Gomez was convicted in 2013 for cruelty towards a child and, in 2016, convicted of oral sex with a child under 16 years old.

For the child sex crime conviction, Gomez received just two years in prison.

At the time of the deadly crash, Gomez was wanted on a felony warrant in the sanctuary jurisdiction of Los Angeles County, California.

ICE agents have lodged a detainer against Gomez, requesting that the Benton County Sheriff’s Office notify them if the illegal alien is released from jail at any time.

“I’m grateful to the Arkansas State Police for arresting this criminal and thankful that President Trump is working quickly to deport violent, criminal illegals,” Arkansas Gov. This arrest comes as the Department of Transportation’s new rule barring many aliens, including asylum-seekers, recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, and those holding Temporary Protected Status, from obtaining a commercial driver’s license (CDL) took effect March 16. The rule makes illegal aliens like Hussain ineligible for a CDL and ensures safer roads for Americans.

Democrat Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger was caught on camera running away from a reporter asking about whether she would reverse her sanctuary policies and begin cooperating with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to remove dangerous illegal aliens from the state.

Spanberger turned away without comment as a reporter pressed her on Fairfax County’s sanctuary policies and repeated calls from federal immigration authorities.

The reporter specifically asked about discontinuing sanctuary practices in light of DHS data showing that three out of every four murder defendants in Fairfax County murder trials this year are illegal aliens.

DHS has directly urged Spanberger to end policies that shield criminal illegal aliens.

In an April X post, the agency stated, “Of the four defendants in Fairfax County murder trials this year, THREE are ILLEGAL ALIENS. Governor Spanberger must end her sanctuary policies that allow these illegal aliens onto our streets and work with DHS to protect the citizens of the commonwealth.”

One of Spanberger’s first official actions after taking office was to terminate all 287(g) agreements in Virginia.

These agreements had allowed state and local law enforcement to partner with ICE to identify and hand over criminal illegal aliens in custody.

Spanberger has also supported legislation that would further restrict local cooperation with federal immigration enforcement, including requirements for judicial warrants before honoring ICE detainers.

Fairfax County, a known sanctuary jurisdiction, has seen a string of high-profile violent crimes allegedly committed by illegal aliens under Spanberger’s tenure.

In February, Stephanie Minter, 41, was stabbed to death at a bus stop by Abdul Jalloh, an illegal alien from Sierra Leone with more than 30 prior arrests.

Fairfax County officials released him despite an ICE detainer.

In March, Misael Lopez Gomez, who illegally crossed the border in July 2023, was accused of murdering his three-month-old daughter. DHS issued a detainer requesting that he not be released.

“This cold-blooded killer murdered his own three-month-old daughter. We are calling on Governor Spanberger to commit to not releasing this barbaric animal from jail into Virginia communities,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “This monster should have never been allowed in our country by the Biden administration. We need cooperation from sanctuary politicians to stop criminals from being released from jail to perpetrate more crimes and create more innocent victims.”

Also in March, Anibal Armando Chavarria Muy, a Guatemalan illegal alien, was charged with second-degree murder after repeatedly stabbing a man.

DHS has highlighted multiple other killings linked to illegal aliens in Fairfax, including a mob murder and MS-13-related executions.

The agency has stated that illegal aliens accounted for 75% of murder defendants in the county this year.

DHS has repeatedly called on Spanberger and Fairfax officials not to release these individuals back into communities, citing the county’s refusal to honor over 1,150 ICE detainers in recent years.

A new Washington Post-Schar School poll shows Spanberger’s job approval rating at just 47% approve to 46% disapprove after only a few months in office, the highest early-term disapproval rating for any Virginia governor since polling began in the 1990s.

Critics argue that her shift from a centrist campaign image to left-leaning governance on issues such as immigration and redistricting has alienated her constituents.

The weak border policies from previous Democrat regimes continue to have deadly consequences for innocent American citizens.

As the Springfield Daily Citizen reported, 18-year-old Yefry Archaga was taken into custody on Tuesday in Webb City, Missouri, and charged with first-degree murder after killing a 15-year-old teenager named Miles Young last month.

Archaga is Honduran. He is listed in jail records with an active immigration detainer (Hold for ICE). He is reportedly originally from Honduras.

Archaga also reportedly has ties to gangs in the area.

Another suspect, 18-year-old Praize King, was previously arrested and charged with first-degree murder as well.

According to Ozarks First, a juvenile suspect arrived at a Springfield residence on March 12 with Archaga, two juvenile witnesses, and another underage suspect to discuss how to lure Young into a trap. The juvenile suspect believed Young was responsible for the victim’s death in a homicide case last year.

Then, the group put their plan into motion that day.

Ozarks First reported:

The juvenile allegedly met up with Archaga, two juvenile witnesses, and an adult suspect before meeting with Young, driving around Springfield. The young suspect in the statement reportedly discussed “setting up” Young, later arriving at an apartment to retrieve a second vehicle.

Archaga sat in the second vehicle as the suspect drove him and the two witnesses, as the juvenile suspect drove the other vehicle, described as a black Mercedes, which was planned to pick up Young.

When the juvenile suspect arrived at the residence, Young was with another juvenile witness, while speaking on the phone with another juvenile witness. The two witnesses reportedly told Young not to go with the juvenile suspect, thinking it was a “set up,” due to the suspect not liking Young.

The witnesses reported to law enforcement that the juvenile suspect blamed Young for the death of a victim in a 2025 homicide case.

The juvenile suspect then drove Young toward West Maplewood Street and then stopped while the adult suspect blocked the road.

Young fled the vehicle in panic and was chased by Archaga, who was wearing a ski mask and carrying a Glock-style pistol. Young was then shot multiple times and fell to the ground.

Young reportedly begged for his life, saying, “I just don’t wanna die.” Archaga then fired the fatal shot.

Greene County deputies and Emergency Medical Services rushed to the scene and tried to save Young’s life before taking him to Cox South Hospital. The boy was later pronounced dead from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Archaga is currently in the Greene County Jail and is being held without bond.

A Mexican national is accused of slitting his wife’s throat with a pocketknife in Dallas, Texas, after the couple had wed just weeks prior, Breitbart News has learned.

On March 18, 24-year-old Francisco Mendez Marin of Mexico was arrested in Carrollton, Texas, and charged with homicide after police alleged that he murdered his 20-year-old wife, Karla Rangel, by slitting her throat with a pocketknife.

“This depraved animal murdered his own wife just one month after they were married by brutally slitting her throat with a pocketknife,” the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Lauren Bis said.

“This illegal alien should have never been allowed into our country to commit this heinous murder,” Bis said. “ICE requested authorities in Dallas to not release this cold-blooded killer onto the streets.

Thankfully, Dallas politicians cooperate with ICE, so together we can ensure this murderer is NEVER loose in American communities.”

Police said Marin and Rangel had been married for less than a month when the murder occurred and that when they responded to the incident, Marin was covered in blood and carrying a bloody pocketknife.

Marin remains in custody of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and is being held at the Dallas County Jail. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer against him.

Chicago, Illinois, Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) is responding to 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman’s murder, allegedly at the hands of an illegal alien, by saying the federal government ought to pass amnesty for illegal aliens.

During a press conference this week, Johnson was asked about his remarks at a recent No Kings rally in Chicago in which he said, “We have to end the assaults against immigrants,” just as Sheridan Gorman’s family was holding the Loyola University freshman’s funeral service and burial.

“At the exact moment that she was being laid to rest, you were rallying, screaming into a microphone for the rights of illegal aliens,” the reporter told Johnson. “Many people, hundreds of thousands, in fact, of real Chicagoans have contacted me and have told me that they thought that was an incredibly poor taste … very, almost hateful. Black and brown people, by the way, told me that they found that to be that you were dancing on her grave, literally that you were up and down just dancing, doing a big dance on her grave.”

“Last week, I asked you if you would apologize, because your policies directly led to Sheridan’s death, your policies. Would you take this opportunity… to apologize to the parents of Sheridan Gorman?” the reporter asked Johnson, to which he responded:

Here’s what I’ll do, I will again acknowledge the tragedy of the loss of life here. And look, burying a child that no parent should have to do especially as someone who is a parent. The tragedy that occurred is one that, quite frankly, it challenges us to do better to ensure that we are protecting people. As far as the call for No Kings, what I said, and I still stand by this, is that we do have to protect working people, we do have to ensure the immigrant community is not being assaulted.

Violating people’s constitutional rights does not make us safer … and I will continue to stand by that. [Emphasis added]

Johnson added that in the wake of Sheridan’s murder, Congress ought to pass amnesty for the millions of illegal aliens who remain in the United States.

“If this was really about safety, we would dig in and pass comprehensive immigration reform policy, so has the federal government failed in that regard? It certainly has,” Johnson said.

According to police, at around 1:00 a.m. on March 19, Sheridan was walking with a group of friends near Tobey Prinz Beach in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago when 25-year-old Venezuelan illegal alien Jose Medina-Medina, wearing a mask, allegedly approached the group and started shooting in their direction.

