A chilling tattoo of a human heart clutched by clawed hands may have helped federal prosecutors tie an alleged MS-13 gangster to one of Los Angeles� most gruesome killings, a court has heard.Prosecutors claim Angel Guzman helped butcher a man while deep inside the Angeles National Forest in 2017 � stabbing him more than 100 times, carving out his heart with a machete, and dumping his body into a canyon, the LA Times reported.
Now, Guzman and three other alleged members of the notorious MS-13 Fulton gang are facing federal charges tied to a bloody string of murders that cops say turned the LA County mountains into execution grounds.

Assistant US Attorney Suria Bahadue told jurors the violence stemmed from a dramatic shift inside the gang beginning around 2015, when local leaders allegedly adopted stricter �Salvadoran rules� requiring recruits to kill in order to earn full membership.
�There was a shift in the way MS-13 operated in this city,� Bahadue said. �That shift resulted in extreme violence.�

The first victim in the case was Juan Jose Sibrian, who was allegedly targeted because gang members believed he had defaced MS-13 graffiti and violated gang rules through methamphetamine use, according to prosecutors.

On March 6, 2017, gang members allegedly lured Sibrian from Whitsett Park in North Hollywood before choking him unconscious and driving him into the remote forest.
Authorities say the group stopped to buy rubber gloves and alcohol before carrying out the savage attack in an isolated canyon area without cellphone service or witnesses.

Prosecutors allege Guzman and several others repeatedly hacked and stabbed Sibrian with knives and machetes, inflicting 107 stab wounds before his heart was removed from his chest.
�Snoopy was surprised at the level of violence that his foot soldiers had reached, and he promoted them,� Bahadue told jurors, referring to alleged Fulton clique leader Edgar Velasquez by his nickname.
Defense attorneys blasted the government�s case as unreliable, arguing prosecutors lack physical evidence directly tying their clients to the murders.

�Their entire case is built on murderer�s row � a bunch of liars just trying to get out of jail,� Guzman�s attorney James Tedford said.
Federal prosecutors say the killings continued for months.
Another alleged victim, identified only as G.B., was hacked to death with a machete after gang members suspected him of cooperating with law enforcement.

A third victim, Elvin Hernandez, was allegedly murdered for falsely claiming ties to MS-13. A cooperating witness testified gang members attempted to decapitate him before throwing his body into a canyon.
�We all started taking turns,� the witness testified.
Authorities say the violent killings reflected an escalating effort by the gang to enforce loyalty through terror. Prosecutors claim one defendant later bragged behind bars about the murders.
�Yeah, I killed him, motherf�ker. I�m going to throw �MS� at them like this,� alleged gang member Jose Jonathan Castillo reportedly said.
�And if you let me go, I�ll kill again.�

The plan also includes eight large-scale detention centers capable of holding 7,000 to 10,000 people each. These larger sites would serve as the primary locations for deportations, with detainees held there for about 60 days before being removed from the country.

New Hampshire facility details

The Portland City Council approved an ordinance Wednesday to ban masks and require clear identification for federal agents and other law enforcement officers, despite repeated warnings by top officials who said it is likely to be ruled unconstitutional.
Those who sounded the alarm included Portland Mayor Keith Wilson, Portland Councilor Steve Novick, who is an attorney, City Attorney Robert Taylor, and Portland Police Chief Bob Day, who this week became the latest to voice his concerns and disappointment over the plan in a memo he sent to city leaders.
Officials had stressed the proposal is likely to face the same fate as similar legislation in California. The 9^th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in April found thatstates lack theauthority to impose such rules on federal agents and blocked the Californialegislation as unconstitutional.
However, thewarnings from officials didn�t persuade most Portland city councilors.

Kanal warned that the ordinance will not stop federal agents from wearing masks because local jurisdictions can�t compel them to remove them. Under the ordinance, Portland police will identify and verify the legitimacy of law enforcement officers and their actions in the city by asking them for identification and requesting that those with masks remove them to verify that their identification �matches a face free of any covering.�
Police officers would also verify that agents have judicial warrants for their activities within the city, and that their vehicles are appropriately marked. They may detain a person if �reasonable suspicion exists� that the person has committed or is about to commit a crime when there�s no proof of law enforcement authority.

And then the cops have to write big reports. Almost no Portland cop will actually do this, unless they have a real concern that the person(s) are fake cops, because, apparently, Portland has a big problem with fake cops and the Portland PD is good at identifying them. And any Portland cop would be opening a can of problems if they even tried.
But, um, will Portland also ban masks for the large amount of Antifa and other left wing wackos? Of course not.

�These are tools that we�re passing today. They don�t end the terror that the Trump administration has brought forward, but they give us tools in the fight,� she said. �Portland has never been a city that sits back and waits for others to act.�
Those tools, she said, will make sure that the city and its partners can fight against the �encroaching authoritarianism and overreach (of) federal law enforcement that we know we all want to push back against.�

He also noted that forcing Florida back to its 2022 map on a rushed record would be improper, particularly with primaries less than three months away and election officials already deep into preparation.
DeSantis says the significant shift in voter registration in recent years is proof that the update was necessary to better reflect the state.
"Florida got shortchanged in the 2020 Census, and we�ve been fighting for fair representation ever since," DeSantis explained to Fox News Digital last month. "Our population has since grown dramatically, and we have moved from a Democrat majority to a 1.5 million Republican advantage. Drawing maps based on race, which is reflected in our current congressional districts, is unconstitutional and should be prohibited."
DeSantis added, "Our new map for 2026 makes good on my promise to conduct mid-decade redistricting, and it more fairly represents the makeup of Florida today.�
The outlook for the Democrats does not look good.
All three lawsuits have been consolidated before Judge Hawkes, and the fight is likely to end at the Florida Supreme Court. There are seven justices on the court, six of whom DeSantis appointed. Despite the odds working against them, the plaintiffs have already filed notices of appeal and signaled they will proceed to trial.
However, even if they somehow managed to succeed, it will likely be too late to change the maps for the upcoming midterm elections in November. Hawkes himself acknowledged in his ruling that the challenge "is more geared toward the 2028 or 2030 election cycles than the 2026 election cycle."
DeSantis' map looks almost certain to hold for the 2026 cycle, and the courts he would face on appeal are largely courts he helped build.

Budget constraints are forcing liberal-leaning states that spend their own money on healthcare for noncitizens to scale back that aid, as they grapple with federal Medicaid cuts and the expiration of federal subsidies that helped people buy Obamacare plans.

Under federal law, immigrants who are in the country illegally are not eligible for federally funded health coverage.
But as of last month, six states — California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon and Washington — plus the District of Columbia were spending state dollars to cover some income-eligible noncitizen adults regardless of their immigration status. A total of 14 states plus the district provide state-funded coverage to noncitizen children whether they are here legally or not. And three states — Colorado, New Jersey and Vermont — cover pregnant women regardless of their immigration status.

In addition, 40 states have taken up options in Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, known as CHIP, to provide coverage to lawfully present children and/or pregnant women who are not citizens.

But the sweeping tax and spending bill President Donald Trump signed into law last summer cuts federal spending on Medicaid, the joint federal-state health insurance program for low-income people. It also places new eligibility restrictions on lawfully present immigrants, including refugees and asylees, who are enrolled in a variety of government-subsidized health programs, including Medicaid, CHIP, Medicare and plans available on the insurance marketplaces created under the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare.

They never should have had it to start with. Legal visa holders are forbidden from receiving taxpayer services as part of their visa requirements. Same with people going through the citizenship process.

With less federal money to provide health benefits, at least five states (California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota and Washington) plus the District of Columbia have already scaled back or announced plans to scale back state-funded health benefits for immigrants. Other states also may have to pull back as budget pressures continue.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is debating whether to require taxpayers to disclose their citizenship status on next year's federal tax forms, according to three people familiar with internal deliberations, as the Trump administration intensifies efforts to coordinate federal tax collection with immigration enforcement operations.
IRS officials are reviewing two versions of Form 1040, the standard document individuals use to report income and claim deductions or credits. One version contains routine updates reflecting changes in tax law. The second includes those updates and an additional field instructing filers to "Check this box if you are a non-U.S. citizen or have dual citizenship," the sources said, speaking on condition of anonymity due to fear of professional reprisal.
The Treasury Department, which oversees the IRS, declined to comment.
From revenue collection to enforcement arm

The potential citizenship disclosure requirement marks a significant departure from the IRS's traditional role as a neutral revenue collection agency. For decades, the agency has maintained strict confidentiality protections for taxpayer information, with unauthorized disclosures carrying penalties including imprisonment.
The shift toward using tax records for immigration enforcement follows the Trump administration's broader efforts to link federal agencies in its deportation campaign. Throughout 2025, the Treasury Department and Department of Homeland Security pursued agreements to share confidential taxpayer data with immigration officials.
A federal judge blocked that data-sharing arrangement in November 2025. The government has appealed. In February 2026, the IRS admitted in court filings that it had improperly shared data connected to more than 42,000 taxpayers with DHS.
Legal and privacy concerns mount

Disclosing taxpayer personal information�including names or addresses�outside narrow legal exceptions carries stiff penalties, including prison time. President Donald Trump himself recently dropped a $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS after a contractor leaked his tax returns to media outlets; the contractor is serving a five-year sentence.
The Justice Department created a nearly $1.8 billion fund to compensate victims of "government weaponization" as part of that settlement. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche signed an agreement permanently barring the IRS from pursuing tax claims against Trump, his family or his businesses.
Critics argue the citizenship question could transform the IRS into an immigration enforcement arm. "It's another step of turning the IRS into an agency that collaborates with immigration authorities," said Nina Olson, executive director of the Center for Taxpayer Rights, which filed the lawsuit blocking data-sharing.
Economic consequences: Fear driving down compliance

The proposal comes amid growing evidence that immigrant communities are already avoiding tax filing due to fear. Tax preparers nationwide reported frightened clients in 2025 after revelations of IRS collaboration with immigration enforcement.
The fiscal consequences are substantial. The Yale Budget Lab estimated lower tax compliance rates among immigrant communities could lead to a $313 billion loss in federal revenue over the next decade.
Under current law, foreign nationals residing in the United States�including those living in the country illegally�are required to file taxes and use the same IRS forms as citizens. Non-citizens pay into Social Security, Medicare and other programs through income, payroll and sales taxes, even though federal law prohibits undocumented immigrants from receiving most of those benefits.
What comes next

IRS officials are also considering alternative methods to determine taxpayer citizenship status. Non-citizens currently file taxes using nine-digit "individual tax identification numbers" instead of Social Security numbers. Tax officials have discussed creating differentiated codes to denote a filer's immigration status, the sources said.
No final decision regarding the proposed Form 1040 revisions has been publicly announced. The agency's deliberations come as federal courts continue to weigh the legality of using tax records for immigration enforcement�a question that may ultimately reach the Supreme Court.
The citizenship question debate underscores a fundamental tension: whether the IRS should remain a neutral tax collection agency or become a partner in federal immigration enforcement, with potentially billions in revenue at stake.