Sheridan ran for her life away from Medina-Medina, but police allege that the illegal alien shot her in the back, killing her immediately.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials have said Medina-Medina was apprehended crossing the southern border on May 9, 2023, but was released into the United States interior under former President Joe Biden and Alejandro Mayorkas’s expansive catch and release policy.

Then, in June 2023, Medina-Medina was arrested in Chicago for shoplifting. Thanks to the city and state’s sanctuary policies, the illegal alien was never turned over to ICE agents.

Two men, brothers, who are in the US illegally from Honduras charged in a Sept 16, 2024 Joplin Homicide. Court records say they ran out of money on the way from Kansas City, Mo. to Tulsa, Okla. where they were going to buy meth.

About 3:30 a.m. it was observed on camera they shot and killed Jesse Gilmore, 63, of Oklahoma at the Road Ranger truck stop. Then stole his car and dumped his body along I-44 near there.

After fleeing Joplin they went onto Kansas City to commit more crimes. One brother shot a woman and then pistol whipped another, attempting to steal a car. Jose Cantarero Benitez, 20, remains in the Jackson County Jail to face those charges in the Kansas City area. He is also charged in the Jasper County crimes.

Adin Cantarero Benitez, 26, was extradited from Kansas to Missouri. He is being is being held in the Jasper County Jail on charges of Homicide.

The body of Jesse Gilmore, 63, of Oklahoma was discovered along I-44 Monday. Investigators now reveal he was murdered.

“After an investigation, it was determined that the victim in this case was shot in the head on the parking lot of the Road Ranger gas station, 2101 S. Prigmore Ave.”

The red Chevy Cobalt they were seeking to locate with damage to the right side, was found in Independence, Mo. The car was owned by the victim, Gilmore.

Investigators have arrested two men, brothers, who are in the US illegally from Honduras regarding the Joplin homicide and other crimes.

“Adin Aman Cantarero Benitez, 26, approached the victim who was sitting in his car on the parking lot at approximately 3:30 a.m. Monday. The suspect had a brief conversation with the victim and then shot him. The suspect then got into the victim’s car, the red Chevy Cobalt, and briefly met with the other suspect behind the gas station.

They then both drove east on I-44 and pulled over at the 14.8 mile marker and pulled the victim out of the car and into the ditch.

The two suspects, one driving the victim’s car and the other driving a blue Toyota Tundra pickup, then drove to Independence, Mo. The suspect driving the pickup, Adin Aman Cantarero Benitez, 26, was subsequently arrested for DWI at approximately 10 p.m. Monday, in Independence. At that time, it was not known to law enforcement about his connection with the Jasper County incident.

On Tuesday just after 5 p.m. the Independence Police Department was called in reference to the second suspect, Jose Cantarero Benitez, 20, who had attempted to carjack another vehicle and shot a woman in the chest. He fled that scene and was later arrested by KCPD after they had received a call of another woman that he had pistol whipped. After a foot pursuit, he was arrested.

The female victim that was shot is reportedly in critical condition.

The two suspects in this case are brothers and both are illegal immigrants from Honduras. Charges for first-degree murder, armed criminal action and first-degree robbery have been submitted on Adin Aman Benitez to the Jasper County Prosecutor. Charges on Jose Benitez are expected to be filed.”

The Jasper County homicide victim, Gilmore, is scheduled for autopsy Friday in Ozark, Mo. at SW Forensics.

BEAUFORT, SC (Sept. 19, 2024) – A speeding drunken driver who caused a deadly multi-vehicle collision at a Bluffton intersection is heading to prison.

Carlos Mauricos Acosta Galvez, 40, of Bluffton, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Beaufort County General Sessions Court to felony driving under the influence with death in the Aug. 6, 2023, collision that killed motorcyclist Marc Ernest Garrity. Galvez was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Carlos Mauricos Acosta Galvez Galvez was driving more than 100 mph and had a blood-alcohol content level of .169, more than twice the legal limit, when he crashed into a SUV that struck Garrity. Following the collision at the intersection of U.S. 278 and Buckwalter Parkway, Galvez tried to leave the scene but was arrested by law enforcement officers before escaping.

“The facts in this case made it clear Mr. Galvez had absolutely no regard for the value of human life,” said Sara E. Malone of the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office, who prosecuted the case. “He was sentenced accordingly in state court and also faces federal charges.”

On March 21, 2024, Galvez was also convicted in U.S. District Court for illegal reentry of an alien. He was sentenced to time served and one year of supervised release. His federal case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations. The federal case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Dean H. Secor.

Galvez also pleaded guilty Tuesday to driving under the influence resulting in great bodily injury. He received a 15-year sentence. Both state sentences are to be served concurrently. Once Galvez completes his state prison sentence, he will then face deportation.

Galvez’s criminal record includes convictions for being an alien present without admission or parole (2020).

Circuit Court Judge Carmen T. Mullen handed down the sentence.

Malone is a member of the Solicitor’s Office Special Victims Unit, which prosecutes domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and other crimes against the vulnerable. She primarily prosecutes cases in Beaufort and Colleton counties. She has been with the Solicitor’s office since 2022.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office arrested six men it says were in the country illegally after a man was run over and killed while lying in a driveway in Mulberry, then dragged inside his home.

On Sept. 7, Polk deputies responded to a 911 call reporting the death of Yoni Ronaldos Perez-Garcia, 21, at Willow Oak Mobile Home Park in Mulberry. The caller said the man was dead inside his home, but when deputies arrived, they noticed his injuries were consistent with being run over by a vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said.

Detectives from traffic unit opened an investigation and learned there had been a large house party outside one of the trailers in the mobile home park on Sept. 6. Nearly everyone attending was drinking alcohol.

A witness told deputies that Ponciano Cinto-Ramirez, 52, got into a van that was parked in the driveway, put it into reverse and drove backward over Perez-Garcia before leaving. People yelled at Cinto-Ramirez that he had run over Perez-Garcia, but he continued to drive way and parked outside lot 32, the Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies went to lot 32 and found several people inside who refused to come out. Eventually, they came out one by one but still refused to give the deputies information. Two of the men presented provided false IDs, the Sheriff's Office said.

Once everyone was in custody and interviewed, deputies determined there were six men who had entered the country illegally from Guatemala.

Cinto-Ramirez was arrested on charges of first-degree felony leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death, second-degree felony driving without a license causing death and resisting arrest.

Alfredo Cinto-Ramirez, 48, faces felony charges of resisting arrest and giving false information to law enforcement.

Rigoberto Lopez Morales, 22, faces one felony count of resisting arrest.

Leonel Cinto Lopez, 24, faces felony charges of resisting arrest and giving false information to a law enforcement officer.

Jacinto Lopez Morales, 46, faces one felony count of resisting arrest.

Ramiro Cinto Lopez, 23, faces charges of resisting arrest, possession of an altered firearm and giving false information to law enforcement.

After Nearly Two Months, An Illegal Alien Has Been Arrested For The Murder Of Two Alabama Teens Whose Bodies Were Discovered In A Wooded Area Near Percy Priest Lake Close To Nashville.

23-year-old Josue Hernandez-Moxje was arrested in Kenner, Louisiana and then extradited back to Nashville. He is charged with two counts of criminal homicide for the shooting deaths of 18-year-old Jamie Valdez-Garcia and 19-year-old Amir Landan Wilkerson.

Police were notified on Monday, April 28, that a resident had found the bodies on Army Corps of Engineers property while walking a trail between the Lincoya Bay Apartments and Percy Priest Lake. Both victims had several gunshot wounds.

According to police, the two teens traveled from Alabaster, Alabama, to Nashville on Sunday. Their reason for the trip was unknown and no motive has been released at this time.

The investigation into the double homicide was led by Metro Nashville Police Department’s Homicide and Specialized Investigations Division. They were assisted by federal ATF and Homeland Security agents.

Hernandez-Moxje was identified as a suspect, and officers entered his license plate into a nationwide database. A license plate reader in Kenner, Louisiana, hit on the number and he was arrested on June 6 by Kenner police. He was held on outstanding warrants from Nashville for domestic assault, theft, and bad checks.

Hernandez-Moxje was returned to Nashville on Tuesday night. Police say evidence linking him to the double homicide was found in his vehicle, and he will face charges.

Inmate records now show that Hernandez-Moxje, a native of Honduras, has an ICE hold. He will remain in custody until he is released to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. An immigration detainer hold most likely means he is in this country illegally.

Dayren Roque Lopez, 41, was apprehended Monday in Zavala County, Texas, following a multi-state manhunt. He is accused of killing Dayana Garcia, whose body was found in a Cleveland residence on Sunday.

(NewsNation) — A man who entered the U.S. through a federal immigration program has been arrested in Texas for the murder of a 25-year-old woman in Cleveland, Tennessee, authorities said.

Dayren Roque Lopez, 41, from Cuba, was apprehended Monday in Zavala County, Texas, following a multistate manhunt. He is accused of killing Dayana Garcia, whose body was found in a Cleveland residence Sunday.

Cleveland Police Department officials said they discovered Garcia’s body while executing a search warrant at 315 Northcrest Circle after receiving a missing person report.