Immediately before WWII, the biggest threat to Europe was Soviet socialism.
During WWII, the biggest threat was the open socialism (in the form of fascism) in Germany and Italy.
After WWII, during the Cold War, the biggest threat, once again, was Soviet socialism. Nevertheless, the post-war Europeans embraced socialism and touted its success, never realizing that it worked only because the U.S. paid their defense costs and absorbed the costs of wars around the world.
When the Soviet Union collapsed, and America�s defense spending waned, the true costs of socialism began to be clear: The economies became sluggish; the birthrates collapsed, necessitating importing third world, usually Muslim, labor; the social services started imploding, especially because those same third worlders drained the systems, despite never having contributed to them; soft on crime policies destroyed civilized society; and the brain rot of socialism saw Europe embrace the madcap, self-destructive idea of Net Zero carbon output, which has seen Europe retreat from the modern world into a cold, dark, pre-modern time.
All of this is what today�s Marxist Democrats want for America.

Democrats have always revered Europe. For decades, they�ve made nasty jokes about �flyover country,� referring to those parts of America that haven�t embraced European sophistication as parochial hicks. Obama summed it up with his �bitter clingers� remark, Hillary called the same people �a basket of deplorables,� and Joe Biden routinely berated Trump voters as dangerous idiots (a compliment the same voters would have returned to Biden himself).
When Democrats talk about socializing medicine, they point to Europe, a place where the cost of medical care is diffused through the tax base. England, with its National Healthcare System, shows that socialized medicine really isn�t what the Democrats think it is. In England, the patients get killed, the government endlessly debates ending medical care for old people, wait times are endless, and the patients and staff (see here, too) are at the mercy of government-mandated political correctness.
Overall, outcomes are not good. And as Canada shows, because the system has no innovation and no wealth incentives, euthanasia becomes not just one of many options, but a preferred option.
Democrats also look to Europe for its (in their view) admirable climate policies. But most of all, they love Europe�s open-border policies. Since 2015, Europe (including the UK) has thrown open its borders to the world�s Muslims.

That�s nice, except for what that boast doesn�t say:

In the year ending December 2025, the total number of people immigrating to Britain stood at 813,000. For comparison, this figure is around two-thirds of the population of the U.K.�s second-largest city, Birmingham.
That figure comprises 110,000 British nationals returning to the U.K., and 76,000 EU citizens. By far the largest contingent of immigrants was from non-EU countries, accounting for 627,000 arrivals.
The 171,000 figure is also largely offset by emigration � nearly a quarter of a million (246,000) British nationals left the country, while 118,000 EU nationals and 278,000 non-EU nationals also packed their bags.
Total emigration of 642,000 was marginally down on the 680,000 recorded the previous year.
So, while the headline figure looks impressive, that is still a considerable decline in British nationals � down a net figure of 136,000 � effectively being replaced by largely non-EU immigrants. A total of 138,000 Indians, 56,000 Pakistanis, 54,000 Chinese, and 47,000 Nigerian nationals arrived.

There�s one other quality-of-life problem with third-world, mostly-Muslim immigration, which is that doctors who arrive from Muslim-majority countries and are hired in their socialized medicine systems have problems adapting�and the patients suffer. In Britain, Muslims are over-represented as doctors relative to their numbers in the greater population, and there are problems as a result, especially around hygiene, males treating females and vice versa, moving beds to face Mecca, and all sorts of other things (and that�s an old report, before the energy really got behind accommodating Islam).

Memorial Day compels Americans to confront a word we avoid: debt.
Not the financial kind that Congress pretends will magically resolve itself, but the older, heavier meaning � the kind carved into headstones at Arlington and cemeteries across the country.
It is the debt paid in full by those who gave their lives, so the rest of us could live free.

No interest rate can measure it. No budget line can contain it. It is final, irrevocable, and sacred.
Every year, we pause, as we should, to acknowledge that liberty is no accident. Its purchase price is steep. Many stood a post, walked point, climbed into a cockpit, or sailed into hostile waters so that we could enjoy the ordinary luxuries of American life: arguing about politics, grilling in the backyard, complaining about work, raising families in relative peace. The fallen paid the ultimate debt, while the rest of us live on the dividends of their courage.
There remains another debt that all Americans must face, one far less noble and far more self-inflicted: the national debt that at $39 trillion is growing faster than the economy and its current path is unsustainable with interest payments amounting to $1 trillion a year � a figure most cannot comprehend.
Unlike the solemn debt honored on Memorial Day, this one grows not from sacrifice but from avoidance, avarice and unaccountability. It is the bill we keep pushing onto future generations because those elected lack the discipline and forbearance to make the difficult choices.
The contrast is stark.
On one side are the young Americans who never hesitated when their country asked for everything. On the other, a political culture that bemoans over the smallest act of fiscal restraint. The fallen gave their lives, while Washington can�t forego a spending increase.
Memorial Day reminds us that debts must be paid.
The laws of economics will not suspend themselves out of patriotic courtesy. We borrow to fund today�s comforts while expecting tomorrow�s citizens, many of whom are not yet born, to pay the bill.
Imagine explaining this to a Marine who never made it home from Fallujah or a soldier who fell in the Korengal Valley. They understood duty in its rawest form. They lived by the credo that you don�t hand your problems over to the next guy. You handle them. You carry your weight. You complete the mission.
The contrast is telling and that is the point.
Memorial Day should not be reduced to a political talking point; rather it should remind us of the standards we once held. The men and women we honor this day lived with a clarity of purpose that our national budget sorely lacks. They understood that freedom requires responsibility. They knew that choices have consequences. They accepted that service is putting the country�s needs ahead of one�s personal initiatives.
If we truly want to honor their memory, we can start by adopting even a fraction of that discipline. We can demand leaders who treat the national debt as a real threat, not a distant abstraction. We can stop pretending that borrowing without limit is a harmless national pastime. And we can remember that the freedoms secured by the fallen are weakened when the nation they died for is weighed down by obligations it cannot meet.
The debt paid by America�s fallen is unpayable, but it is not unteachable. It is written in sacrifice, in folded flags, in names etched into stone.
One debt was paid in blood. The other is being charged to our children.
And if we forget the difference, then we have learned nothing from those who paid the first.

Memorial Day—which will be officially observed on Monday, May 25, this year — is a day to remember what should be remembered every day: The service and sacrifice of the more than 1.3-million American veterans who have given their lives in war so that we, their posterity, might live as free Americans. (See attached below a chart of casualties in all the wars from the War of Independence to Iraq and Afghanistan.)

Maj. General Patrick H. Brady (USA, ret.), Medal of Honor recipient (Vietnam), is considered to be America’s most decorated living veteran. Along with his daughter, Army veteran Meghan Brady Smith, Gen. Brady is the author of the memoir, “Dead Men Flying: Victory in Viet Nam, The Legend Of ‘Dust-off:’ America’s Battlefield Angels”).

Gen. Brady reminds us on Memorial Day:

“We have no ‘titles of nobility’ under our Constitution. America’s ‘nobles’ are our veterans. On Memorial Day, what is most important, indeed, most vital, is that we remember, honor, and are grateful for, the courage, love, service and sacrifice of America’s veterans in defense of our freedom—especially those more than 1.3-million veterans who have given their lives defending our country. They are the soul of freedom, the guardians of our Constitution, and the vault for the values of our nation.”

Similarly, the late-General Norman (“Stormin’ Norman”) Schwarzkopf, Commander of forces in the Persian Gulf War (“Desert Storm”), succinctly stated an enduring truth:

“Some things are worth living for. Some things are worth dying for. One of those things is freedom.”

We Americans of this era owe a great debt to those American patriots who came before us, veterans who gave their lives for freedom. We pay that debt to those Americans who came before us by what we are willing to do to preserve freedom for the Americans who will come after us.

Certain truths endure and must be recognized, perhaps especially on Memorial Day, if the American people are going to live in freedom. The first enduring truth is that freedom is not free. It has been purchased by the blood of American patriots, over 1.3-million of whom have given their lives in defense of our freedom.

The second enduring truth is that Americans will not remain free unless this and every generation of Americans is willing to fight and die if necessary in defense of American freedom— as all prior generations have done to preserve freedom. I attach below data on those patriotic veterans who have given their lives for our freedom in all the wars.

We Americans on this Memorial Day must honor those patriot veterans who gave their lives for our freedom, and we must ask ourselves: Are we Americans still a people willing to die to preserve freedom, as did those more than 1.3-million veterans who gave their lives to preserve freedom for us?

I attach also the great war poem In Flanders Fields. Although written in 1915 during the Battle of Ypres in WWI, it is as relevant, compelling, and moving today as it was then. This is most especially true of the final lines, which call on us to take up the “torch” of freedom from the falling hands of those dying, and warns: “If ye break faith with us who die/We shall not sleep, though poppies grow/In Flanders fields.”

If we are to remain free, we Americans must not “break faith” with those 1.3-million American veterans who have given their lives for American freedom.

May God bless and keep each and all of them; and may we Americans always honor and never forget them.

If you want to appreciate the American sacrifices in war, please talk to veterans or visit memorials and grave sites. Another option is the World War II American Experience Museum in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where you learn about the sacrifices also made by the American people as they encountered gas and food rationing, built victory gardens, and gathered up scrap metal for the war effort.
Americans learned to ration foods like sugar, coffee, cheese, and meats. A �victory speed limit� of 35 miles an hour was established to conserve gasoline and rubber tires. Toy companies were converted to making war material.
One exhibit, �Mobilizing for War,� examines how the American people were enlisted in the effort. Another showed �Arsenal of Democracy Production Lines.�
Significantly, the D-Day movie �Pressure� is being released nationwide in the United States on May 29, with special Memorial Day weekend screenings in select cities. The film examines the successful American-led liberation of Western Europe from Nazi Germany.
We are under a different kind of pressure today. Thirteen US troops have been killed and more than 380 wounded in Operation Epic Fury.
But the sacrifices here at home, to eliminate the Iranian nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs, are far less.
In today�s war with Iran, there is non-stop moaning and groaning over a rise in the price of gasoline per gallon. We do not face gas rationing or gas lines. It is a small price to pay for a military victory over the Nazi regime in Iran that is bac ked by Russia and China.
Hysteria over gas prices, still lower than under Biden, is fed by �fake news� media coverage of the war designed to sabotage President Trump and Republicans in November. Beneath the surface but now coming to the forefront is the same kind of antisemitism our soldiers fought in World War II.
In his concession speech the other day, as noted by Josh Kraushaar, libertarian Rep. Thomas Massie continued his �antisemitic vitriol� against his opponent, telling the crowd: �I had to call my opponent and concede, and it took a while to find Ed Gallrein in Tel Aviv.� Meanwhile, Texas Democratic congressional candidate Maureen Galindo has pledged to imprison �American Zionists.�
Senator Rand Paul campaigned for Massie and his publication �Rand Paul Review� says that �he stands where Massie stood.� Senator Rand Paul�s son, William Paul, recently engaged in an intoxicated, antisemitic tirade against Rep. Mike Lawler, a Republican Congressman in Washington, D.C. who is a conservative Catholic.

History shows that the Arabs and �Palestinians� rejected that and have lost several wars, finally resorting to the Hamas massacre of Israelis on October 7, 2023, and then feeling the brunt of the Israeli response.
Removing Hamas from Gaza, or even disarming the terrorists, does not solve the ultimate problem, and the Palestinian Authority is hardly a �moderate� alternative. It is the outgrowth of the old communist-sponsored Palestine Liberation Organization. Personally, I believe Israel faces genocidal opposition that can only be resolved by relocating the so-called Palestinians back to neighboring Arab/Muslim states.
Senator Paul, who has voted against the Iran War, claims that �our financial ticking time bomb� is a problem, and he is partly right about that. However, national defense is the responsibility of the federal government. This cannot be delegated to the states.
The situation in America is so serious that the bipartisan Jewish American Security Act has been introduced, as we just learned that a commander of an Iranian-backed terror group was charged with plotting to attack Jewish sites in the United States. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said the terrorist �directed and urged others to attack U.S. and Israeli interests and to kill Americans and Jews in the U.S. and abroad,� in order to advance the terrorist goals of Iran�s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
As we move forward as a nation, we have to remember �Those Honored Dead,� which is also the name of a poem I presented to Vietnam Vet and former FBI informant Larry Grathwohl at an America�s Survival, Inc. conference. It is written by Marion G. Mahoney. Saving Vietnam from communism was another noble cause.
President Trump has wisely decided to emphasize the benefit of integrating artificial intelligence into our military capabilities. In this regard, one AI defense firm, Palantir, has issued a manifesto, stating that �The question is not whether A.I. weapons will be built; it is who will build them and for what purpose. Our adversaries will not pause to indulge in theatrical debates about the merits of developing technologies with critical military and national security applications. They will proceed.�
Palantir CEO Alex Karp is openly pro-American, pro-Ukraine, and pro-Isael. Like Iran, Russia deserves to lose its war on Ukraine and the Putin regime should come to an end as well. Putin should be indicted in the same way the Trump Administration has indicted Cuban Communist Raul Castro.
The Palantir manifesto also declares, �Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation.�
In another plank in their platform, the firm declares, �National service should be a universal duty. We should, as a society, seriously consider moving away from an all-volunteer force and only fight the next war if everyone shares in the risk and the cost.�
Whether that national service plan happens or not, we have to consider the cost, relatively minor at the current time, of paying more for a gallon of gas in return for the destruction of a Nazi-style regime in Iran.
As negotiations continue over the fate of the regime�s enriched uranium, lying beneath the rubble of Iran�s nuclear facilities, we must honor President Trump and the U.S. Armed Forces for their victory over Iran!
Let us recognize how President Trump, like our third president, Thomas Jefferson, who fought the Muslim Barbary pirates, safeguarded our great nation from a Muslim terrorist regime�s aggression. Then let us honor President Trump with a place on the Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota.

Why did the democrats suffer a national shellacking in the 2024 elections? Why did Kamala Harris spend $1.5 billion within 107 days to no avail? What happened to the democrat party in America? Why did Joe Biden�s inner circle cover up his Alzheimer�s Disease? How did they get away with it? Does anyone understand that the liberal media aided and abetted the cover-up?
Let�s examine why American voters punched democrats in the guts with their choice for law and order, common sense, and a return to secure borders.
First of all, no matter how crazy it got out there after George Floyd overdosed on fentanyl, no rational, sane and reasonable American wants our police forces across our nation, �Defunded.� That �Thin Blue Line� keeps bad persons from committing more crimes. Cops keep your home safe. Cops keep our highways safe from drunks and speeders. Cops keep your children safe in your schools. Cops and inspectors maintain the rule of law in banks, in businesses and across the land.
To march for, and to promote �Defund the Police� proved the dumbest idea ever concocted by democrats. They lost their credibility with reasonable American citizens.
When Biden dumped over 15 million illegal aliens onto America�s heartland, he caused crime, shoplifting, job theft, endless deaths for American citizens, welfare fraud, bogus CDL�s for illegals, rapes, more deaths to American drivers, and the list grows.
And yet, foreign entities continue to fight I.C.E. operations, and some really stupid democrat Americans demonstrate and block I.C.E. operations in �Sanctuary Cities and States� across the nation. At the same time, those millions of illegals continue their incredible crimes and the costs to taxpayers in every sector of America. �Sanctuary Cities� violate every American�s right to safety, along with law and order. That�s why Americans voted Donald J. Trump into the White House.
Why is that? Simple: no one wants their front door smashed down and endless numbers of criminals taking up residence in their homes. America is our home. If you break our laws, you go to jail, and if you are an illegal alien, you get kicked out of our country.
What are democrats thinking when they demand �No Borders?� Every country in the world maintains borders. It allows their cultures, their languages and their way of life to maintain balance. When countries fail to maintain their borders, they forfeit national integrity. One look at Europe shows you that �No Borders� only leads to the downfall of entire cultures, languages and countries. That �weapon� comes in the form of millions of people flooding into our country who do not identify with America, our language, our form of freedom or our Constitutional Republic. You�re already seeing it manifest with NYC�s Mayor Mamdani Communist-Muslim-Ugandan refugee masquerading as someone who cares about America. He only follows the Quran and Sharia Law. The same goes for Minnesota�s Muslim AG Keith Ellison, who has shepherded one of the biggest welfare frauds to his Muslim Somalian refugees in American history�over $19 billion and counting.
What really angers Americans stems from liberals defending, supporting and allowing MEN to compete in WOMEN�S sports. Nothing supports it as to DNA, as to XX and XY chromosomes, as to masculine physical dominance, as to just plain biology. Yet, democrats continue supporting transgender boys beating the crap out of young girls while also parading around in girls� bathrooms. Worse, butchering young children into sex changes before the age of 21 must be the MOST insane policies ever allowed in America.
It�s SO BEYOND STUPID, but Minnesota Governor Tim Walz went so far as to put tampons in boys� bathrooms at schools. Normal people don�t like that kind of insanity forced on their children.
What about Critical Race Theory being jammed down Americans� throat? Why would anyone allow the color of your skin to determine your ability to succeed? In the end, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion must apply to Excellence, Performance and Results. That applies to athletics, educational excellence, and in the work world. You do well by your abilities, not the color of your skin. W.O.K.E. no longer fits. You either excel on your own merits, or you fail for your lack of skills. In other words, there is no �White Privilege� on the basketball court, tennis court or the gridiron.
What is it about LGBTQ+ people trying to bring their sexual style of living into grade school libraries? What is it about books about homosexual living that need to be introduced into 1st graders or 5th graders or 8th graders lives? Democrats might want to appreciate that most Americans want their children to grow up as normal, emotionally healthy, and mentally stable human beings.
Has anyone really come to grips with catastrophic climate destabilization, the �Green New Deal�, human overpopulation, resource exhaustion, our plasticized oceans, species extinction rates, or another dozen ecological crises facing our species?
Instead of �Trump Derangement Syndrome�, and constant complaining�-these suggestions for the democrats might elevate their status in America to higher ground:
As to our $38 trillion national debt, how about democrat presidential hopefuls present a solution to stop growing the debt, and erase the debt. We taxpayers are paying uncounted trillions of dollars in interest rates for something we didn�t create. Congress did!
With the incredible waste of resources, how about a Federal Law, 20 cent deposit/return on every plastic, glass and metal container sold in America. Not only would it recycle resources, but it would stop duplicating containers by reusing them.
Unless you want another 74 million people added to America from all over the world by 2060, and who are incompatible with American values as well as incapable of thriving in our country, examples are Somalians in Minneapolis who thrive on welfare, it�s time to stop all immigration into America. If you think we need them for emotional reasons, the fact is, we don�t.
Unless you want to see Socialism, a.k.a., Communism flourish in America, we need a Federal Law to stop it before it continues to spread across our country. It will undermine the most successful economic system in the world�capitalism.
How about democrats legislate against any foreign laws, such as Islam�s Sharia Law, because such laws violate our Constitution. If anyone practices Sharia Law, deport them, NOW!
How about strict guidelines for visa holders, green card holders, and student visas? If you demonstrate against, violate or impinge on our law enforcement officials, you are deported immediately. If you are inside the United States illegally, and I.C.E. arrests you, immediate deportation.
How about democrats legislating for a law that mandates that all employers must E-VERIFY every employee? If they don�t, HUGE fines and prison sentences for hiring illegals. That would stop the magnet for illegal aliens being employed. It�s already mandated in U.S. Code 8, Sections 1324, 1325, 1326. If you hire them, house them, or transport illegals, you are fined and go to jail.
Democrats, it�s all about serving the American people. It�s about putting us first, and enforcing our laws. It�s not about Mexican flags waving all over Los Angeles. It�s not about Palestinian flags flying all over our college campuses and streets of our cities. It�s not about that Salvadorian MS-13 Garcia illegal alien getting a free ride out of prison via U.S. Senator Van Hollen of Maryland.
If democrats and republicans would work together to solve these aforementioned points, just think how much better our country would be, and how our citizens would benefit.
It�s about America. It�s our country. It�s our culture. It�s our children�s future. It�s about every last American male and female soldier that served our country from 1776 to 2026 to protect us and defend us against all enemies foreign and domestic.