Lopez, who had fled Tennessee, was captured by Zavala County Sheriff’s deputies after they received an alert to be on the lookout for his vehicle. Deputies located a 2008 brown Toyota Corolla with Tennessee plates and conducted a felony traffic stop in La Pryor, Texas.

Sources confirmed to NewsNation that Lopez entered the U.S. on August 5, 2023, through San Ysidro, California, using the CBP One app, a mobile application for certain immigration processes. His scheduled immigration court hearing was set for November in Memphis.

Despite a previous domestic violence incident in February, Lopez was allowed to remain in the U.S. as there was no conviction, authorities said.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., reacted to the arrest, saying Lopez entered because of failed border policy.

The number of encounters with people on terror watchlists has gone up over the years.

The U.S. Border Patrol reported 172 such encounters in fiscal year 2023, up from 100 in 2022 and 16 in 2021. The watchlists include known or suspected terrorists as well as their associates.

At least 99 people from the FBI terror watchlist crossed into the country illegally and were released after being apprehended by border agents last year, according to Department of Homeland Security data obtained by the House Judiciary Committee.

In June 2024, President Joe Biden released a series of executive actions capping migrant crossing until border encounters remain consistently low — under 2,500 per day for an entire week — in an effort to give Border Patrol more time to handle each migrant’s situation.

The president also clarified his use of executive powers, saying he was doing what Congress would not about a bipartisan immigration deal that failed in the Senate after Trump urged GOP lawmakers to vote against it.

Jose Medina-Medina, the Venezuelan illegal alien who shot and killed 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman earlier this month, is unable to read or write and has severe brain damage, according to his attorney.

Not only is he a criminal who was released back onto the street after a prior arrest, but he’s mentally incompetent.

This is the “best and brightest” who Biden and the Left want to flood our country with.

The teen was shot and killed near campus in Chicago, Illinois, over the weekend by the 25-year-old illegal alien who entered the US under the Biden Regime and was later arrested, then released from local custody under Chicago’s sanctuary city policies.

According to Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, whose policies allowed this violent killer to roam free, however, Trump is to blame for Gorman’s death. As The Gateway Pundit reported, Pritzker credited “a failure to have comprehensive immigration reform” and “a failure of the president to follow his own edict to go after the worst of the worst” for the murder.

During a court hearing on Friday, Medina, who is charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of attempted first-degree murder, one count of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, and three counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, reportedly became “sick off camera” and closed his eyes several times.

His public defender, Julie Koehler, told the court that he grew up in Venezuela and attended school only until he was seven years old. He is completely illiterate.

As a teenager, he was allegedly shot in the head during a 2018 robbery while living in Colombia, and he now has brain damage, stunted development, and memory problems.

He also allegedly contracted tuberculosis in a migrant shelter after he illegally entered the United States, the attorney said.

Kholer is requesting that he remain in detention pending trial in order to evade a detainer and pending arrest from ICE upon his release. She claims that he could be deported to a third country “without the benefit of due process.”

The victim’s family said in a statement that “nothing said in that courtroom” changes the reality they face of losing a young daughter. They further questioned, “How does something like this happen in a place where a young woman should have been safe?” noting, “That is not a political question. It is a human one.”

She was 18 years old. She was exactly where she was supposed to be—living her life, surrounded by friends, doing something entirely normal. There was nothing reckless, nothing unusual, nothing that should have placed her in danger. And yet, she is gone. That is the reality we are forced to confront. And nothing said in that courtroom changes it.

What we heard today forces a broader question that cannot be ignored: How does something like this happen in a place where a young woman should have been safe?

That is not a political question. It is a human one. Because if we allow ourselves to accept this as inevitable—as something that simply happens—then we are accepting a world where young people cannot safely live their lives in the most ordinary ways. That is a standard no family should be asked to accept.

The student newspaper at Dominican University, located just west of Chicago, has launched an “ICE Tracker” mapping Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity in surrounding neighborhoods, just days after an illegal alien from Venezuela was charged in the murder of 18-year-old Loyola University Chicago freshman Sheridan Gorman.

The Dominican Star announced its effort to impede immigration enforcement on Wednesday.

The paper said it was directly inspired by a similar tracker created last fall by The Loyola Phoenix, the student newspaper at Gorman’s university.

Staff from the two papers even met to share details on how to build and operate the tool.

“We became inspired by their initiative and decided to create our own addition to serve the Dominican University community,” the Dominican Star editorial team wrote. “After having a meeting with [Loyola Phoenix editor-in-chief Lilli Malone and managing editor Julia Pentasuglio], we gathered more information to make this launch possible.”

The tracker consists of an online map with pins marking confirmed ICE activity.

Readers are asked to submit tips via the paper’s Instagram, Facebook, or email, including photos or videos taken from a safe distance, along with the location, time, number of agents, and vehicle details if possible.

The paper’s staff says it will verify reports before adding them to the map and will also monitor local community Facebook groups for additional sightings.

The launch comes amid intense national attention on the killing of Gorman.

On the night of March 19, the 18-year-old student was shot and killed while walking with friends near the pier at Tobey Prinz Beach in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood.

Chicago police say 25-year-old Jose Medina-Medina, a Venezuelan national, approached the group wearing dark clothing and a mask, produced a handgun, and fired.

Gorman was struck in the back; the bullet exited through her neck.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have described the shooting as random and have charged Medina-Medina with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and aggravated discharge of a firearm. He remains in custody.

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed that Medina-Medina is a “Venezuelan criminal illegal alien” who was apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol on May 9, 2023, and released into the United States under Biden administration policies.

One month later, he was arrested for shoplifting in Chicago but was released again.

ICE has lodged a detainer requesting that he be turned over to federal immigration authorities after any state proceedings conclude.

The Dominican Star’s announcement did not mention Gorman’s murder.

The Loyola Phoenix, whose own student was the victim, had already been running its ICE tracker since October 2025 and continues to promote it.

The paper drew criticism earlier this month after it posted, and then quickly removed, a social-media headline that referred to the suspect as an “Immigrant Man Charged in Murder of Sheridan Gorman, DHS Involved.”

An editor’s note later explained that the wording “didn’t reflect the most important elements in the story” and was taken down “to prevent any further harm to affected community members.”

An 83-year-old veteran who was randomly shoved onto subway tracks in New York City by an illegal immigrant with a long criminal history has died from his injuries, the Department of Homeland Security said Thursday.

Richard Williams, a retired Air Force pilot, died on March 17 after he and another man were allegedly pushed onto the tracks at the Lexington Avenue-63rd Station days earlier.

The alleged attacker, Honduran national Bairon Hernandez, 34, was arrested March 10 and faces a murder charge.

John Pena, 30, the other man pushed onto the tracks, helped pull Williams back onto the platform moments before a train rolled into the station, the New York Post reported.

Following the attack, Williams was taken to a hospital where doctors said he suffered a brain bleed and underwent surgery. He had no brain activity following the procedure, doctors said.

Williams' death has been ruled a homicide.

"I want him to go to the Venezuela prison, the worst place he could go to," his daughter, Debbie Williams, previously told the newspaper. "I want him to suffer for the rest of his life. Prison justice would be appropriate."

She said her father had recently won a five-year battle with prostate cancer six months ago.

Hernandez, whom the Department of Homeland Security called a "serial criminal," has been deported from the United States four times, the agency said.

"Bairon Posada-Herandez is a serial criminal, and four-time deported illegal alien from Honduras who should never have been able to walk our streets and harm innocent Americans," said Deputy Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.

Federal authorities are asking New York not to release Hernandez back onto the streets. New York has adopted sanctuary policies limiting cooperation between local and federal authorities.

U.S. Immigration and Custioms Enforcement has lodged a detainer for Hernandez. Fox News Digital has reached out to Mayor Zohran Mamdani's office and the New York Public Defenders office.

Hernandez's criminal history includes 15 prior charges such as simple assault, domestic violence, obstruction of police, possession of a weapon, drug possession, and aggravated assault.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) doubled down on protecting illegal aliens, a week after 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman was allegedly murdered by an illegal alien.

During a press conference on Wednesday, where Johnson unveiled an “Abolish ICE” snowplow, Johnson was asked if he had reconsidered “rescheduling this event” after the death of Gorman.

“This is a terrible tragedy, and what I’ve said from the very beginning, I’m going to continue to use every single tool that’s available to me to protect the residents of the city of Chicago,” Johnson said. “This tragedy is not going to deter us from our work. In fact, it’s going to challenge us all to double down on our efforts to ensure that we are protecting every single individual across neighborhoods.”

The unveiling of the snowplow with “Abolish ICE” on it came after a “citywide contest to name six new salt trucks,” according to the Chicago Tribune.

“Abolish ICE” was “submitted over 9,000 times,” according to the outlet.

United States Air Force veteran Richard Williams has died at the age of 83 after he was pushed onto subway tracks in New York City, allegedly at the hands of a four-time deported illegal alien.

On March 10, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) arrested 34-year-old illegal alien Bairon Posada-Herandez of Honduras on attempted murder charges after he allegedly pushed Richard Williams and Jhon Rodriguez onto the subway tracks as they waited for the train in the Upper East Side.