After a very busy day in Washington and at the White House, given the Saturday flurry of diplomatic activity over the announcement of a tentative Iran peace deal, but which is still awaiting word and some details from Tehran, a deadly shooting erupted just outside the White House, resulting in a massive security and response and presence.
President Trump was at the White House when at around 6pm ET the Secret Service responded in a hail of gunfire as 21-year-old Maryland man Nasire Best opened fire at 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW near the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

The president is safe, and the emergency has been declared over.
Somewhere between approximately 15 to 30 gunshots were fired, according to CBS News, which spoke to local law enforcement. President Trump was at the White House during the incident, "but was not impacted," the Secret Service spokesperson later announced.
A bystander was wounded, and the suspect was hit by by Secret Service officers upon returning fire. The gunman was wounded and taken to the hospital, where he later died.

CBS reports upon the suspect's name being identified that "According to the source, Best had a previous run-in with Secret Service in July 2025 in which he tried to gain entry to the White House and was arrested and sent to a psychiatric ward for mental health issues."
A complete White House lockdown as since been lifted. According to more emerging details:

The Secret Service confirmed a couple of hours after the shooting that the man had died after exchanging fire with its agents.
The man had approached a White House security checkpoint and pulled a gun from his bag before opening fire, according to the Secret Service. Law enforcement shot back and wounded the man, who was taken to the hospital where he died.

Per CBS, Senate Majority Leader John Thune and House Speaker Mike Johnson both praised the rapid response of the Secret Service as the shooting unfolded

The left-wing U.K. government has claimed it is making real progress in tackling the ongoing migration crisis enveloping Britain after official statistics published on Thursday showed that net migration had decreased to 171,000 last year. However, that figure alone doesn�t tell the whole story.

�I promised to restore control to our borders. My government is delivering,� under-pressure Prime Minister Keir Starmer wrote on X in response to the latest publication by the Office for National Statistics.
�Net migration is now at 171,000, down from a high of 944,000 under the Conservatives,� added Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, claiming the government had �restored order� after the unprecedented figures under the last Conservative administration.
Yet, a glance at the broader figures shows the reported number isn�t as impressive as the government would have you believe.
In the year ending December 2025, the total number of people immigrating to Britain stood at 813,000. For comparison, this figure is around two-thirds of the population of the U.K.�s second-largest city, Birmingham.
That figure comprises 110,000 British nationals returning to the U.K., and 76,000 EU citizens. By far the largest contingent of immigrants was from non-EU countries, accounting for 627,000 arrivals.
The 171,000 figure is also largely offset by emigration � nearly a quarter of a million (246,000) British nationals left the country, while 118,000 EU nationals and 278,000 non-EU nationals also packed their bags.
Total emigration of 642,000 was marginally down on the 680,000 recorded the previous year.
So, while the headline figure looks impressive, that is still a considerable decline in British nationals � down a net figure of 136,000 � effectively being replaced by largely non-EU immigrants. A total of 138,000 Indians, 56,000 Pakistanis, 54,000 Chinese, and 47,000 Nigerian nationals arrived.

The figures suggest that Britain remains a major destination for long-term migrants, and the scale of departures has become an increasingly important factor when reflecting on the overall migration picture.
The net figure for British nationals was the largest exodus since the 1960s.

Meanwhile, non-EU net migration to the U.K. still remains higher (by some margin) than in any other year preceding 2021.

Migration monitoring groups released statements on Thursday contesting the Labour government�s assessment that it was successfully tackling the problem.
�Our immigration system is dysfunctional,� wrote the Centre for Migration Control.
�Three quarters of a million foreign nationals still arrive every year, and one in five people living in Britain was not born here.
�Rather than heed these warning signs, Labour ministers will insist they have �taken back control,'� it added.
Other commentators noted that the Home Office no longer publishes the numbers of immigrants who entered the country on a visa that has since expired, and assumes they have left, leaving the figures contentious.

�If people�s visas expire and ONS has no record of them leaving the country, they simply assume that they have left � one reason to treat emigration and �net� migration figures with care,� noted Conservative MP Neil O�Brien.
Academic Matt Goodwin, who most recently stood for the right-wing Reform U.K. party in a by-election, warned, �The British people are being demographically replaced � there is no other term for it.�
Migration Watch U.K. called the recent migration wave into Britain �one of the most rapid and drastic demographic changes, outside of war, in human history � no wonder the public are concerned!�
It further questioned why the British public should be �thankful that net migration has �crashed� from the city a size of Birmingham arriving in a single year, to a city the size of Norwich.�

Migrants cost German taxpayers � just at the federal level � �24.8 billion in 2025, according to new data in the �refugee costs report� from the German Federal Ministry of Finance. However, the true sum is much higher.

The �24.8 billion is strictly the federal bill. The actual, combined national cost of migration for Germany is that �24.8 billion plus the massive, separate billions that the individual states and municipalities had to pull from their own local tax revenues to cover their own deficits brought on by mass immigration.
Welt notes that the total figure is indeed much higher, since it does not include states and local communes, but Welt does not provide this combined data.
Nevertheless, previous years indicate that this number is at least �15 to �20 billion. That means any total figure is likely well over �40 billion, but as in previous years, it may actually go as high as �50 billion.
The total costs cover several areas, including the federal government�s contribution to the refugee and integration costs of states and municipalities. One controversial issue is exactly how much money the federal government is transferring to the states and municipalities, which they argue is not enough to cover all their costs.
Essentially, the federal government only pays out a flat rate per initial asylum application, amounting to �7,500 from the federal government, allocated via a modification in the VAT distribution. This advance payment reached �1.25 billion for 2025. Additionally, the report assumes that the federal government holds a claim for repayment from the states totaling �250 million for 2025.
However, this only covers a fraction of the cost. The states indicate that the total costs in the area of flight and migration are significantly higher than the VAT resources available to them on the basis of the flat rate.
Of course, all of these expenses only cover specific areas like housing, direct social benefits, and integration courses. The true cost is still far higher than �40 billion to �50 billion.
The costs, for instance, do not cover expenses associated with the substantial foreign prison population. They also do not cover the need for the vastly increased police forces and counter-terrorism efforts. There are also �gray areas� that lead to other hidden taxes on Germans brought on by mass immigration. For instance, mass immigration has led to vastly higher housing prices, more road traffic, crowded hospitals, and longer wait times for medical treatments.
Germans are even paying higher health insurance premiums now due to mass immigration.
The head of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds (GKV-Spitzenverband) has repeatedly criticized the federal government for creating a massive multi-billion-euro deficit that forces them to raise premiums, with the core of the complaint revolving around �non-insurance benefits.� These are social welfare benefits mandated by the government that are paid out to people who have not paid regular insurance contributions into the system. This includes long-term unemployed citizens and refugees.
When asylum seekers first arrive in Germany, they are not members of the statutory health insurance system. Under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act, their healthcare costs are covered, with local municipalities and state social offices paying their bills.
The financial friction begins once a migrant�s asylum application is approved, or if they have been in the country for 36 months without a final decision. At this point, they transition into the standard welfare system, known as citizen�s money.
Once on welfare, they are fully integrated into the statutory health insurance system. This is where the GKV-Spitzenverband argues the math breaks down, with the government only paying �108 per person per month for welfare recipients, the majority of which are migrants and those with a migration background, when the care actually costs between �300 and �350 a month.
This has resulted in a multi-billion euro deficit, which the insurance companies say now needs to be passed on to Germans actually paying for their health insurance.
In short, Germans are being squeezed from all sides due to mass immigration, and despite claims that foreigners would pay the pensions of Germany�s aging population, this is clearly unrealistic. Instead, Germany�s elderly may now be expected to work even longer, with a strong movement in the government to raise the retirement age to 73.

Mary, a veteran Silicon Valley marketer who can't find a job, considers herself a victim of an H-1B visa program run amok.
Her story, a U.S. native replaced by a foreign-born employee who is willing to work at a significantly lower wage, has become commonplace, particularly in the tech industry. Adding insult to injury, she says, her CEO, who hails from India, told her to train the man he selected to replace her before laying her off.

Despite stints at Google and Cisco and two years of job hunting, Mary can no longer compete in a job market saturated with foreign-born H-1B visa holders. "I had experience. I should have walked right into these corporate jobs, but I didn't. Why? Because Silicon Valley is flooded with people who work for two-thirds of the price, or even half price," said Mary, who asked to be identified only by her first name.
U.S. tech workers like Mary are at the center of a battle brewing in Washington, D.C., over reforming the troubled H-1B visa program, which is designed to fill highly skilled positions when qualified American workers can't be found. The controversy pits tough-on-immigration Republicans and some Democrats against the most formidable of opponents - Big Tech, the primary beneficiary of a program considered by critics to be little more than a pipeline of cheap labor.
In the last few decades, the California dream has gone global as U.S. tech firms have filled their ranks and C-suites with employees born abroad. Intel is no longer the company of its founders, Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore, but of Malaysian-born Lip-Bu Tan, its CEO since March 2025. Microsoft is led by Satya Nadella; Alphabet Inc. by Sundar Pichai; Adobe by Shantanu Narayen; IBM by Arvind Krishna; YouTube by Neal Mohan; and T-Mobile US by Srinivas Gopalan - all of whom were born in India.
All told, a remarkable two-thirds of the Valley's nearly 400,000 tech jobs are now held by those born abroad, according to a 2025 report from the think tank Joint Venture Silicon Valley. Today, more tech workers were born in India (23%) and China (18%) combined than in the U.S. (34%).
Low-Cost Talent

The influx of low-cost Asian talent has clearly helped fuel profits in one of America's most influential sectors. But there is a downside to this tech boom - the sidelining of U.S. workers thanks to the H-1B visa program that's no longer working as intended. Created in 1990, the federal program has morphed into a vehicle for employers, particularly in the nation's tech centers, to recruit much cheaper foreign labor at the expense of U.S. tech workers, according to Harvard economist George J. Borjas.
While the H-1B program spans multiple industries, it's overwhelmingly concentrated in tech. Last year, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, Tata Consultancy, and Google were the biggest visa users, with Amazon alone recording more than 13,000 applications. These companies find the savings from hiring foreign workers hard to resist. The job of software developer, for instance, accounts for 38% of all H-1B visa workers, according to a 2026 paper by Borjas. And these foreign software developers earn about 30% less than their U.S. counterparts, the economist estimates.
Since many of these tech jobs pay six figures, the savings quickly add up. Borjas estimates that companies, on average, save nearly $100,000 per worker over six years by hiring an H-1B worker rather than an American. The arrangement "redistributes wealth from those who compete with immigrants to those who use immigrants," Borjas wrote in 2016. That, in turn, helps account for the soaring stock prices of Big Tech since the 2008 financial crash.
False Rationale

The vaguely written H-1B law has been easy for companies to exploit. Hassan Abdullah, an immigration attorney and H-1B advocate, said the supposed congressional basis of the law - to fill highly skilled jobs with foreigners if Americans aren't available - has always been a fiction. "The regulations don't necessarily say that," said Abdullah, who helps companies get the visas. "Throughout all my years, I've never had to even consider that as a factor."
One of the most glaring weaknesses of the law, critics say, is that most companies applying for these visas are not required to demonstrate that they were unable to find qualified American workers. Only companies with more than 15% of their workforce on H-1Bs must make small efforts to recruit U.S. citizens, such as publicly announcing open positions.
Companies are required to pay foreign workers at least the "prevailing wage" for the occupation and region, a provision that should theoretically reduce the incentive to hire employees from Asia. But the process relies on self-reporting and has been easy to manipulate because salaries are calculated using broad regional averages that often fail to reflect real market wages in the technology sector.
As a result, the number of H-1B visa workers has skyrocketed. When an annual cap of 85,000 new visas is combined with renewals, 2025 was a banner year with 406,348 approved visas, according to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). Seventy percent of those visas were issued to Indians. That compares with a total of 275,317 visa approvals in 2015.
Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt, who's part of the MAGA wing of the GOP, reacted to these numbers on X, calling the program "a national security nightmare. Enough. No more flooding the market with 400k+ H-1B visas while our people and our sovereignty gets screwed."
With criticism of the visas dovetailing with broader anti-immigration sentiments, the Trump administration has made the most serious move yet to restrict the program. Six months ago, the USCIS announced a new $100,000 fee that companies must pay per new H-1B worker living outside the U.S. While official figures have not yet been released, some immigration experts estimate that the fee may lead to a 30% to 50% decline in new visa applications.
"This is the first year we have not filed any H-1B visas for people outside the U.S. because tech companies don't want to pay the $100,000 fee," said immigration attorney Navdeep Meamber, who is based in Silicon Valley.
But companies have found a workaround. Meamber said she has seen an uptick in the number of clients filing for the visas for workers already in the U.S., particularly those such as students who transferred from other visa types to H-1Bs.
"The $100,000 fee is not reducing the numbers because foreign students, especially those who get on the Optional Practical Training program, can move into the H-1B pipeline without paying that fee," said attorney Rosemary Jenks, a campaigner for immigration reform with the Immigration Accountability Project. "So there are still plenty of H-1B visas being issued every year."
American Ingenuity

Silicon Valley wasn't always dominated by foreigners. Some claim the true birthplace of Silicon Valley can be found in a garage at 367 Addison Avenue in Palo Alto. It was there that David Packard, a native of Colorado, and Bill Hewlett of Michigan founded Hewlett-Packard in 1939. Robert Noyce, a native son of Iowa and co-inventor of the integrated circuit, critically made from silicon, gave name to the valley after the substance. With his colleague, Gordon Moore of San Francisco, they founded Intel in 1968.
Throughout the post-war years, America's booming tech industry was largely pioneered by natives. By the 1980s, however, concerns were raised about the dwindling number of young people available to fill STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) jobs in the future. Erich Bloch, director of the National Science Foundation, told the American Council on Education in 1985: "The pool of potential students from U.S. schools will become smaller. Demographic projections, of which you are all aware, show the number of 18-to-24-year-olds declining by about 20% over the next decade."
The 1990 Immigration Act, signed by George H. W. Bush, created the H-1B visa, a temporary work visa lasting a few years aimed at filling the labor shortages Bloch had warned about. Since then, as in many industries, tech firms have sometimes struggled to find employees, particularly specialized engineers, during times of rapid growth. But whether the industry faces a persistent shortage of American workers is a matter of debate among economists and labor analysts.
Major technology companies reject the criticism that the H-1B system is primarily a source of cheap labor. Executives stress that the program allows American firms to recruit engineers and researchers with advanced technical expertise in areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductor design, and complex software development, where qualified talent can be scarce. They also contend that many H-1B workers are paid high salaries and that access to global talent helps keep American companies competitive against rivals in China and elsewhere.
Critics of the visas point to waves of layoffs, today driven by AI, accompanied by the growth in H-1Bs, as evidence that a labor shortage is nothing more than a fig leaf. Michael Capuano of the Federation for American Immigration Reform wrote in a blog post last year that "Google laid off 951 U.S. employees in 2024, but found room for 1,058 new H-1B workers. Apple laid off 735 people in 2024, but signed on 864 new H-1B employees. Microsoft laid off 3,426 workers from 2022 to 2024 and hired 3,259 new H-1Bs during that same period."
A 2023 analysis by the Economic Policy Institute similarly found that the top 30 H-1B employers hired more than 34,000 new H-1B workers in 2022 while laying off at least 85,000 employees during the same period.
In addition to cheaper talent, critics say H-1B visas also provide a captive workforce. Because employers can sponsor visa holders for permanent residency, many workers become heavily reliant on keeping their jobs in order to remain in the United States. Critics argue this dynamic discourages employees from changing companies or demanding higher wages, with some likening the system to a form of indentured servitude.
Tribalism At Play?

Critics say favoritism has also contributed to foreign dominance of the tech sector. After foreign-born employees take on leadership roles, including CEO, they sometimes attract and hire more foreigners by tapping their own professional and social networks.
Kevin Lynn, executive director of the Institute for Sound Public Policy, argues that "professionalism doesn't exist in these IT departments anymore," adding that "when you look at the hiring, it becomes very tribal; It's really India versus the rest of the world."
Microsoft saw the number of decisions on H-1B applications rise from 2,983 in 2014, when Nadella became CEO, to 6,258 in 2025. Google's numbers jumped from 2,309 in 2015, when Pichai took the top job, to 7,868 in 2025. During these years, these companies also grew, making it hard to know if the percentage of foreign workers increased. At IBM, H-1B decisions have remained consistent since Arvind Krishna was named the leader.
Meamber, the immigration lawyer, disputes the idea that companies run by foreign-born leaders are more likely to rely on labor from their home country. "The CEO doesn't even know who is being hired. These decisions are being made at a lower level by the HR team and by the recruiters," she said.
Stephen Vivien, an engineer, said he witnessed Indian employees help each other get hired by sharing interview questions when he worked at Google. "There were a lot of H-1B workers and they created their own little network," he said. "[When] one Indian guy would be coming up for his interview, the other Indian guys who had [already] gotten hired would call and share the questions."
In April, a New York jury found New Jersey-based Cognizant Technology Solutions liable for $8.4 million after a former executive sued the company, which was founded in India, for discrimination against non-Indian and non-South Asian workers. The executive argued he was passed over for a promotion and was later fired for raising concerns about bias against non-Indian employees.
The decision follows a separate successful lawsuit brought by three other employees against Cognizant in 2017, all similarly claiming discrimination against non-Indian workers, though the company is appealing and denies all allegations. In both lawsuits, juries found in favor of claims that Cognizant had used the H-1B program as a tool to discriminate against American workers. Since 2009, the company has received tens of thousands of H-1B visa approvals.
Reformers Vs. Big Tech

While restrictions to the program, including last year's $100,000 fee, have yet to meaningfully slow its growth, some Republicans have called to abolish it. In February, Florida representative Greg Steube introduced the EXILE Act, which would end the H-1B visa program entirely.
A proposed reform that might gain more bipartisan support targets the ineffective prevailing wage requirement that allows firms to underpay foreign workers. One idea floated by Republicans would create a minimum salary requirement for H-1B workers that's much higher than the current pay scale, thus removing the financial incentive to replace U.S.-born workers.
Ro Khanna, the Democratic congressman representing much of Silicon Valley, said on the All-In podcast last year that "there's definitely abuse [that] needs to be corrected" in the H-1B program. Khanna said a new prevailing wage standard would be a reform he could support.
But legislation that would raise labor costs would be opposed by Big Tech, armed with its war chest of money and influence in Washington. Jenks, the lawyer, said H-1B reformers face a tough fight. "The donors on this issue include all of the high-tech companies, whether it's Microsoft, Facebook, all of them," she said. "They put millions and millions of dollars every year into lobbying."

Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D) took additional steps this week to put limits on federal immigration enforcement, issuing an executive order that bars U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from carrying out arrests on state property unless they have a warrant.