The attack, police say, was random. Rodriguez has said that he saw Williams, who has three daughters and two grandchildren, bleeding from his head when he looked over after being pushed onto the tracks.

For weeks, Williams had been in the hospital in critical condition. His family said he was fighting for his life, but this week, Williams died from his injuries.

Now, Posada-Herandez has been indicted on second-degree murder charges.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had been pleading with Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) to ensure that Posada-Herandez was not released from jail at any time, instead turning him over to federal agents.

According to ICE, Posada-Hernandez first crossed the United States-Mexico border on Jan. 2, 2008 and has been subsequently deported on four different occasions to his native Honduras.

Sometime after his last deportation in 2020, Posada-Hernandez again crossed the border illegally at an unknown date and location.

Posada-Hernandez’s criminal record in the U.S. includes 15 prior charges for crimes like simple assault, domestic violence, obstruction of police, possession of a weapon, drug possession, and aggravated assault.

An illegal alien, released into the United States by former President Joe Biden’s administration, is now accused of killing 62-year-old Christopher Babcock in Pitt County, North Carolina.

This week, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25-year-old illegal alien Erasto Lopez-Gomez of Mexico and charged him with felony hit-and-run resulting in death.

According to police, on March 11, Lopez-Gomez was driving a vehicle when he hit Christopher Babcock, who was driving his motorcycle. Babcock was thrown from his motorcycle as police say the illegal alien fled the scene, leaving the husband and stepfather to die.

Babcock lived in Winterville, North Carolina, and “was known by those around him as someone who would truly give you the shirt off his back,” his obituary reads.

“He never hesitated to help someone in need and had a contagious laugh that could brighten any room,” the obituary continues. “Chris had a sarcastic sense of humor and a warm heart, and he deeply loved his family and his dogs. In his free time, Chris enjoyed cheering on the Buffalo Bills and pursuing his passion for photography. Capturing moments through his camera brought him great joy.”

Christopher leaves behind his wife and two stepsons.

“I’m broken,” Donna Babcock, Christopher’s wife, told WITN. “That person took my life that day as well.”

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials reveal that Lopez-Gomez crossed the southern border on March 1, 2024, near Tucson, Arizona, and was apprehended by Border Patrol.

He was subsequently released into the U.S. interior thanks to the Biden administration’s expansive catch and release policy.

“This criminal illegal alien should have never been in our country and able to kill Christopher Babcock,” the Department of Homeland Security’s Lauren Bis said.

She continued:

The Biden Administration’s catch and release policies let this criminal into our community, and now a widow is mourning the loss of her husband. This is the second hit-and-run by an illegal alien just this week. These preventable tragedies are the result of the previous administration’s open border policies.

Lopez-Gomez is being held at the Pitt County Detention Center on a $2 million bond. ICE officials have asked that law enforcement contact them if the illegal alien is released from jail at any time.

The White House is honoring 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman, murdered in the sanctuary city of Chicago, Illinois, allegedly by an illegal alien who should have been previously turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

In a post this week, the White House paid tribute to Sheridan, who was a freshman at Loyola University Chicago when she was gunned down in a random shooting while hanging out with friends. Jose Medina-Medina, a 25-year-old illegal alien from Venezuela, has been charged with her murder.

“A preventable tragedy,” the White House posted to social media. “Sheridan Gorman was murdered by an illegal alien released into the U.S. in 2023 under the Biden administration — a direct result of failed border & sanctuary city policies.”

“The Trump Admin is working hard to prevent tragedies like this from happening again,” the post reads. “Prayers are with her loved ones.”

ICE officials have confirmed that Medina-Medina was first apprehended at the southern border on May 9, 2023, and that, as a result of the Biden administration’s expansive catch and release policy, he was released from Border Patrol custody into the United States interior, where he made his way to Chicago.

A month later, in June 2023, Medina-Medina was arrested in Chicago for shoplifting, but ICE was not contacted about his arrest, thanks to the city and state’s sanctuary policies, and therefore, he was not turned over to federal agents to face deportation.

In jurisdictions where local law enforcement cooperate with ICE, illegal aliens who end up in city and county jails can be handed off to agents so that they are not released back into the community, as Medina-Medina was.

The illegal alien remains in police custody and is being treated for tuberculosis.

As Littlestown Police Chief Charles Kellar put it, Rebecca Funt "did everything right."

On the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, Funt arrived at Littlestown's center square, and she pushed the pedestrian crossing button. She paused, waiting for the crossing signal to turn on.

The crossing signal activated, and she began to cross King Street, staying in the center of a marked crosswalk.

"I know she was careful like that," Kellar said.

Almost seven seconds after she began to cross, and more than halfway across the road, Funt was fatally struck from behind by a pickup truck as it made a left-hand turn, Kellar said.

"There was nothing that Rebecca did that can even be construed as being her fault," Kellar told her family.

Rebuilding her independence
When Rebecca Funt moved to Littlestown, as recalled by her sister, Mary Fishel, Funt sought to take back a small amount of the independence that she had lost as her vision faded.

Funt had been diagnosed with a degenerative eye disease and glaucoma, which ultimately progressed to a loss of vision that left her legally blind, and led to the loss of her ability to drive.
Within the aptly-named small Adams County borough of Littlestown, Funt found a walkable community. Here, she could walk to many of the places she needed to go: the library, the grocery store, the bank, her children's school.

As a transplant originally from the other side of the Mason-Dixon Line in Hampstead, Md., Funt had quickly fostered her own community in Littlestown, and volunteered her time to support the Littlestown Area School District that her two children attended.

Remembered as a loving and devoted mother, she was known to be a consistent sight at her children's sporting events and school functions, with family recounting in her obituary that she could often be found "cheering loud enough for everyone at the event to hear."

In her free time, she served as the "dedicated and passionate" volunteer secretary of the Alloway Creek Elementary School's Parent-Teacher Organization, and took on additional responsibilities for her most beloved PTO event, the school's Holiday Shoppe.

"Rebecca lovingly oversaw the thousands of gifts that were wrapped and prepared each year, ensuring that every child experienced the magic and excitement of shopping for loved ones during the holiday season," the organization wrote in memory of Funt.

"Her care, organization and enthusiasm helped make the Holiday Shoppe a cherished memory for so many."

As Fishel recalls, during their childhood, Funt and her four siblings learned the importance of safety from the kitchen table stories of emergencies handled by her father, a volunteer firefighter and paramedic. From their mother, Fishel said, they learned the importance of speaking up − "a strongly worded letter to the correct people can, and will, make a difference."

Those lessons were recounted by Fishel as she stood in front of Littlestown's council on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, describing how Funt herself had contacted Littlestown officials to voice concerns over the very same intersection where she was killed.

More"Safety was not a foreign concept to Rebecca or my family," Fishel said, "as you can see, speaking up for ourselves is not foreign either."

In her time walking through the borough, Funt had grown concerned about Littlestown's center square, where the busy state routes of 194 and 97 intersect amid a small downtown of shops, restaurants and apartments.

The central intersection where the two routes meet splits the town into quadrants, which, depending on the time of day, can be effectively divided by rivers of traffic.

More than 13,000 vehicles per day passed through the intersection in 2024, a number that is almost three times the town's estimated population in the 2024 census of around 4,900.

With the loss in her vision, Fishel said, Funt depended on the crosswalk and crossing signals to safely guide her across the busy intersection.

Building safe systems
"This is not an easy conversation for me," said husband Travis Funt as he began to speak in the Littlestown council chambers, "but it's an important one."

The meeting, which had Funt's husband and sister on the agenda to speak during public comment, had so many listeners in attendance that it resulted in standing attendees stacked out of the door to the council chambers.

"I'm here because I don't want another family in this town to get the phone call I had to," he said.
As he spoke, Travis urged the council to implement improvements that can make pedestrians safer − even when passing drivers make mistakes or become distracted.

"Every day, I've heard people say that the problem is bad drivers or distracted drivers, and I understand that driver behavior is absolutely a part of the issue," he continued.

"They look down at their phones for a second. They take a turn too quickly. They misjudge a gap. We all know it happens."

The truth, Travis said to the officials, can be hard to say out loud.

"We can't build safe systems that depend on every driver being perfect," he said, "because they won't be. None of us are."

"When the cost of a single mistake is someone's life, we have a moral responsibility to do better than to just shrug it away and say, 'Well, people should pay more attention.'"

Instead, Travis expressed, a truly safe system should be designed to protect people − even when someone inevitably becomes distracted or makes a mistake.

With that concept, Travis shared results from various pedestrian crossing improvements that have been found to improve pedestrian safety, such as flashing beacons, improved lighting, extending the head start of pedestrians, or providing a pedestrian-only traffic phase.

"These solutions don't rely on perfect drivers, they protect people when someone is distracted or make mistakes," he stated, "that's what safety is supposed to do."

MoreIn honor of his wife, who herself had spoken up about the safety of the intersection that ultimately killed her, Travis asked the council to take a serious look at the problem of pedestrian safety.

"We can't undo what has already happened, but we can honor it and make sure it never happens again," Travis said.

"We owe it to our community to take this seriously. We owe it to the people who walk that intersection every day. We owe it to the memory of the ones we've lost."

'A horrible intersection'
As Kellar, who serves as both police chief and borough manager for Littlestown, spoke with Funt's family during the meeting, he too expressed that Littlestown's square is "a horrible intersection."
"The amount of traffic that comes through this town is unbelievable," he said.

The challenge the borough faces, from his perspective, is not monetary, but rather in obtaining the state's approval to modify a state route.

Due to being on a state route, the traffic signal must meet the certifications of, and be calibrated to, the specifications of PennDOT. Without certification of the signal, the borough would take on additional liability in traffic incidents and be unable to prove accuracy in traffic investigations or issue citations that rely on these approved measurements.

In its current state, the traffic signal turns yellow for three seconds, followed by a three second "red drop," a phase in which the traffic signals remain red as the pedestrian signal activates.

Kellar spoke with PennDOT officials, he said, who told him that "there is not an issue" with the signal, which he said meets current PennDOT standards. "I'm not saying I agree with it," he continued, "but in PennDOT standards, it's not an issue with the way that traffic light is controlled."

Along with those standards, he said, PennDOT will only approve flashing pedestrian warning lights at crosswalks that do not have a traffic signal. In addition, on the subject of turning lanes, Kellar stated that the narrow passage through the downtown area has no additional room to add turning lanes.

In the wake of Funt's death, Kellar said he has called on the assistance of the Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP), which he said will be sending a technician to Littlestown to assist them in navigating through the regulatory and technical hurdles of obtaining approval for improvements.

LTAP, he said, will also be able to assist Littlestown with conducting a traffic study on the intersection, a step required prior to improvements being approved.

A likely first step, which he said can be implemented relatively quickly for a three-month trial period, would be requesting the light to be reprogrammed to feature a four-second pedestrian lead-in phase.
In that phase, pedestrians would have four seconds to enter the crosswalk prior to traffic moving, intending to increase their visibility to drivers.

While Kellar said he was hesitant to share much information on the ongoing criminal case against the driver in Funt's death, he expressed his view that a four second lead-in would most likely not have prevented her death.

The criminal case involving Funt's death is due for a preliminary hearing in April, Kellar said, with the alleged driver, Jose Delio Reyes Lopez, 39, of Frederick, currently held in prison after being denied bail on a misdemeanor charge of recklessly endangering another person, along with summary traffic citations.

"There may be additional charges, but we brought these charges to hold him," Kellar said. "We know those charges will stick, and he'll be here for his trial."

"The reason we had to do that is because ICE also put a detainer on him. If we would not have arrested him, they would have picked him up and deported him immediately."

Using security footage, Kellar said, he timed that Funt was in the crosswalk for roughly seven seconds prior to being struck by the truck, which was making a left turn onto King Street.

"Not saying that it won't help in the future," Kellar said, "it could, but I don't think it would have helped in this case."

Still, he said, such an improvement is the fastest change that can be made concurrent with a traffic study, and can be followed by other improvements after the study is analyzed.

In his view, Kellar said, the traffic signal improvement most likely to have prevented the circumstances of Funt's death would be a phase where the signals in all directions hold as red while pedestrians are allowed to cross.

"I think the only thing that'll fix this, and it's going to be a fight, is if we have an all-four red stop."
"I think it’s a fantastic idea," Fishel responded.

Despite the "all-four red stop" phase appearing to be an effective solution for Littlestown's crossing, Kellar expressed that traffic experts have told him that the phase is rarely approved for signals on state roads in Pennsylvania.

"I was told, don't hold my breath," he recounted, having been advised that approvals are rarely granted for projects that stop the flow of traffic in all directions along state routes.

Those designs, he was told, often result in "more complaints" from drivers, a consideration he voiced objection to.

"To me, a life is more important than a five-minute backup," he said, adding later, "I don't care that they have to wait an extra five minutes to get through an intersection."

Amid the discussions, Kellar had noted that the town logged 19 reportable traffic collisions in the Littlestown square in 60 months.

Because of that, with an average that falls just under once every three months, he said he was unsure how the results of the required study would be measured in terms of safety if no collisions happen in the study's three months.

"My question was, well, if you don't have anything happen, how do you quantify that?"

Just 36 hours after the 6:30 p.m. Tuesday meeting, according to Littlestown police, another pedestrian was struck by a vehicle crossing the intersection around 7:12 a.m. on Thursday morning, March 12, 2026. The injuries, as reported to the county, did not appear to be life threatening.

In a release, Littlestown police shared that in the March 12 incident, both the pedestrian and the driver involved had been cited as being at fault as a result of their investigation.

According to their release, in that incident , the unidentified pedestrian injured in the incident allegedly "failed to activate the crosswalk button" and entered the roadway under a "don't walk" signal, while the driver was alleged to have failed to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

With another pedestrian struck so soon after the Tuesday meeting, social media circles in Littlestown soon filled with hundreds of comments as the community predominantly voiced the need for improvements to occur as quickly as possible.

'Everything we can'
After hearing from Funt's loved ones, council members pledged to her family that they would continue to work on seeing improvements come to the troubled intersection.

"I think we need to pursue everything we can," said council President Craig Rosendale as he spoke with the family.

"We may talk to state legislators for this area, and we may want to get the two of you to get involved with some of those discussions," he said to Travis and Fishel, who both indicated they were willing to assist in continued advocacy for the improvements.

"We will continue to work on this, and ask for your continued help in any way we can make a good use of that."

"I know that this wasn't easy for you to be here tonight," Rosendale said, "but I appreciate it very much."

As the meeting moved towards the next item on the agenda, council member Brent Sheely took a moment to recognize the large crowd gathered at the meeting to support Funt's family.

"I want you to take a look around at what this town is really about," he said.

"We don't always get along, we don't always agree, but when something like this happens, this town pulls together."

PORTLAND, Ore. — A Mexican man who was charged in a crash that killed an Oregon sheriff’s deputy in 2007 and then mistakenly released 10 months ago has been arrested again, authorities said.

Oregon State Police said in a statement Sunday that it learned Alfredo de Jesus-Ascencio, 29, had been caught in Mexico.

A grand jury had indicted him on charges of criminally negligent homicide more than a decade ago after a head-on collision that killed his 19-year-old passenger and Marion County Deputy Kelly Fredinburg.

De Jesus-Ascencio was critically injured but out of the hospital by the time a judge issued a warrant for his arrest.

He fled to Mexico and wasn’t caught until January 2017. He was mistakenly let go a month later due to an administrative error at the prison in Baja California.

Oregon State Police said de Jesus-Ascencio was arrested Thursday in Michoacan, a western Mexican state.

Oregon prosecutors in 2010 sought to have Mexican authorities prosecute him in their country because it was unlikely he would be extradited to the U.S.

Fredinburg, 33, was heading to an emergency call June 16, 2007, when his patrol car was struck by a Ford Crown Victoria that was traveling in the opposite direction and crossed the center line. The patrol car caught fire, and Fredinburg became the first Marion County deputy to die in the line of duty.

De Jesus-Ascencio’s passenger — a cousin — died from his injuries at a hospital.

Oregon State Police and the Marion County District Attorney’s Office worked jointly to find de Jesus-Ascencio with the FBI, U.S. Embassy, Interpol and the Mexican Attorney General’s Office.

A deadly fire that erupted in a Phoenix mobile home last Sunday has led to manslaughter charges being brought against 22-year-old Joel Hernandez Anaya. The incident, which occurred near 24th Street and Union Hills Drive around 9:45 a.m., claimed the lives of Sergio Rosales Zavala, 32, and David Hernandez Estrada, 38. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, after processing the scene and conducting interviews, Phoenix police arrested Anaya. He reportedly made incriminating statements during his post-Miranda interview and faces two counts each of Reckless Manslaughter and attempted Manslaughter.

An additional account given by a neighbor described attempts to save the victims, as he saw men trying to cut through the home's wall from outside, with Anaya and two others managing to escape the flames. "There are no words to describe what happened here, truly. When you live through it and see it with your own eyes, you can't really describe what happened in the moment," the neighbor told AZFamily. Early on the day of the fire, Anaya, returning to the home after purchasing drugs and cigarettes, tried to eradicate a foul odor from his clothing with gasoline, which led to tragedy later as the windows turned black and a fire ensued.

During his court appearance, it was revealed by a prosecutor that, "Mr. Hernandez admitted that he poured gasoline on a pile of clothes inside the trailer that created the fire that led to the two victims' deaths." Given the loss of life, the court reflects a serious attitude towards this case, with concerns raised over Anaya being a danger to the community and a potential flight risk. A substantial cash bond of $500,000 has been set for Anaya, who is an undocumented Mexican national. There are fears he may attempt to escape to Mexico, as insinuated by the prosecutor during the court proceeding and reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.


According to filings as mentioned in a AZFamily report, Anaya admitted in a police interview to the heavy use of cocaine and methamphetamine. "Impaired his judgement and caused him to act negligently," he claimed, explaining that he did not consider the risk of igniting a fire when he doused his clothes with gasoline. Despite Anaya's insistence that the resulting fire was accidental, he confessed that he couldn't remember all the details due to his drug use at the time.

The gunman was 25-year-old Venezuelan illegal alien Jose Medina-Medina, who crossed under Biden in 2023, was caught and released at the border, then released AGAIN by Chicago cops after a prior shoplifting bust, thanks to sanctuary policies that protect criminals over cops and citizens.

Medina now faces first-degree murder charges. But get this: He didn’t even bother showing up to his first court hearing this week. He was too busy getting taxpayer-funded treatment for tuberculosis at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) did not say whether or not an illegal immigrant charged with murdering Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman should be deported if convicted.

During an exchange with Fox News congressional correspondent Bill Melugin on Capitol Hill, Jeffries was asked, “An illegal immigrant has been charged with murdering a college student in Chicago last week. Do House Democrats believe if he’s convicted, he’s someone who should be deported?”

The question referred to the killing of 18-year-old Sheridan Gorman, a Loyola University Chicago freshman who was fatally shot on March 19 near Tobey Prinz Beach in the Rogers Park neighborhood.

Prosecutors allege that 25-year-old Jose Medina-Medina, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, chased Gorman and her friends on a pier and opened fire as they attempted to flee, striking Gorman as she ran away.

Authorities say Medina-Medina was apprehended at the southern border on May 9, 2023, and released into the United States under former President Joe Biden’s catch-and-release policies. About a month later, he was arrested in Chicago for shoplifting but released without being transferred to federal immigration authorities due to local sanctuary policies. He now faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, and remains in custody.

Democrat officials at the local, state, and national levels weighed in on the killing.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) criticized the federal government, saying, “The Trump administration needs to stop politicizing heinous tragedies and instead focus on real solutions, like reinstating federal funds to prevent violence that support our public safety efforts.”

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) defended the city’s longstanding sanctuary policies, stating, “The Welcoming City ordinance was passed 40 years ago by the first Black mayor in the history of Chicago,” while also arguing, “If there is anything to address in this country that’s illegal, it’s everything about the Trump administration.”

Chicago Alderwoman Maria Hadden suggested the encounter may not have been intentional, saying it “might have been a wrong place, wrong time” situation and that the group “might have startled this person at the end of the pier.”

Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich joined Laura Ingraham on Fox News to discuss the tragic and preventable murder of 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman.

Early in the morning on Thursday of last week, 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman was shot and killed near the Chicago campus by one of Joe Biden’s illegals.

The masked gunman approached a group of students walking in the Rogers Park neighborhood and opened fire, shooting Gorman in the head. She died at the scene.

On Sunday, it was confirmed that the masked gunman who killed Gorman is a 25-year-old illegal alien from Venezuela who entered the US under the Biden Regime. Police took Jose Medina-Medina into custody.

In its coverage of the tragedy, Loyola’s campus newspaper, The Phoenix, has caved to the woke mob by changing wording in the coverage of the murder of one of its own to placate the left’s agenda.

While originally referring to Medina as an illegal immigrant, they edited the post to frame him as a “Rogers Park Resident.”

The College Fix reports:

Campus newspaper The Phoenix originally reported on the charges with an Instagram post titled: “Immigrant Man Charged in Murder of Sheridan Gorman, DHS Involved.”

The original post also referred to Medina as an “illegal immigrant.”

However, facing backlash, the student newspaper edited the post to remove the term “illegal immigrant.” The newspaper refers to Medina as a “Rogers Park Resident,” referring to the Chicago neighborhood where Loyola’s main campus is located.

An editor’s note was added to the original story, which spent almost as much time bemoaning the “harm” of calling the alleged murderer what he is than spent on the tragic death of a young woman just beginning her life.

Editor’s Note:

On March 23, a post on The Phoenix’s Instagram page carried the following headline: “Immigrant Man Charged in Murder of Sheridan Gorman, DHS Involved.”

That headline didn’t reflect the most important elements in the story, and it was taken down minutes later to prevent any further harm to affected community members.

Additionally, in the body of the original post, we described the man who was charged as an “illegal immigrant,” using language provided by the Department of Homeland Security. That language does not align with Associated Press style, nor does it align with the values of this newspaper.

No human’s existence is illegal, and we quickly changed our wording to reflect that.

We acknowledge the harm such language can cause and the power and importance of the words we choose to use. We deeply regret these errors, and we’re committed to continuing the high standards we hold for ourselves as journalists and members of the Loyola, Rogers Park and Chicago communities.

BEAVER DAM, Wis. —A man in the country illegally is under arrest in Dodge County for allegedly driving drunk and causing a deadly two-car crash.

"It really is a tragedy and has upended the lives of a lot of people and a lot of family members," Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt said.

The Dodge County Sheriff's Office says a family of five was also injured in the crash at the intersection of County Road A and County Road B in Beaver Dam on Sunday, Jan. 26.

Authorities say the suspect, 32-year-old Hector Jared Toscano Perez, who was previously deported in 2019, was driving under the influence and did not have a valid driver's license at the time of the crash.

"All of those factors combined make this an incident that never should have happened," Schmidt said.

Schmidt said Toscano Perez, who is from Tennessee but was in Wisconsin for work, took a company truck without permission and drove while intoxicated.

The pick-up truck belongs to South State Contractors, Inc., a Tennessee company. The company did not respond to WISN 12 News requests for comment.

Investigators say he failed to stop at a stop sign and did not attempt to slow down before colliding with a Cadillac Escalade.

The impact killed his passenger, 30-year-old Matias Roblero Emanuel and left five others injured.

The occupants of the other vehicle included Adam Mead, 35, and Sheila Mead, 39, of Fox Lake, along with their three children, ages 7, 11, and 13.

The children suffered minor injuries. Adam and Sheila sustained significant injuries requiring emergency air transport to a trauma center.

"We've got three kids who are younger kids just saw their their parents removed from a vehicle from a serious crash," Schmidt said.

Adam told WISN 12 News reporter Kendall Keys over the phone Friday that they are home from the hospital and have a long road to recovery ahead of them.

Authorities say Toscano Perez is facing multiple charges, including:

  • Homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle
  • Operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent
  • Operating without a valid driver's license resulting in death
  • Three counts of injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle
  • Failure to yield right of way resulting in death


Toscano Perez was hospitalized with serious injuries and booked into jail Friday afternoon.

Additionally, Schmidt said Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a detainer on him, and officials plan to work with ICE for his second deportation at the appropriate time.

Authorities also revealed that Toscano Perez and the deceased victim were in the area working for South State Contractors, Inc.

The sheriff said a news release that company supervisors admitted to knowing their employees were not legal residents and this information has been provided to ICE for further investigation.

Sheriff Schmidt addressed the incident, expressing frustration over federal immigration enforcement.

"This is an incident that never should have occurred," he said. "Individuals in our country continue to blatantly violate federal immigration laws, and the federal government has failed to protect our citizens. I look forward to the new administration taking this significant risk to public safety seriously."

The name of the suspected driver has been corrected with information from Wisconsin court records.

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces the Honorable Jonathan Sacks sentenced Diego Hernandez Martinez to 25 years in Florida State Prison for two counts of DUI Manslaughter followed by two and a half years of probation and a permanent driver’s license suspension.
Hernandez Martinez previously pleaded guilty on July 9, 2025, for driving under the influence and causing the crash that killed 25-year-olds Gabe DiSpirito and Joe Royce.

On Oct. 3, 2024, officers responded to a fatal crash on Beach Boulevard and Washburn Road.
Hernandez Martinez was driving a pickup truck eastbound on Beach Boulevard approaching Washburn Road when he made a left turn into DiSpirito and Royce, who were riding motorcycles westbound on Beach Boulevard. Hernandez Martinez crashed into the motorcyclists, killing DiSpirito on scene. First responders attempted lifesaving measures on Royce; he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Florida Highway Patrol arrived on scene to assist the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office with the investigation. An FHP trooper saw Hernandez Martinez had bloodshot and watery eyes and a flushed face. First responders transported him to the hospital for his injuries; the trooper could smell alcohol on Hernandez Martinez at the hospital. Hernandez Martinez’s toxicology results showed a 0.22 blood alcohol level, nearly three times the legal limit.

Hernandez Martinez did not have a driver’s license and was on two active suspensions from a previous DUI and failure to complete basic driver improvement school. Hernandez Martinez is not a legal United States citizen and currently has an ICE hold.

The case was investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney John Kalinowski.

An illegal immigrant was sentenced last Wednesday to life in prison after pleading guilty to murdering a woman in West Virginia. The woman’s body was found burned under a couch on the side of the road last May.

According to The Post Millennial, David Calderon, a 47-year-old illegal immigrant from El Salvador, was sentenced on Wednesday in the Jefferson County Circuit Court after pleading guilty to the murder of 32-year-old Samantha Dailey as part of an Alford plea, which allows the illegal immigrant to maintain his innocence.

The Post Millennial reported that Dailey’s body was found significantly burned and hidden under a couch. The outlet noted that while Calderon was sentenced to life in prison and will not be eligible for parole for at least 19 years, the illegal immigrant’s sentence gives him the possibility of parole after 15 years.

According to Metro News, during Wednesday’s sentencing, Joshua Dailey, Samantha Dailey’s uncle, criticized law enforcement and immigration officials for allowing Calderon to remain free in the United States after being denied entrance by Canada.

“We are calling on Governor Pritzker and Chicago’s sanctuary politicians to commit to not releasing this criminal illegal alien from jail back into American neighborhoods,” the DHS said.

Pritzker blamed President Trump following the murder of Sheridan Gorman.

“I agree there have been real failures. Those failures, of course, extend beyond the borders of Illinois.

They are national failures,” Pritzker said blaming Trump.

“A failure to have comprehensive immigration reform. A failure of the president to follow his own edict to go after the worst of the worst,” he said.

Laura Ingraham: Governor, I’ve run along the lakefront. It’s beautiful. It’s a lot of families, people out there. But a source was telling Fox that this illegal was wearing a mask at 1:30 in the morning, armed.

He wasn’t looking for a party. He was looking for a killing.

Rod Blagojevich: Look, it’s a heart-wrenching story, and it’s heartbreaking. I’m a father of two daughters. My two young daughters have walked that very beach that that young girl, Sheridan Gorman, walked, where she died.

And, you know, Pritzker puts out a statement through a spokesperson. He doesn’t say anything himself. And he waits four days.

And the only reason they’re even saying anything is because he’s starting to feel the heat. People have noticed that the governor has been silent on this, when he’s always talking about how bad ICE is and all these other things that he opposes, that really are about enforcing the law.

But he’s out there, and he’s cowardly, and he’s doing what he’s doing behind the scenes through a third party. And what he is is a reflection of what today’s Democratic Party is.

And who are these Democrats?

They’re for open borders. They’re for sanctuary cities. They’re for defund the police. They’re for no cash bail. And all they do is endlessly attack law enforcement and ICE agents. And it leads to the sort of thing that just happened to this young girl. And I think about this young girl, again, as a father myself of two daughters. I think about her just beginning her young adulthood, beautiful young girl, a daughter, a sister. Probably went away for the first time in her life to college, making her parents proud, and this happens to her.

And it could have easily been avoided if Governor Pritzker and Mayor Johnson did one simple thing: do their jobs. Enforce the law, do their jobs to protect the people.

Laura Ingraham: Rod, you know what I was thinking? All the times we heard Brandon Johnson and Pritzker run to the cameras anytime someone is jostled outside of an ICE facility, or any— right? I mean, jostled, and they’re running to the cameras. ‘Oh, this is an outrage.’

We have a girl dead, and they’re issuing statements through spokespeople generally.

Rod Blagojevich: Yeah, that’s right. And Pritzker’s doing this. He’s— because of his political ambitions, he’s putting together a commission to study the wrongs of ICE agents if and when the Democrats win election, so he can prosecute officers of the law, not illegal immigrants who are criminals.

Laura Ingraham: One of your, one of your friends, I’m sure, and it’s an older woman, will play the soundbite, uh, had a comment about this. Chicago lawmaker, um, how reacted to Sheridan’s murder.

Ingraham then played a video of Maria Hadden, a Democrat alderwoman, where she asserts Gorman may have just ‘been in the wrong place at the wrong time’ and that she and her friends might have startled the shooter.

Maria Hadden: The kids were out doing normal, normal things people do in the neighborhood, and it sounds like this might have been a wrong place, wrong time, running into a person who had a gun.

They might have startled this person at the end of the pier. We don’t believe there is cause for broader community concern.

Laura Ingraham: 15 seconds, Governor.

Rod Blagojevich: Chicago and Illinois are the wrong place in the wrong time because we got the wrong people leading our state and our city.

Illegal alien charged in deadly Troy hit-and-run that killed Annie Laura Cooper

TROY, AL — A hit-and-run tragedy has rocked my small hometown, the city of Troy, leaving a woman everybody knew gone far too soon — and this one hits especially close to home.

An illegal alien from Mississippi, is now behind bars after Troy Police say he struck and killed 59-year-old Annie Laura Cooper, then fled the scene, leaving her in the roadway.



Annie Laura Cooper, 59, of Troy, Alabama, was killed in a tragic hit-and-run. Friends say she was well known and loved throughout the community.Police were called to the 100 block of U.S. 231 South on Sunday, December 21, after reports of a woman being hit by a vehicle. When officers arrived, they found Cooper lying in the road with injuries consistent with a vehicle impact. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The case was immediately turned over to the Troy Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit, launching an investigation that would stretch across state lines.

“Everybody Knew Ms. Annie”
For me, this story brings me to tears.

I personally knew Ms. Annie Laura Cooper. Growing up in Troy, I’d see her all the time — always walking, always moving, always full of life. She used to come to my mom parties when we lived in Trojan Way and have a good time, with a spirit you couldn’t ignore. When I say everybody knew her, I mean everybody knew her. She was a familiar face, and will be greatly missed.

Her death has left a hole in Troy that can’t be filled.

Suspect Tracked to Mississippi
According to police, their investigation led them to Lucedale, Mississippi, where officers executed a search warrant at a home and located the vehicle believed to be involved in the deadly crash. Authorities also identified the suspected driver.

An arrest warrant was issued for Malvin Geovany Villalbos-Bonilla, 45, of Lucedale. He is charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident involving death.

Villalbos-Bonilla was taken back to Troy, booked into the Troy City Jail, and later transferred to the Pike County Jail, where he remains held on a $250,000 bond.

In a press release, Troy Police revealed that during the investigation it was determined Villalbos-Bonilla is from Honduras and is believed to be in the United States illegally, noting he has been previously deported.

Authorities confirmed that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been notified.

“During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Villalbos-Bonilla is from Honduras and is believed to be in the country illegally, for which he has been deported previously,” Troy Police Chief Danny Barron said. “The Troy Police Department notified Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to make them aware of the charge filed against Villalbos-Bonilla and allow them to place a detainer on him.”

Troy Police thanked the Lucedale Police Department and the Pike County District Attorney’s Office for their assistance. The investigation remains ongoing as the community continues to grieve.

One thing is clear — Ms. Annie was loved, and Troy will not forget her.

A truck driver from El Salvador who was driving on a suspended license is jailed without bond this (Thursday) morning, charged with three felonies for Monday’s horrific deadly head-on collision between a tractor trailer and a U-haul on I-70.

Boone County prosecutors have charged 26-year-old Walter Montejo with two felony counts of involuntary manslaughter and with felony second degree assault. He’s also charged with a misdemeanor count of driving while revoked.

A court filing from Boone County prosecutors says Montejo is in the United States “temporarily on a work visa.”

That two-page court filing describes Montejo as a flight risk, saying he has no known ties to Boone County.

CPD investigators say the two victims who died were in the U-haul rental truck. Columbia Police say the U-haul driver, 54-year-old Cindy Helms of Tennessee, was pronounced dead at a local hospital. CPD identifies the U-haul passenger as 84-year-old Melvina Colin of Colorado, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Columbia Police Department’s two-page probable cause statement quotes witnesses driving behind the tractor trailer and a BMW before the crash as saying the Freightliner was in the passing lane and that the BMW was in the driving lane. Court documents quote drivers behind the crash as saying that the tractor trailer “entered the driving lane and struck the BMW” and that the Freightliner was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash. Once they collided, the Freightliner crossed the median and struck several vehicles, including the U-haul, according to court documents.

Monday’s crash closed much of I-70 near the Business Loop exit for hours. CPD describes its investigation as ongoing: they encourage anyone with information about the crash to call Columbia Crimestoppers at (573) 875-TIPS.

WASHINGTON (7News) — A Guatemalan man was arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after he was charged in connection with the death of his brother in Prince George's County, Maryland.

On Aug. 16, Prince George's County Police Department (PGPD) officials arrived at the 500 block of Shady Glen Drive at 11:30 p.m. to investigate reports of a physical fight.

According to a preliminary investigation, 32-year-old Rene Pop-Chub pushed his brother, 45-year-old Crisantos Pop-Chub, to the ground during an argument. Cristantos hit his head during the fall and died.
Pop-Chub was charged with murder, second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment, officials said.

After two U.S. Border Patrol arrests in Falfurrias, Texas, in 2013 and Cowlic, Arizona, in 2017, Pop-Chub reentered the United States for a third time on an unknown date, according to ICE officials.

PGPD officials arrested Pop-Chub following the fight on Aug. 19, 2024.

ICE Baltimore lodged an immigration detainer with the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections (PGCDC) on Oct. 9, 2024, officials said. The agency added that PGCDC declined to honor ICE’s immigration detainer and released Pop-Chub from custody on April 8.

According to court documents, Pop-Chub's next court date was scheduled for April 16 to decide whether or not he would be detained before a bail hearing.

ICE Baltimore arrested Pop-Chub in Hyattsville, April 12, and issued him a notice of intent to reinstate a prior order of removal. Pop-Chub has been transferred to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.

Acting County Executive Tara H. Jackson released the following statement:
"We want to be clear: we called ICE upon Mr. Pop-Chub's release because he had a prior conviction for involuntary manslaughter. Contrary to any suggestion that ICE was denied access — an ICE agent was on-site the day of Mr. Pop-Chub’s release and did communicate with PGCDOC staff.

"Specifically:

  • The ICE agent spoke directly with PGCDOC Release Team.
  • The release Team advised ICE that agents are allowed to enter the reception area (lobby) of the facility.
  • The ICE agent was advised that he could retrieve Mr. Pop-Chub from the PGCDOC Reception area upon his release, as ICE agents have done in the past.
  • The ICE agent left prior to Mr. Pop-Chub release.

"Prince George’s County remains committed to working with our federal partners within the bounds of the law and in a manner that protects the constitutional rights of all individuals in our custody."

In November 2019, Prince George’s County Council voted unanimously to bar all county agencies from working with ICE unless individuals in question were faced with criminal warrants.

In July of the same year, Prince George's County Department of Police officially codified its policy of only working with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement if an individual is wanted on a criminal immigration warrant or in connection with certain suspected crimes, and not for any civil removal proceedings.

This decision came after then-Police Chief Hank Stawinski told The Washington Post that officers were alerting federal agencies about an individual's immigration status after they were stopped for non-criminal matters. One example the Post cites was an undocumented woman who was placed in deportation proceedings after she was rear-ended in Hyattsville in 2019.

The White House Office of Communications released the following statement on the case:

"So-called “sanctuary” jurisdictions endanger the lives of the Americans who live there.

"The latest example comes in Prince George’s County, Maryland, where an illegal immigrant was arrested, charged with murder and assault, then released back onto the streets despite an ICE immigration detainer request — a result of the county’s insane “sanctuary” policies.

"Fortunately, ICE eventually arrested the illegal immigrant and he’ll soon be on his way back to Guatemala.
"The negligence of leftist politicians is putting lives at risk.


  • In 2019, then-Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks — now a U.S. Senator — bragged about “not participating in immigration enforcement” and claimed in 2024 that immigration enforcement “should not be the responsibility of local governments.”

  • In 2019, then-Prince George’s County Council Member Deni Taveras — now a member of the Maryland House of Delegates — said “there is an incredible amount of fear” about immigration enforcement.

  • Acting Prince George’s County Executive Tara Jackson said: “The Prince George’s County Police Department does not engage in federal immigration enforcement actions Our focus is on ensuring public safety and building trust with all members of our community, regardless of their immigration status.”

  • Maryland State Del. Nicole Williams (D-Prince George’s) introduced a bill to ban local law enforcement agencies from cooperating with ICE: “People would not feel safe in terms of reporting actual crime that is taking place within their communities.”

  • Maryland State Sen. Alonzo Washington (D-Prince George’s) said local law enforcement should not be enforcing immigration laws: “We’re going to build a better relationship with our immigrant community so we know exactly who they are and we can protect them.”"

(KRON) — A man who is charged with murdering six people in Napa County was previously deported to Mexico several times by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, according to ICE.

Norberto Celerino, 53, of Stockton, is now facing six counts of murder in connection to a horrific September 7 crash. Prosecutors said Celerino was drunk behind the wheel of a minivan when he crashed into a tree on Pope Valley Road in Napa County.

Six of his seven passengers died at the scene, California Highway Patrol officers said. All eight men in the van were farmworkers from Stockton who were on their way to work, family members said.

The Napa County Coroner’s Office worked with the Mexican Consulate in San Francisco to identify the six victims and notify their families.

Prosecutors said Celerino goes by several names, including Beto Celerino-Bialva, Roberto Salvaringo-Diabla, Grabien Martinez, and Norberto Celerino. The CHP said the driver also goes by the name Norberto Celerino-Novillava. He has a prior DUI conviction in San Joaquin County.

Federal authorities identified Celerino as Beto Cerillo-Bialva, and said he is 49 years old.

An ICE spokesperson told KRON4 on Tuesday, “Beto Cerillo-Bialva … is a criminal alien from Mexico who first entered the United States in 1995. Since his first illegal entry, he has been arrested several times for possession of cocaine, multiple DUIs, and removed multiple times from the United States.”

After each of his deportations, he unlawfully re-entered the United States and returned to California, federal authorities said.

A coroner identified the six victims killed in the Napa County crash as: Fernando Silverio, 34, Loreto Ricardo Hernandez, 42, Araon Ruiz, 39, Beymar Reynosa Rodriguez, 32, Demetrio Celerino Francisco, 39, and Pedro Lopez Gomez, 57.



The ICE spokesperson said the driver’s “continued disregard for the laws within the United States, and California’s sanctuary laws, has led to this tragic incident. Sanctuary laws continue to place the American public in danger and only protect the criminal aliens.”

The Department of Homeland Security published lists in May of sanctuary jurisdictions, including cities, counties, and states, that are “deliberately obstructing the enforcement of federal immigration laws and endangering American citizens,” according to DHS.

California was included on the list of sanctuary states. DHS said the lists helps to expose “lawless jurisdictions to the public.”

The family of Sheridan Gorman, the 18-year-old Loyola University Chicago freshman gunned down near the campus by an illegal alien, unleashed a blistering condemnation of anyone suggesting she somehow contributed to her own killing by being in the "wrong place at the wrong time."

The damning response comes as Chicago Alderwoman Maria Hadden suggested Gorman and her friends may have unintentionally startled the armed suspect.

"The kids were out doing normal things people do in the neighborhood," Hadden told Fox 32. "They may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, running into a person who had a gun."

"They might have unintentionally startled this person at the end of the pier," she added. "We don’t believe there is cause for broader community concern."

The suspect in this case is Jose Medina-Medina, a 25-year-old Venezuelan national who entered the U.S. illegally.

Absolutely infuriating. They simply ran into an armed individual minding his own business? Right. He shouldn't be minding any business in any area of this country — period. Are you wondering at all how an illegal alien is just hanging at the end of a pier with a weapon, Ms. Hadden? Are you even aware that it is a crime for any illegal alien to possess a firearm in the United States?

The community definitely needs to be concerned. Especially if they're represented by people like this.
The Gorman family rejected any implication that Sheridan bore responsibility for the violent act allegedly committed by the illegal alien, who now faces first-degree murder charges.

They're angry. Justifiably so.

“What Sheridan was doing that night—walking with friends near her campus—was normal. It was safe.

It is what students do every day. We will not allow this to be dismissed as ‘wrong place, wrong time.’

This was not random misfortune," they fired back in a statement. "This was a violent and preventable act.”

Not only are they thoroughly disgusted with the assertion from the alderwoman, but they also hammered Democrat policies that coddle illegals and allow repeat criminal offenders to continually walk the same streets as innocent, law-abiding Americans.

“We are gravely disappointed by the policies and failures that allowed this individual to remain in a position to commit this crime," Gorman's family states. "When systems fail—whether through release decisions, lack of coordination, or unwillingness to act—the consequences are not abstract. They are real. And in our case, they are permanent."

Medina-Medina allegedly approached the group masked and armed, firing as Gorman and her friends tried to flee. To nobody's surprise, he was reportedly released multiple times under President Biden.

Medina-Medina, according to DHS, was apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol on May 9, 2023, and released into the country under the Biden administration's policies; he was later released again on June 19, 2023, following a shoplifting arrest in Chicago under local sanctuary policies.

He is now charged in this case with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, multiple counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon. When are the lawmakers who create the infrastructure allowing illegal aliens to commit heinous crimes against Americans going to be charged?

Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman murdered by Venezuelan illegal alien Jose Medina-Medina

Another innocent young American woman has been murdered by one of Joe Biden’s illegal aliens.

Very early Thursday morning, 18-year-old Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman was shot and killed near campus in Chicago.

A masked gunman approached a group of students walking in Rogers Park and opened fire.

Gorman was shot in the head and died at the scene.

On Sunday it was confirmed that the masked gunman who killed Gorman is a 25-year-old illegal alien from Venezuela who entered the US under the Biden Regime.

Police took Jose Medina-Medina into custody.

Per Fox News reporter Bill Melugin: DHS confirms that the suspect in custody for murdering Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman in Chicago is a Venezuelan illegal alien who was caught & released at the border by the Biden administration in May 2023. DHS says he was also released from local custody after a shoplifting arrest in the sanctuary city of Chicago on June 19, 2023.

The Department of Homeland Security blasted the Biden Regime.

“Sheridan Gorman had her whole life ahead of her before this cold-blooded killer decided to end her life. She was failed by open border policies and sanctuary politicians who RELEASED this illegal alien TWICE before he went on to commit this heinous murder,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis.

“We are calling on Governor Pritzker and Chicago’s sanctuary politicians to commit to not releasing this criminal illegal alien from jail back into American neighborhoods,” the DHS said.

She made people feel seen, safe, and loved simply by being who she was. She lived her faith with kindness, compassion, and joy, and she loved her family and friends deeply.

We trusted that she would be safe. That trust was broken. Someone made a deliberate choice that stole our daughter and forever changed our family. We are demanding answers, and we will not stop until the person responsible is identified and brought to justice.

We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from the various communities connected to our family. It has carried us through moments we could not endure alone. We take comfort in our faith, but nothing can lessen the devastation of this loss.