Her executive order also prohibits ICE agents from using state property as a staging area for enforcement operations.
�Kids in elementary school are afraid to get on the bus, neighbors fear being targeted based on their appearance at the grocery store, and workers are not showing up at their jobs,� Spanberger said in a news release Wednesday announcing the order. �Public trust in state and local law enforcement is being undermined by the aggressive tactics used by federal immigration officials.�

The order and a bill signed by Spanberger this week that prohibits law enforcement officers from wearing masks in most situations are part of efforts by state officials around the country to temper the Trump administration�s ramped-up immigration enforcement effort.

After being sworn into office in January, one of Spanberger�s first acts as governor was to issue an executive order rescinding an action by her predecessor, former governor Glenn Youngkin (R), that required state law enforcement agencies to enter into cooperation agreements with ICE. Such 287(g) agreements deputize state officials to either conduct federal immigration enforcement themselves or allow them to facilitate ICE arrests.

Just hand them over to ICE, since they broke some law when detained by local, county, and state law enforcement. That would avoid a lot of the issues.

J. Garren Shipley, spokesman for the House Republican Caucus, said his party believes both bills overstepped the authority of the state, venturing into federal law enforcement policy, and were, therefore, unconstitutional.
�The U.S. Constitution makes it absolutely clear that when federal and state law are in conflict, federal law wins,� Shipley said in an interview. �States cannot interfere with how federal law enforcement officers conduct their duties.�

Expect a lawsuit by the DOJ soon, just like in the other places that tried this. Once again, the point of Democrats protecting illegals, even murderers and child rapists, is to get them to vote in local elections, maybe county and state, get more Dems elected to offices, and, whoops, they just happened to fill out the federal section of the ballot and vote for Dems federally.

The Trump Administration said on Friday that most foreigners seeking green cards will have to return to their home countries to apply, an extraordinary change that could make it more difficult for hundreds of thousands of people to obtain permanent residency.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the agency that oversees the legal immigration system, said it would grant green cards to people inside the country only in “extraordinary circumstances.” People applying for permanent residency will have to go through consular processing outside the country instead, according to a memo issued by the agency.

Fahima Egeh Mahamud, 50, CEO of Future Leaders Early Learning Center, allegedly submitted more than 13,000 false claims to Minnesota's Child Care Assistance Program between 2022 and 2025, according to prosecutors. Thousands of those claims required families to make co-payments before the daycare could receive federal reimbursements.

Prosecutors say Mahamud falsely certified that those family co-payments had been collected, allowing her daycare business to receive roughly $4.6 million in improper reimbursements.
The case is not Mahamud's first encounter with federal fraud investigators. She was separately charged in February with wire fraud over her alleged role in the Feeding Our Future meal-fraud scheme, the sprawling Minnesota case in which federal prosecutors say taxpayer money meant to feed children during the pandemic was diverted through sham meal sites, inflated meal counts, rosters, invoices, and kickback arrangements.
In that earlier case, prosecutors alleged that from December 2020 to July 2021, Mahamud claimed to serve tens of thousands of meals to children each month at the Future Leaders site, when the site allegedly served only a fraction of those meals.
An attorney for Mahamud could not be reached for comment. Mahamud and all other defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
A Wider Minnesota Fraud Crackdown

The daycare charge comes as Minnesota faces a widening federal crackdown on alleged fraud across multiple state-administered programs. AP reported that, after former Feeding Our Future leader Aimee Bock was sentenced to nearly 42 years in prison, federal authorities announced a new batch of charges against 15 people accused of stealing from social-service programs administered through Minnesota's state government.
AP said the new cases involve roughly $90 million across seven state-managed Medicaid programs. Those cases include Mahamud, whom AP identified as the former CEO of Future Leaders Early Learning Center. Prosecutors allege her organization was reimbursed about $4.6 million for services tied to people who did not make required co-payments.

The New York Post reported that Justice Department officials described the latest Minnesota charges as involving the two largest Medicaid fraud cases ever brought in the district, including what officials called the "largest autism fraud scheme ever." According to the Post's account of the DOJ announcement, prosecutors said the schemes involved fake diagnoses, billing for services that were not provided, and the exploitation of programs intended for vulnerable people.
Autism Program Targeted In Alleged $40 Million Scheme

One of the most explosive allegations involves Minnesota's Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention program, known as EIDBI, a Medicaid-funded autism services program for children and young people.
FBI Director Kash Patel said in a post on X that one alleged scheme was worth more than $40 million and involved kickbacks to parents who fraudulently used autism centers to obtain autism diagnoses for children regardless of medical necessity, followed by billing for services that were not actually provided.

That allegation shifts the Minnesota story from ordinary benefits fraud into something much darker: children, disabled patients, and struggling families allegedly being treated as billing instruments inside programs that were supposed to help them.
The Justice Department had already been building toward this moment. In December, federal prosecutors announced additional charges in autism and housing fraud cases, including allegations that a Minnesota autism provider paid cash kickbacks to parents, submitted inflated Medicaid claims, billed for services not actually provided, and obtained millions of dollars from Minnesota's Department of Human Services and related payors.
Housing And Home-Care Programs Under Scrutiny

Federal prosecutors have also zeroed in on Minnesota's Housing Stabilization Services program, a Medicaid benefit designed to help people with disabilities, seniors, people with mental illness, and people with substance-use disorders find and maintain housing.
According to the Justice Department, the program had low barriers to entry and minimal records requirements, making it vulnerable to fraud. The program's costs exploded from an expected $2.6 million annually to more than $21 million in 2021, $42 million in 2022, $74 million in 2023, and $104 million in 2024.
In one housing case, two Pennsylvania men pleaded guilty to traveling repeatedly to Minneapolis to defraud the Housing Stabilization Services program, according to the DOJ. Prosecutors said they stole about $3.5 million for services they falsely claimed to have provided to roughly 230 Medicaid beneficiaries and even used ChatGPT to generate fake client notes when insurers asked for documentation.
Feeding Our Future Casts A Long Shadow

The overlap among these cases is what has made the Minnesota scandal so politically explosive. What began with Feeding Our Future has expanded into child care, housing services, autism therapy, home supports, and other Medicaid-funded programs.
According to AP, Bock's Feeding Our Future network involved phony distribution sites, fake lists of children supposedly being fed, kickbacks, and lavish spending on international travel, real estate, and luxury vehicles. Bock was convicted last year of conspiracy, fraud, and bribery and sentenced this week to nearly 42 years in prison.

Bock blames Minnesota officials for not catching the fraud, telling CBS: "We relied on the state," adding that local officials, including Rep. Ilhan Omar, would often visit the meal sites. "We told the state, this site is going to operate at this address, this time, and this number of children. The state would then tell us that's approved."

The Justice Department has described Feeding Our Future as the single largest COVID-19 fraud scheme in the country. Prosecutors said the scheme stole roughly $250 million from a federal child nutrition program that was supposed to feed children during the pandemic.
Future Leaders Early Learning Center was also one of the Minneapolis daycares referenced or featured in YouTuber Nick Shirley's viral December video examining possible fraud in the system. The video helped push the issue into national politics and drew attention from federal officials already scrutinizing Minnesota-administered benefits programs.
Washington Freezes Funding And Demands Answers

The fallout has reached Washington. The Department of Health and Human Services announced on Jan. 6 that it had frozen access to certain child care and family-assistance funds for California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, and New York, citing concerns about widespread fraud and misuse of taxpayer dollars in state-administered programs.
According to the HHS announcement, the freeze applied to three programs: the Child Care and Development Fund, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, and the Social Services Block Grant.
Minnesota has also faced specific Medicaid funding pressure. AP reported that the Trump administration notified the state it was deferring an additional $91 million in Medicaid funding because of concerns about fraud vulnerabilities in state-run but federally funded social-service programs. That came on top of hundreds of millions of dollars the administration had already withheld earlier this year.
CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz said the additional deferral was tied partly to high-risk service categories and partly to concerns about payments for ineligible recipients. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz called the move political retaliation, while state officials said they have been taking aggressive action to stop fraud and recover improper payments.
The Oversight Question

The numbers explain why the issue is not going away. Minnesota receives about $185 million in child care funds each year from the Administration for Children and Families, according to HHS officials cited in earlier reporting. The latest cases raise basic questions about how federal money was monitored, how providers were verified, why warning signs were missed, and how alleged fraud was able to spread across so many programs before federal investigators stepped in.
The scandal now appears to be less about one daycare, one nonprofit, or one program than about a broader failure of oversight. Prosecutors are no longer describing isolated cases of paperwork abuse. They are alleging networks of providers, recruiters, shell companies, fake records, kickbacks, inflated claims, and programs designed for children, disabled people, and low-income families being turned into taxpayer-funded revenue streams.
For Minnesota, the political problem is obvious. For taxpayers, the question is simpler: how many more programs were treated this way, and how much money is gone?

Western Hemisphere said on May 20 that an aircraft carrier strike group entered the Caribbean Sea, as the Trump administration heaps pressure on the Cuban communist regime.
In a post on X, U.S. Southern Command said that the USS Nimitz is now in the Caribbean and released video footage of the carrier group. Southern Command did not provide more details about why the carrier group traveled to the region.
The Nimitz, it said, "has proven its combat prowess across the globe, ensuring stability and defending democracy from the Taiwan Strait to the Arabian Gulf."
The Nimitz, commissioned in 1975, carried out joint naval exercises with the Brazilian Navy off the coast of Rio de Janeiro last week, the U.S. Embassy in Brazil said in a May 14 statement.
On May 20, the Department of Justice (DOJ) unsealed a criminal indictment against former Cuban leader Raul Castro, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio released a video in Spanish urging Cubans to reject the country's communist leadership.
According to the DOJ indictment, Castro was indicted in connection with the 1996 downing of civilian planes operated by Miami-based exiles. Castro, now 94, was Cuba's defense minister when the planes were shot down, killing four people.
The charges against Castro, the brother of former Cuban leader Fidel Castro, drew pushback from the country's current leader, Miguel Diaz-Canel, in a post on X.
"This is a political maneuver, devoid of any legal foundation, aimed solely at padding the fabricated dossier they use to justify the folly of a military aggression against Cuba," Diaz-Canel wrote.
This year, U.S. President Donald Trump has been ratcheting up talk of regime change in Cuba and said he would potentially initiate a "friendly takeover" of the country if its leadership did not open up its economy to American investment and kick out U.S. adversaries.
When asked what will happen next for the U.S. embargo on Cuba on Wednesday, Trump said, "We're going to see." He added that the U.S. government is ready to provide humanitarian assistance to what he described as a failing country.
Trump said that "there won't be escalation" between the United States and Cuba, adding, "I don't think there needs to be."
"Look, the place is falling apart. It's a mess," Trump added. "They've really lost control of Cuba."
In Cuba, there is no food, electricity, or energy, Trump said, adding that the U.S. government will have to act to assist the country.
Earlier this month, CIA Director John Ratcliffe traveled to Cuba to meet with the country's top officials, a visit that came as the country's energy minister said the island has completely run out of fuel and that its power grid is in a critical state.
In January, the U.S. military launched an operation in Venezuela that captured its president, Nicolas Maduro, an ally of the Cuban regime, and took him to the United States to face drug-trafficking charges.
Since September 2025, the U.S. military has been launching strikes against suspected drug-smuggling boats in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific Ocean in what the military calls Operation Southern Spear.

President Donald Trump is moving to tighten access to financial systems for non-citizens in the U.S. amid his Administration�s broader crackdown on immigration.
On Tuesday, Trump signed an executive order, titled �Restoring Integrity to America�s Financial System,� that would require banks to treat a customer�s immigration status as a factor in evaluating potential financial risk.
The new order directs the Treasury Secretary and federal financial regulators to issue guidance to banks on identifying customers whose profiles or transactions potentially indicate risks like money laundering, terrorism financing, and labor trafficking in line with the 1970 Bank Secrecy Act. Those changes are intended to �account for the risks foreign consular identification cards pose to the integrity of the United States financial system,� the order said.
The order describes �red flags and typologies� associated with suspicious activity. Among these are repetitive cash withdrawals, the use of shell companies to conceal true account ownership, and the use of certain platforms for �off-the-books� wage payments.

You can see this is aimed a lot at the amount of scam money being sent overseas, particularly to Somalia, by legal and illegal aliens (FYI, alien in federal law means �not a US citizen�)

The move could make it more difficult for non-citizens, especially undocumented immigrants, to access financial services, even for legitimate reasons. The Administration has aggressively clamped down on both legal and illegal immigration in the U.S. It has detained and deported people en masse, including some with lawful immigration status; increased scrutiny for visa and citizenship applications; and restricted immigrants� access to public services. Large-scale immigration raids have ignited protests across the country, which have ended in the killings of several Americans by federal agents.

Why are our governors and mayors of major cities aiding and abetting criminals? How do those elected officials avoid prosecution when citizens suffer death at the hands of those criminals? Where is the accountability? At what point does Illinois Governor Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson face criminal consequences for their corrupt behavior? Case in point:
Sheridan Gorman, an 18-year-old freshman at Loyola University Chicago, was fatally shot on March 19, 2026, at Tobey Prinz Beach in the Rogers Park neighborhood. The suspect, Jose Medina-Medina, was a 25-year-old Venezuelan national who the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) alleges is an undocumented immigrant. According to reports, Gorman was walking with friends around 1:00 a.m. when the suspect allegedly approached them while wearing a mask and armed with a gun. As she attempted to flee, she was shot and died at the scene.
She died because Pritzker and Johnson support “Sanctuary State and City” policies that allow criminals to roam free, not only rob, steal, shoplift, and drive in Illinois—but to kill American citizens.
What about that woman who was set on fire by an illegal alien in the Chicago subway by an illegal alien? Why aren’t Pritzker and Johnson standing in front of a 12 person jury for her attack?

That illegal alien had been arrested for previous crimes, but released by Mayor Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul of New York because of Sanctuary State policies.
Same with the death of Laken Riley, a nursing student at the University of Georgia. Illegal alien Jose’ Ibarra raped her and bludgeoned her to death. He had been arrested twice in New York, but released to kill that college coed.
Guess what, there are hundreds of examples of criminals allowed to go free in major cities around America because of elected governors, mayors and judges who support and release criminals back into American society.
At this point, Washington AG Jeanie Piro, after a bunch of teen thugs trashed a Chipotle’s restaurant, said, “I am going to prosecute the parents of those teens to the fullest extent of the law. They are responsible for their children’s actions.”
So, why not make governors, mayors and judges responsible for their part in the killings of law-abiding American citizens?
An even bigger question could be asked: why are average citizens voting such corrupted governors and mayors like Pritzker, Newsom, Johnson, Johnston, Mamdani, Polis, and many more—-back into office?

How does one man accumulate 10-years of criminal activity, and he’s still out on the streets?

While it appears hopeless, we must use our brains, our common sense, and our lawful right to vote people into office who represent and follow-through on law and order. It’s THAT simple. The 17-year-old connected to the shooting spree that took place across Austin this past weekend had his first court appearance Tuesday.
The backstory:
17-year-old Cristian Mondragon has been charged with six felonies. The charges include: (snip)
In court, it was revealed Mondragon is not a U.S. citizen and currently has an ICE hold.
He was also on probation through the juvenile justice system and has a juvenile detainer. (snip)
Authorities said the 17-year-old, Cristian Mondragon-Fajardo, had an active warrant for stealing a firearm from the same store where the 15-year-old allegedly stole another gun Saturday. Investigators believe the suspects stole more than four vehicles during the spree and may have switched vehicles multiple times.

So, an illegal who should have already been deported for being a criminal. Can�t wait for more news that shows he came in during the Biden years and is a gang member who should never have been let in to start with (beyond being an illegal, of course).
Unsurprisingly, there are only 3 stories, all locals including the above, on Google news for the past 24 hours that mention he�s an illegal. There is nothing at CNN, NY Times, Washington Post, LA Times, ABC, CBS, NBC, etc and so on about the Austin shooting for days, and certainly not the kids� name or that he�s an illegal. They essentially memory-holed the story when it looked like the shooters could be illegals and they couldn�t use the narrative of �guns bad�.

A House lawmaker has introduced legislation to prevent foreign adversaries, particularly the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), from exploiting sister city partnerships and jeopardizing U.S. national security.

�America�s local communities should never be left vulnerable to foreign influence operations masquerading as cultural exchange,� Roy said in a statement on May 14.
�The Sister City Transparency Act brings much-needed oversight and accountability to these partnerships, helping ensure they serve the interests of the American people�not the strategic ambitions of the Chinese Communist Party or other foreign adversaries.�
Study on Sister City Partnerships

The legislation would direct the comptroller general�the head of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO)�to conduct a study of sister-city partnerships with communities in countries deemed to have �significant public sector corruption,� including Russia and China, the lawmaker�s office explained. According to the language of the bill, the measure would specifically target countries that scored 45 or lower on Transparency International�s 2019 Corruption Perceptions Index.
China scored 41 in the 2019 index and 43 in the 2025 index.
The study would identify how foreign communities select U.S. communities for sister city partnerships, including whether certain economic activities or demographic factors influence those decisions; analyze the activities conducted in these partnerships and their economic and educational outcomes; review what types of information these partnerships make publicly available, including details related to contracts; and review how American communities �safeguard freedom of expression� and mitigate risks such as �foreign espionage and economic coercion� within these partnerships, according to the legislation.
Another part of the study would look into whether these partnerships involve economic arrangements that could make American communities �vulnerable to malign market practices� or educational arrangements that could �diminish the freedom of expression,� according to the legislation. Additionally, it would assess the extent of foreign access to local commercial, educational, and political institutions, and whether foreign actors could achieve �strategic objectives� contrary to U.S. economic or national security interests.
The legislation would also require a study of whether these partnerships are linked to broader foreign malign activities, such as �human rights abuses and academic and industrial espionage,� and how U.S. communities can prevent misuse of visa programs connected to them, according to the legislation.
The comptroller general would have six months to submit a report on its study to six congressional committees, including the armed services and foreign affairs committees in both chambers. The report would include findings, conclusions, recommendations, and, if necessary, a classified annex.
Concerns Over CCP Influence

�The CCP has demonstrated a pattern of exploiting international partnerships to expand influence, gather intelligence, and apply political pressure. Similar to concerns raised with Confucius Institutes, sister city relationships can create vulnerabilities for American communities, including exposure to foreign espionage, economic coercion, and ideological influence operations,� Roy�s office stated.
Similar legislation (S.1351) was introduced in the Senate in April 2025 by Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.).
�Communist China is exploiting sister city partnerships to achieve its own strategic objectives, and we need to make certain we are not enabling this activity in our own communities,� Blackburn said in a statement at the time. �This legislation would shine a bright light on these partnerships to keep our enemies from furthering their own dangerous agendas.�

The NAACP launched a campaign Tuesday calling on Black student-athletes to boycott Southern colleges in the wake of a Supreme Court decision last month that weakened the Voting Rights Act, leading to the dismantling of one majority-Black congressional district and a push to scrap others.
“The NAACP will not watch the same institutions that depend on Black athletic prowess to fill their stadiums and their bank accounts remain silent while their states strip Black communities of their voice,” NAACP National President and CEO Derrick Johnson said in a statement.

The group is urging Black recruits to withhold their commitments from a list of universities primarily within the NCAA’s Southeastern Conference. The schools are in the following states: Tennessee, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas and Georgia. Several of the schools have nationally ranked football programs, including the University of Alabama, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Georgia and the University of Mississippi.
The “Out of Bounds” campaign comes as voting rights advocates, across generations, are grappling with what they see as the latest blow to one of the most seminal victories of the nation’s Civil Rights Movement. The Voting Rights Act was enacted in 1965 to protect minority voters who long faced discrimination in elections. Last month, in a 6-3 ruling the Supreme Court held that the use of race to draw two majority-Black districts in Louisiana was an “unconstitutional racial gerrymander.”
The decision is already having ripple effects throughout the South. Within days, the Tennessee Legislature split up the state’s sole majority-Black and Democratically-held congressional district across three Republican electoral districts. Rep. Steve Cohen, a veteran Tennessee Democratic lawmaker, subsequently announced he was no longer running for re-election in the newly redrawn 9th Congressional District, saying the new maps “silenced the Black vote here in Memphis.” State senators in Louisiana have also passed legislation that would result in the loss of one of the state’s two majority-minority districts.
Republicans have praised the Supreme Court ruling ahead of this year’s midterms. But the Callais decision has set off a wave of backlash in the Southeast, where communities with a history of discrimination at the polls once had to seek pre-clearance from the federal government before changing their voting laws or creating new electoral maps. Over the weekend, thousands gathered in Alabama to protest the decision at the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma and in Montgomery.
During the Civil Rights Movement, universities in Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia saw some of the fiercest and most violent resistance to integration. Today, many of their athletics programs have diverse rosters.
The NAACP has said fans and alumni of “targeted programs” should redirect their financial support to historically Black colleges and universities, or HBCUs. The organization has also encouraged recruits to visit those campuses.
Among the NAACP’s demands is the adoption of state-level voting rights acts.
Before the campaign’s launch, people were already debating online about how much, if any, of the burden in responding to the states’ redistricting efforts should fall on Black athletes. Supporters have argued that any actions that put universities’ financial windfalls from athletics in jeopardy could be enough to move the needle.

“If athletes stop going to the Tennessees and the Louisianas, the top-tier athletes, ESPN and the presidents of schools, chambers of commerce would start having conversations,” Comedian D.L. Hughley said in a recent interview with The Tennessee Holler.
Almost all of the universities listed by the NAACP are Southeastern Conference schools. A spokesperson for the Southeastern Conference did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A federal officer shot Sosa-Celis in the thigh after he and another officer chased a different man to the apartment duplex where the man and Sosa-Celis lived. Moriarty said both Sosa-Celis and the other man were legally in the U.S.
Federal authorities initially accused Sosa-Celis and Alfredo Alejandro Aljorna of beating an officer with a broom handle and a snow shovel during the incident, but a federal judge later dismissed the charges and federal officials opened an investigation into whether two immigration officers lied under oath about what happened.

If they did wrong, well, they will be disciplined by the DOJ. A county prosecutors office has no power here. Those agents will not stand trial.

The FBI on Thursday said it is offering a $200,000 reward for information leading to the capture and prosecution of a former U.S. Air Force counterintelligence specialist who defected to Iran in 2013 and was later charged with revealing classified information to the Iranian regime.

In 2019, she was indicted by a grand jury in Washington on espionage charges, including transmitting national defense information to the Iranian regime, the FBI said.
After she defected, according to the indictment, she later provided information to Iran and put �sensitive and classified U.S. national defense information and programs� at risk, according to the statement.
The information she provided to the Iranian regime endangered American personnel and their families stationed abroad, the FBI said.
Witt is also accused of performing �research on behalf of the Iranian regime to allow them to target her former colleagues in the U.S. government,� the bureau added.
Iran�s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which has launched attacks on U.S. assets in the region and recently attacked commercial shipping vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, has benefited from her defection to Iran, it added.
�Monica Witt allegedly betrayed her oath to the Constitution more than a decade ago by defecting to Iran and providing the Iranian regime National Defense Information and likely continues to support their nefarious activities,� Daniel Wierzbicki, special agent in charge of the FBI Washington Field Office�s Counterintelligence and Cyber Division, said in a May 14 statement.
Even though she defected years ago, the special agent added that the FBI has �not forgotten and believes that during this critical moment in Iran�s history, there is someone who knows something about her whereabouts.�

Before that, Witt had been warned by the FBI about her activities, but she told agents that she would not provide sensitive information about her work if she returned to Iran, prosecutors said.
It wasn�t immediately known why the FBI was bringing attention to Witt�s case on May 14.
The United States and Iran have been at war since Feb. 28. Tehran recently submitted proposals to Washington to end the conflict, which were rejected by the United States. U.S. forces seized around 2,500 pounds of cocaine and 105 pounds of marijuana in two separate maritime operations involving foreign nations.

In one operation, the Joint Interagency Task Force (JIATF) South and the Drug Enforcement Administration identified a drug runner from Colombia transporting narcotics. Forces from the Dominican Republic interdicted the vessel, while USS Billing secured the jettisoned cargo, JIATF South said in a May 12 post on X. Around 326 kilograms (approx. 718 pounds) of cocaine and 105 pounds of marijuana were prevented from entering American communities.
Earlier, in a May 7 X post, JIATF South said that forces from Panama intercepted a vessel near the city of Colon on May 1 under the guidance of the task force. The Panamanian forces fired warning shots, detained two smugglers, and took custody of 799 kilograms (approx. 1,761 pounds) of cocaine.
JIATF leverages its member nations� capabilities to identify and monitor drug trafficking activity in maritime and air domains. The task force aims to interdict and seize illicit narcotics to disrupt their shipments, and diminish or destroy the transnational criminal organizations running these activities.
In a May 5 statement, the United States Coast Guard said it had interdicted a drug vessel off the coast of Haiti together with the United States Navy, taking into custody roughly 3,200 pounds of marijuana valued at roughly $3.8 million. One person was taken into custody and transferred to Haitian authorities.
Eighty percent of �interdictions of U.S.-bound drugs occur at sea. This underscores the importance of maritime interdiction in combatting the flow of illegal narcotics and protecting American communities from this deadly threat,� the Coast Guard said.
�Detecting and interdicting illicit drug traffickers on the high seas involves significant interagency and international coordination.�

Other risks include stroke, seizure, bleeding in the brain, neurological problems, and Parkinson�s disease.
As for marijuana, short-term effects include anxiety, sleepiness, confusion, and an impaired ability to concentrate and remember. If marijuana is smoked, then blood vessels can be damaged. People may also hallucinate and suffer from paranoia, according to a March 2024 post by Health Canada.
Long-term effects include harm to memory, intelligence, and the ability to think and make decisions. The lungs may suffer from infections, bronchitis, and increased mucus buildup. Effects tend to be worse if marijuana use started during early adolescence.
The Trump administration has taken various legal actions against drug traffickers.
On May 13, the Drug Enforcement Administration announced that two illegal immigrants and two convicted felons were sentenced to prison for being part of an international drug trafficking and money laundering group whose operations stretched from Atlanta to Mexico.
The four accused were sentenced to prison terms ranging from five years and five months to 15 years.

Companies are making big bucks from immigration crackdowns
The exhibition hall of the annual Border Security Expo (BSE), held this month in Phoenix, Arizona, looked more like the set of a dystopian science-fiction film. Surveillance towers flashed brightly. Drones buzzed overhead. One company demonstrated a robotic dog designed to patrol borders. Another showed off a thermal camera that can detect movement kilometres away. On stage Tom Homan, President Donald Trump�s �border czar�, praised the technology firms in attendance for helping to build �the most secure border in history�.
As the bustling trade fair demonstrated, the business of immigration enforcement is booming. Right-wing populists�and incumbents seeking to fend them off�are spending more on monitoring borders, tracking down those who have entered the country illegally, then detaining and deporting them. In America, Congress has approved roughly $170bn in cumulative additional funding for immigration enforcement until 2029. Even the European Union is ratcheting up spending. That is benefiting not only incumbent outsourcers, but also a wave of startups hoping to bring new technologies to the industry.
Border control is an area of particular interest for newcomers. Much of that business has tended to flow to large defence contractors and established security firms. Yet agencies across America and Europe have been simplifying procurement rules and running pilot programmes to allow new products to be tested and deployed more quickly, luring in startups.
As a result, what was once a labour-intensive system of patrol agents, radios and vehicles is turning into a digital-surveillance network. Governments increasingly rely on drones, radars, heat-detecting cameras and the like to monitor vast swathes of territory in real time. Such technologies reduce risks for agents and free them up for higher-value work, according to Steven Willoughby, an official at America�s Department of Homeland Security. Instead of relying on agents scouring remote terrain, authorities can now monitor deserts and coastlines from centralised command centres.

Much of the new tech being used at borders was originally developed for warfare. Anduril, a drone-maker that recently raised $5bn at a $61bn valuation, has a $363m contract with the US Border Patrol for autonomous surveillance systems. Shield AI, a rival, has won a $198m contract with the US Coast Guard, and is also deploying its drones on European borders. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the controversial agency that tracks down illegal immigrants already in America, has come to rely on software provided by Palantir, a data-analytics firm embedded in the Pentagon.

He was charged with possession of a forged license plate, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, failure to stop for police, traffic offenses, and an outstanding warrant out of Natick District Court.
�The individual was processed through the normal criminal justice process and later released on bail,� Paster wrote.
�Prior to the individual�s release, federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents provided the Brookline Police Department with an immigration detainer. In compliance with Brookline Police policy the individual was advised of the notice and a copy was placed into his property,� Paster continued in the letter posted to the department�s Facebook page.

Another week, another vehicular attack on Europeans.

Modena, in Italy, was visited by a tragedy that is becoming very common: several people were injured when a car drove into pedestrians, according to police.

After hitting several people, the driver, a man in his 30s identified in social media as �Moroccan�, crashed into a shop window.

The he got out and stabbed a person trying to restrain him.

�The suspect, who was described as �highly intoxicated�, was subdued by bystanders and arrested by police. At least eight people were injured, with at least four left in critical condition, the authorities said.

A woman was reported to have lost her legs in the car ramming.

Luca Signorelli, a witness, told local media: �He [the driver] ran away. So, I chased him, and in the meantime, four or five other people followed me. He disappeared behind a pile of cars and then popped back out with a knife in his hand�.�

�Massimo Mezzetti, Modena�s mayor, said the driver was an Italian national born in Bergamo, of North African origin, and a resident of the Modena area. �We are trying to find out more details�, he added.

Mr. Mezzetti said: �It seems [the driver] deliberately drove onto the sidewalk, hitting several people and crashing into a shop window. He then got *out of his car and brandished a knife. Some citizens chased and captured the fugitive, handing him over to law enforcement. He was armed with a knife. It took courage and great civic sense. I thank them�.�
