The U.S. government is $40,068,807,991,924.84 in debt, and all of a sudden the rest of the world has become a lot more hesitant to lend us money. Bond prices are crashing and rates are spiking. For years, I warned that our politicians were borrowing and spending way too much money. But those politicians just kept voting for budgets with bigger and bigger deficits. Now we find ourselves in the middle of a financial nightmare with no way out. The same thing could be said about Japan and most nations in Europe. Globally, bond prices have been steadily plummeting as bond yields have skyrocketed. Unfortunately for all of us, financial institutions all over the planet are holding gigantic mountains of government bonds that have collapsed in value. The unrealized losses that they are potentially facing will be off the charts. Meanwhile, rapidly rising interest rates could set off an unprecedented derivatives implosion. At this point, the total notional amount outstanding for global over-the-counter interest rate derivatives is well over 600 trillion dollars.

As long as investors still had faith in the game, everything was going to be fine.
But now investors are losing faith in the U.S. government, the Japanese government and governments all over Europe, because they have been borrowing money at insanely reckless levels.
So now we have a massive crisis on our hands, and last week things really started to get out of hand.
In fact, last week was definitely “a week of pain” for financially irresponsible governments throughout the world…
This has been a week of pain for anyone who borrows money.
All over the world, lenders are demanding higher interest rates. The global bond market is extracting higher yields from every borrower, starting with the biggest borrowers of all: national governments. But not every government is paying equally.

Trustworthy borrowers with solid finances and honest leadership pay less. Distrusted borrowers with disordered finances and corrupt leaders pay more. In times past, the United States would have headed that first list.
In a previous article, I explained that historically when the yield on 10 year U.S. Treasuries hits 5.25 percent things start to get really crazy.
Well, late last week the yield on 10 year U.S. Treasuries was hovering around 5.2 percent…
In trading yesterday, the yield on a U.S. 10-year Treasury bond hovered near 5.2 percent. Germany pays less than the United States. France pays less than the United States. Canada pays less than the United States. Even Greece pays less than the United States. Estonia—a country under constant threat of a Russian invasion and the annihilation of its sovereignty—pays much less than the United States: only 3.6 percent.
We were only going to be able to play this game for so long.

I don’t know why this was so difficult for so many of the “experts” to understand.
At one point on Friday, the yield on 10 year U.S. Treasuries reached 5.23 percent, which was the highest that we have seen since just before the last global financial crisis…
Investors were rattled this week as the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield soared to its highest level since 2007, but sticky inflation is just one of the factors behind this latest surge.
The key 10-year Treasury yield, which influences mortgages, leapt to 5.23% on Friday for its highest level since 2007. It was the latest leg higher for the benchmark yield, which earlier this month was trading just below 4.8%. Bond yields and prices move inversely to one another.
This is what a bond market collapse looks like, and we are still only in the early stages.
On X, one popular account warned that most people have “no idea what is about to happen”…



The era of easy money is over, and that is really bad news for all of us.
John Roque has pointed out that there have been 16 times throughout history when bond yields have spiked like this. Every single time, it has resulted in some sort of a financial crisis…
“Something always breaks,” proclaimed a recent note from John Roque, head of technical analysis at 22V Research.
Roque pointed out on a chart of the 10-year Treasury yield going back the last five decades 16 instances where it experienced a rapid advance like it is now. During each and every move, some sort of financial calamity resulted. While the scale of the crises varied in their market impact (from the jarring-but-short-lived Silicon Valley Bank failure of 2023 to the 1987 stock market crash), the jump in yields almost always led to some sort of disruption to financial markets that weighed on risk assets.
“As sure as day follows night, when the 10-year Treasury yield rises, something gets knocked out,” Roque remarked to CNBC. “It just pays to be cautious.”
Personally, I am very concerned about what all of this is going to mean for the stock market.
Stock prices are currently at a level that we have only witnessed “three times over the last 156 years”…
Currently, we’re witnessing the stock market do something that’s only been accomplished three times over the last 156 years. When this signal appears, it has consistently foreshadowed significant declines to come for Wall Street.
What goes up must come down.
Every time the CAPE Ratio has been this high, a bear market has followed…
Economists introduced the CAPE Ratio in the late 1980s and have backtested it as far back as January 1871. Over this roughly 156-year stretch, the average multiple is 17.42. As of the closing bell on Sept. 21, the S&P 500’s CAPE Ratio clocked in at 41.60.
Including the present, there have only been three times, spanning 156 years, in which the S&P 500’s Shiller P/E Ratio has topped 40 — and the previous two occurrences were followed by notable bear markets
The bottom line is that we are perfectly primed for a stock market crash, and signs of trouble are already apparent.
The performance of just a handful of tech stocks has been masking some very alarming developments that have been happening under the surface. At this point, 52 percent of all stocks in the S&P 500 are already trading beneath their 200 day moving averages…
The S&P 500’s latest trip back to near-record territory has been powered by a surprisingly small number of stocks.
As of Tuesday’s close, the S&P 500 was only 0.44% shy of a record closing high, and yet 52% of individual member stocks were trading below their long-term 200-day moving averages. This is a reflection of the fact that a handful of stocks, chiefly hyperscalers like Meta and semiconductor stocks like Micron Technology, have been doing much of the heavy lifting lately.
That is a major red flag.
In fact, there are major red flags all around us.
And now we are entering the pivotal month of October when some of the largest stock market crashes throughout history have occurred.
Historically, bonds normally start crashing before stocks do.
That exact same pattern is playing out right in front of our eyes in the fall of 2026.
If it was just the U.S. that was in trouble, that would be bad enough.
But what we are looking at is a truly global debt crisis.
This moment has been coming for a very long time, and the entire world is going to be stunned by what happens next.

Why Is Germany Suddenly Forcing All 18-Year-Old Men To Take Mandatory Military Medical Exams?

It appears that Germany is quite serious about getting ready for a war with Russia. Every 18-year-old in Germany is being sent a questionnaire that asks them if they are interested in joining the German military. Responding to the questionnaire is voluntary for women, but it is mandatory for men. For a nation that relentlessly preaches “equality” among the sexes, that seems rather odd. Men that indicate that they have zero interest in joining the German military are not off the hook. Under an ominous new law, all 18-year-old men in Germany must report for mandatory military medical exams to evaluate their fitness for military service.
I realize that this sounds like something out of a dystopian novel.
But this is actually happening.
The German military has confirmed that “all men liable for military service who were born after 31 December 2007” must undergo mandatory military medical exams…
A spokesperson for the Defence Ministry told the BBC that under the law, the obligation to undergo a medical examination applies “to all men liable for military service who were born after 31 December 2007”.
This also applies to people who have stated that they have no interest in compulsory military service. The spokesperson said that since July around 1,000 18-year-old men, who showed no interest in the army, have had the medical exam.
If this was happening in the U.S., there would be massive protests.

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that massive student protests have erupted in Germany.
A wave of anger erupted after a number of 18-year-old German men were ordered to report for their mandatory military medical exams “even though they expressed no interest in joining the army on their registration forms”…
The questionnaire is mandatory for men and voluntary for women. All 18-year-old men will have to take a medical exam to assess their fitness for possible military service.
The organisers of the protests, say the trigger came after some 18-year-olds in the northern German towns of Kiel and Flensburg, were sent official invitations for medical exams, even though they expressed no interest in joining the army on their registration forms.
I can understand why they are so upset.

I wouldn’t want to be used as cannon fodder by the European elite either.
On Friday, a total of over 45,000 students walked out of school in more than 100 different cities to protest what the German government is doing…

The School Strike Against Conscription initiative said demonstrations took place in more than 100 cities after the German Defense Ministry began calling in 18-year-old men for medical screening. Organizers said hundreds of young men who marked 0 out of 10 for interest in military service were also summoned.
Many of these kids are afraid that they are going to be sent to die on the killing fields of eastern Ukraine.

Tensions between Germany and Russia have greatly escalated over the past few months, and they haven’t been this high since the end of World War II.
Of course if our European allies end up sending ground forces into Ukraine, that will mean all-out war with the Russians.
Speaking about such a scenario, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov recently indicated that such a conflict would be “very short”…

There should be no doubt about that.
They have been preparing for a nuclear war with the western world for a long time, and they possess a vast underground facility in the Ural Mountains that would serve as a command center in the event of a full-blown nuclear exchange…

Meanwhile, there have been some very alarming developments in the UK.
On Sunday, five suspected terrorists were arrested for making preparations to bomb a base in the UK that the U.S. has been using to strike Iran…
British cops on Sunday arrested five suspected terrorists accused of plotting a van bombing attack at a UK military base used by the US Air Force for its strikes on Iran.
Dramatic pictures show the suspects being held at gunpoint while stripped to the waist, after officers suspected they may have been wearing suicide vests for their alleged plot, according to reports.
It appears that the attack that they were planning was imminent, and authorities were able to recover “chemicals and suspected explosive devices” that the terrorists had in their possession…
A bomb disposal robot was later seen moving between three vans after chemicals and suspected explosive devices were found during the operation at Royal Air Force Fairford in Gloucestershire, Southwest England, the UK Sun reported.
Were these terrorists just doing this on their own, or were they working with someone?
At this stage, authorities are attempting to determine if there is any link to Iran…
Counter-terrorism police are investigating whether Iran was behind a suspected bomb plot targeting the RAF Fairford base which is used by the US Air Forces. Five men have been arrested on suspicion of explosive and terrorism offences this morning, September 27.
Three “suspicious vehicles” travelling towards RAF Fairford were reported to police at about 12.45am on Sunday, Gloucestershire police said, with the report prompting a large emergency response. Five men were arrested by armed officers in the Whelford area under suspicion of committing offences under the Explosives Act. They were then further arrested under suspicion of preparation of a terrorist act, the force said in an update issued at approximately 2pm.
I have a feeling that those terrorists are linked to Iran in some way.
Hopefully we will get more details in the coming hours.
The Iranians keep telling us that they want peace, but Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also just admitted to NBC News that his country is prepared to fight a “doomsday war” with the United States…
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Sunday that his country is ready for a “doomsday” war with the U.S., but that he is leaving diplomacy on the table so as not to “miss any chance for peace.”
Araghchi made the comments during an appearance on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” following last week’s United Nations General Assembly. The U.S. and Iran have been locked in an on-again, off-again war since Feb. 28, which has caused a global oil shock that has spiked gas prices and fanned the flames of inflation.
“If you ask us, there is no reason why we should go back to diplomacy, but I am still trying diplomacy because I think we shouldn’t miss any chance for peace,” Araghchi said. “We are ready to negotiate as much as we are ready to face any challenge … We stand firm in the face of any aggression against us, even if it comes to a doomsday war.”
I wish that I could ask him a couple of questions.
Number one, what does he think a “doomsday war” with the United States would look like?
Number two, does his statement imply that Iran possesses “doomsday weapons” that would be used in such a “doomsday war”?
Sadly, the Iranians are not taking steps to reduce hostilities.
Instead, they just greatly escalated matters.
It is being reported that Iran just attacked 19 ships in a period of just 48 hours…
Hostilities in the narrow strait continued for a second night, according to Bloomberg, citing reports from the semi-official Fars news agency that Iranian armed forces had targeted 19 ships attempting to use authorized routes in the waterway over the preceding 48 hours.
It appears that the conflict in the Middle East will soon go to an entirely new level.
The same thing could be said about the conflict with Russia.
We are literally watching World War III play out right in front of our eyes, but most of the hundreds of millions of people that are living in comfort in the western world still don’t get it.
However, I do think that the seriousness of what we are facing is starting to sink in for 18-year-old men in Germany.
Receiving a notice to report for a mandatory military medical exam in the mail is quite a wake up call.
I just wish that the majority of the western world was awake, because global events could soon spiral completely out of control.

France: 93-Year-Old Woman Murdered: Illegal Migrant Charged

In Toulouse, a 93-year-old handicapped woman has been found murdered in her home. Arrested by police at the scene was a 30-year-old man, who was nude and in a dazed state. He is not further identified but is reportedly in France illegally. An officer was injured during the arrest.

"This is a flagrant crime with the arrest of a suspect." David Charmatz, the Prosecutor of Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), announces on Sunday that a 93-year-old handicapped woman was found dead in her residence. She lived in a small house located behind the Bourbaki housing project, reports La Dépêche.
Hearing shouts and insults, the neighbors alerted police. A 30-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
According to our colleagues, this individual was illegally in the country. Neighbors quoted by La Dépêche claim that he was nude and in a dazed state when law enforcement arrived.
During the arrest, the man injured an officer, stated David Charmatz. The officer was struck in the shoulder.
A homicide investigation has been opened, the regional daily states. Other violations may be revealed. The investigators from the Judicial Police are leading the investigation.

Shabana Mahmood is to announce a new legal route for vulnerable refugees that will fast-track them to permanent settlement in the UK.
The Home Secretary will use her speech to the Labour Party conference on Monday to announce that she will reopen the UK resettlement scheme.
The scheme is targeted at the most vulnerable refugees, such as women and girls in Afghanistan, Palestinians with critical medical needs and victims of torture.

They will be entitled to immediate indefinite leave to remain – unlike other refugees whose status is reviewed every 30 months – effectively putting them on a fast track to settlement and citizenship.
The move will be seen as an attempt by Ms Mahmood to win over critics of her approach to immigration amid a rebellion against her plans to force migrant workers and other asylum seekers to wait longer for the right to settle in the UK.
The Home Secretary will say that a tougher migration system, combined with a new scheme for the most vulnerable, will ensure that there is still broad support for helping refugees.

“Fairness is what unites us in this country. A fair society is what unlocks the very best of us. Because when people think this country is fair, they are more open and generous to others. When this country feels unfair, people turn inwards. They grow less willing to tolerate difference, she will say.

“I know the British people have not given up on their belief that we should be compassionate, live up to our international obligations and save the lives of those fleeing war and persecution. But I also know this process must be capped and controlled, and communities must be ready and able to welcome those who come here.
“This is what we can do and who we can be as we restore control to our borders, bear down on the small boat crossings, and unlock the inherent generosity of this country.”
The Home Office expects about one in four arrivals under the UK resettlement scheme, which was frozen two years ago, to be Afghan women and girls and Palestinian refugees.
The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) identifies the most vulnerable refugees globally and refers them to the UK government.
The numbers will initially be very small and capped each year, which critics are likely to argue will be insufficient to act as a deterrent to small boat crossings. Potential refugees will also have to undergo rigorous security and criminality checks.

Bring to UK from conflict zones

Ms Mahmood will also announce the formal opening of a Ukrainian-style sponsorship scheme for households and communities to bring thousands of refugees to the UK from conflict zones around the world.
There will be an annual cap on numbers through the “named sponsorship” scheme, which will be modelled on Canada’s community sponsorship scheme. This allows people to privately sponsor refugees by committing to providing financial, emotional and settlement support for an initial 12 months after a refugee arrives in the country.
It will be similar to the Homes for Ukraine programme that was introduced following Russia’s invasion in 2022, enabling households to sponsor Ukrainian refugees to come to the UK on temporary visas.
The scheme sponsored more than 200,000 Ukrainians and is viewed by Home Office officials as a better model than the existing community sponsorship scheme which resettled just 1,034 refugees between 2016 and 2023.

The scheme will resettle refugees who are fleeing their country because of conflict, famine, drought and other disasters and are referred to the UK by the UNHCR.
Refugees likely to be prioritised under the scheme will be those identified as most in need from countries such as Sudan and Eritrea, whose citizens account for the largest number of small boat arrivals.

A top Hamas bodyguard was secretly plotting a terror attack against European Jews from inside of the United Kingdom, right under the noses of British intelligence, The Sunday Times reported.
The operative, known in the article only as “Mr. X” for legal reasons, secured asylum and lived as a British citizen for more than a decade, where authorities say he plotted an attack to coincide with the second anniversary of the Oct. 7 massacre in Israel, the report said.

Mr. X, a married father in his forties, was the former bodyguard to Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas in Gaza, who went on to become chairman of its political bureau.
“At the time he was awarded refugee status, it was public knowledge that he had worked for Haniyeh, was the son of another senior Hamas official, and had been arrested in Egypt for operating a tunnel allegedly used to smuggle firearms and gold into Gaza,” the report said. “Yet Mr. X was granted sanctuary and apparently able to operate under deep cover as an IT consultant living in the suburbs of a large English city.”
The Times reported that Mr. X “is not thought to have been a priority for the British security services as he began co-ordinating with Hamas terrorists on the Continent.”
“National Crime Agency (NCA) officers arrested Mr. X in central London last November after Mossad and Germany’s security and intelligence services learnt of the planned attack,” the report said. “Berlin worked with partners in Austria, Denmark and the UK to detain seven suspects and gather weapons including an AK47 assault rifle. Mr. X is accused of transporting weapons including handguns and live ammunition to a storage facility in Vienna, according to a German indictment.”

Mr. X now faces extradition to Germany “where he is accused of being a leading figure in a plot to attack Jewish community centres, Israeli diplomats and pro-Israel demonstrations there or in neighbouring Austria last October,” the report said.
The report added, “The Home Office, MI5 and MI6 are likely to face questions as to how Mr X was able to build his life in Britain, and whether his recent activities were being monitored.”

Since the 2024 election, Democratic congressional candidates have reached a consensus about how to broadly discuss the border — make it secure — but they still lack a cohesive message about ICE.
Some advocate abolishing the agency, while others offer visions for how to rein it in and reform it.

Meanwhile, for Republicans, President Trump’s immigration policies have offered a win on one issue (the border) while creating another issue that many voters find troubling (violence during raids).
Some battleground Republicans are distancing themselves from Trump and have shifted from talking about mass deportations to emphasizing deporting criminals.
Most voters don’t care more about immigration than the cost of living. But it remains an important issue, and for both Republicans and Democrats, the balance in messaging about immigration is delicate, as about half of Americans see the administration’s tactics against immigrants as too aggressive.
As the Nov. 3 midterms approach, Democratic candidates in various states including Illinois, Minnesota and New Jersey have said Immigration and Customs Enforcement should be abolished. In Michigan, progressive Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed has said as much — and taken aim at fellow party members.

“The idea that somehow we can’t say ‘abolish ICE’ because we’re so afraid of what they’re going to say, when we’ve seen ICE terrorize people in our streets,” he said before Michigan’s Senate primary in July. “To me, it is exactly the kind of cowardice that we don’t need from Democrats.”
The Democratic dilemma was crystallized last month when Democratic National Committee members approved dueling messages — one to abolish ICE, the other to reform it.
Among those in the reform camp is Randy Villegas, the political science professor running against Rep. David Valadao (R-Hanford) in California’s Central Valley.

Villegas is in favor of a pathway to citizenship for longtime immigrants as well as a secure border. He’s called for ending the use of for-profit detention facilities and prosecuting ICE agents who engage in illegal conduct.
It’s a personal issue too. Villegas is the son of immigrants from Mexico, and, according to a 2021 NPR story, his brother is a DACA recipient, granted protection under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. He said the constituents of the mostly rural 22nd District deserve a representative who understands the effects of the broken immigration system; he recalls his mother being unable to visit her sister when she was dying of cancer.

“Kern County was ground zero for these ICE raids last year. What did Valadao do or say about it? Absolutely nothing. This is somebody who likes to pretend they’re a moderate on immigration. He voted to triple ICE’s budget,” Villegas said in an interview, noting that he organized a local workshop with immigration attorneys.
After the raids, led by Customs and Border Protection agents who were reported to have gone “rogue” weeks before President Biden left office, Valadao released a statement saying he had spoken to agency officials and urged them to target “criminals rather than those responsible for producing our nation’s food supply.”
Valadao, a dairy farmer and the son of immigrants from the Azores islands of Portugal, says on his campaign website that he supports a “reasonable and responsible” pathway to citizenship, a guest worker program that could stabilize the agricultural workforce and a focus on removing immigrants who have committed serious crimes.

Last year, he sponsored the Dignity Act, a bipartisan bill that would create a new temporary legal status for immigrants who meet certain requirements and pass a criminal background check.
Valadao declined an interview request but said in a statement that “our immigration system is broken after decades of inaction, and it’s critical that we restore law and order while recognizing the contributions of people who have lived and worked peacefully in our communities for years.”
In Texas, Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico frequently has said that the southern border should be treated “like our front porch,” with a welcome mat and a lock on the door.
Talarico says immigration enforcement is necessary but that resources should be refocused to target cartels, gang members and human traffickers. As for ICE, he said the government should “tear down this secret police force and replace it with an agency that is actually going to focus on public safety.”

Centrist Democratic strategists said Talarico’s messaging strikes the right tone for swing voters.
During the Biden administration, voters lost trust with Democrats on immigration and border security, said Sarah Pierce, a former U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services official who leads immigration work at the center-left think tank Third Way. That needs to stay top of mind for Democratic candidates, she said.

“Americans don’t trust that Democrats are even willing to enforce immigration laws, so obviously there’s a lot of pressure on the party to rectify that,” Pierce said. “At the same time, this is the most anti-immigrant administration we’ve had in history.”
Talarico’s opponent, Texas Atty. Gen. Ken Paxton, touts Trump’s hard-line immigration policies and has made border security a key part of his campaign.
Paxton also believes states should work with the federal government on immigration enforcement. This year, his office conducted raids in Houston and transferred 50 immigrants to ICE custody.

Matt Terrill, a Republican strategist who was chief of staff for then-Sen. Marco Rubio’s 2016 presidential campaign, said Republican candidates need Trump to turn out the GOP base so they retain control of Congress.
Some Republican candidates are conveying a more nuanced message, but it might not matter to voters who already feel betrayed by Trump. That’s the assessment of Matthew Dallek, a political historian at George Washington University who studies Republican and Homeland Security politics.

“A lot of Republican candidates are struggling to figure out a message on what had been a great political strength that has turned into a major liability,” Dallek said. “Different Republicans are giving different answers to try to appeal to the Latino vote, maybe to independents, to voters who might typically vote Republican and support closed borders, but think that ICE has gone too far.”
Many Republican candidates aren’t avoiding immigration. A Third Way analysis of last month’s spending on immigration-related ads in competitive House and Senate races found that Republicans had spent more than $50 million — five times more than Democrats.
At issue, however, is the messaging. Earlier this year, White House officials and House Republican leaders reportedly told their members to avoid talking about “mass deportations” and talk up removing criminals.

Rep. Gabe Evans, who is running for reelection in Colorado, described the distinction as “gangbangers, not grandmas.”
At the Republican National Convention in 2024, Rep. Monica De La Cruz (R-Texas) denounced “open borders” before a crowd waving signs reading “mass deportation now!”
As the Trump administration’s enforcement campaign took shape, however, she signed a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson calling on ICE to focus its resources on arresting immigrants with criminal records, and in March she intervened after local high school mariachi performers were detained.
This month, De La Cruz released a campaign ad, featuring the wife of a DACA recipient who was detained this year by ICE. The wife said that she had voted for Democrats before, “but Monica puts people over politics.”
A representative for De La Cruz did not respond to requests for comment.

Her opponent, Tejano musician Bobby Pulido, said he doesn’t like talking in absolute terms like abolishing ICE. But without the historic funding approved by Republicans this year, the agency would have been prevented from continuing what he sees as bad policy on humanitarian and economic levels.
But Pulido also says that the Biden administration waited too long to impose border restrictions.
“It feels like it went from ‘let ‘em all in’ to ‘kick ‘em all out,’” he said in an interview. “I don’t think that either one is good. We need immigrants, but everybody always says do it the legal way. We have to actually legislate pathways for that to happen.”
One Republican has directly broken with Trump in her bid for reelection. In a campaign ad released Sept. 17, Florida Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar, standing in front of the White House, speaks directly to the president. “The same Hispanics who helped you get to the White House in 2024 feel betrayed today,” she said.

Polling shows that many in that district, where Latinos make up three-quarters of registered voters and more than half were born outside the U.S., now think Trump’s immigration crackdown has gone too far. Polls also show Salazar is deadlocked with her opponent, Eliott Rodriguez, a fellow Cuban American and newscaster who fired back at her for voting in favor of Trump’s policies.

Seriously, this headline from the UK Guardian is reminiscent of wacko full moonbat bloggers during the Buuuuuuush admin (if they could even write his name, it was often like *ush), utterly hyperventilating, not a high end news outlet (which does admit they are leftists).

In latest blow to Obamacare, Trump is threatening the entire US health system



The Trump Administration is removing 760,000 people enrolled in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace on allegations of fraud, officials said on Tuesday – adding to previous efforts to chip away at federally subsidized insurance programs and likely causing some of the lowest-income Americans to forego healthcare, experts said.

The US government is also investigating about 420,000 people whom they suspect of fraud, and they are putting a six-month enrollment moratorium on new agents and brokers selling Obamacare policies, officials said at a press conference.

The removed enrollees are a mixture of “phantoms” and “ghosts” as well as people who don’t meet the eligibility requirements of Obamacare, said Mehmet Oz, the administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Um, yeah, looks like they shouldn’t be on Ocare, and fraud means money diverted from people who actually need it. But, apparently, this is Bad in Liberal World.

“These are not real people,” he said, claiming that expelling them from the ACA marketplace would save the federal government $2.2bn.

That could go a long way towards helping real people, right? Oh, wait, sorry, Orange Man Bad.

“There’s no transparency about who these people are and why they’re being disenrolled, but I think it’s a reasonable concern that some number are being disenrolled inappropriately,” said Edwin Park, a research professor at the Center for Children and Families at Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy. “A common theme here is to make it incredibly burdensome for individuals to enroll and stay enrolled in their health coverage.”

He has zero proof, but, hey, why not give him time because Orange Man Bad.

Officials followed an unusual path to verify ACA enrollment, experts said. The administration sent to insurers a list of more than a million people suspected of being fraudulently enrolled in the ACA marketplace, also known as Obamacare.

Officials said on Tuesday that they used AI tools to identify the enrollees.

The people were identified by three factors: They’d been enrolled by a broker or agent, had all of their ACA premium paid by the tax credit, and they had not supplied social security numbers or immigration documents.

Um, aliens, legal or not, are not supposed to get Ocare.

These disenrollments are happening in the context of major cuts to the marketplace. Premiums skyrocketed, doubling or tripling for some enrollees, after Republicans opposed extending the enhanced tax credits at the end of last year. Alongside other financial pressures, like higher energy and food costs, “there’s going to be an increasing number of people who can no longer afford their share of the premium”, Park said.

So, what you’re saying is that Ocare failed to bend the curve, and, in fact, increased costs all around? Huh. Sorry, Orange Man Bad.

The Trump administration is firing back at a viral report by the Daily Wire that ICE would be standing down on deportations of illegal aliens.

The Daily Wire's Jennie Taer reported in a "scoop" that ICE officers were told they would not be arresting illegal aliens that were not "criminals" with additional offenses besides illegally entering the country.

The Daily Wire cited sources and published quotes on the condition of anonymity. The publication said that "several ICE officers expressed frustration with the seemingly sudden change, and one suggested it may be an attempt to gain public favor before the midterms."

“We believe it has something to do with the midterms coming up,” one source said. “They’re trying to calm things down before the elections.”

“We’ll see the arrest numbers go down,” another source added.

The Department of Homeland Security flatly called this "false."

Whether or not this was an "op" to demoralize Republican voters ahead of the midterms, as some armchair pundits on X have claimed, DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin is under scrutiny for several announcements that have drawn the ire of conservatives.

On Friday, Mullin made an announcement that ICE would not be conducting raids on worksites in Kansas.

So, regardless of any campaign season attempt to divide the Republican base and to drive down voter enthusiasm over one of Trump's popular policies among conservatives, illegal alien deportations, the messaging from the top tier of DHS has left something to be desired among that core constituency.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin has faced repeated questions about his handling of the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown, including from immigration hardliners who argue that he has been too willing to retreat from aggressive enforcement.

Those tensions intensified after the White House withdrew Lance Schroyer, Mullin’s choice to lead ICE, according to the New York Times. An ICE source also questioned whether President Trump had been informed before agency leadership moved to halt certain non-criminal arrests.

It was not the first time Trump and his DHS leadership appeared to be out of sync on enforcement. In July, Mullin temporarily restricted ICE vehicle stops following fatal encounters involving ICE officers in Houston and Biddeford, Maine.

The decision triggered an immediate backlash from immigration hardliners and prominent Trump supporters. Trump quickly intervened, publicly ordering ICE to resume the stops and declaring that the agency could not surrender one of its “most important and effective” enforcement tools.

The episodes have contributed to a broader revolt against Mullin among some of the administration’s immigration hawks. Critics including Steve Bannon, Laura Loomer, Robby Starbuck and former Border Patrol official Gregory Bovino have accused Mullin of taking an overly conciliatory approach, particularly after he discussed expanding some employment-based visa programs to address labor shortages.

Mullin responded by insisting there would be “NO amnesty for illegal aliens” and that people illegally present in the country would be detained and deported.

The White House has publicly rejected suggestions that Mullin has lost Trump’s confidence, while DHS has pointed to sharply increased arrests, detention and deportations as evidence that the administration’s enforcement agenda remains intact.

But the repeated disputes have raised a larger question about who is setting enforcement policy inside DHS and whether decisions to pull back certain ICE operations are being made with Trump’s knowledge. As one ICE source put it after the latest controversy: “I hope Trump finds out about this sh*t and puts an end to it.”

A massive five- day ICE operation that netted 426 arrests across Indiana is fueling Hoosier Sen. Jim Banks’ push for Congress to cement President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown into law before a future administration can reverse course.
Banks hailed "Operation Safe Community: Indiana" in a Fox News Digital interview this week after federal immigration officers fanned out across his home state from Aug. 30 through Sept. 3, arresting 426 people with records involving sex crimes, assault, domestic violence, drug trafficking and weapons offenses, according to ICE.

"This is why Donald Trump was elected in 2024: for mass deportation," Banks told Fox News Digital. "It was one of his key agenda items during the campaign. And in this case in Indiana, you see the direct result of it."
ICE also credited cooperation with state and local law enforcement agencies in carrying out the operation, something Republicans have flagged as a key aspect to successful enforcement.
But Banks argued the operation also underscores a limitation of Trump’s crackdown: aggressive executive enforcement today does not guarantee that the same immigration policies survive the next administration.

"It is important that we codify Trump border security measures and tough-on-immigration policies and make them the law of the land," he said.
The busts build on the lawmaker’s seven-bill immigration package, previously reported by Fox News Digital, which targets issues including birthright citizenship, family-based immigration, H-1B visas, noncitizens’ CDLs and congressional authority over Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to limit judicial intervention.

"If this could happen in Indiana, it could happen anywhere," he added, arguing that the opposition has made it tougher to achieve immigration goals after displacing ICE from the 2025 immigration appropriations legislation.
"They've made that one of their biggest priorities in this Congress to defund our federal law enforcement, to stop ICE from doing their job, to deport violent criminals who are here illegally," he said.

Banks also directed his frustration at his own party, criticizing the Republican-led Senate for failing to advance separate election legislation that he says should be another priority.
Many on the right have pressed for passage of the SAVE Act, a bill requiring documentary proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections.
"That’s one of my biggest disappointments with this Republican Senate – we haven’t passed [it]," he said.
"I hope by the end of the year that we can find a way to pass it. I'm going to keep fighting for it, but at the end of the day, the Trump administration and the Department of Justice is doing a lot crack down on illegals voting in our elections."
In a separate Indiana case, DHS arrested an illegal immigrant on Sept. 18 who had entered the U.S. during the Obama administration and later cast a federal ballot.

ICE Enforcement Division Assistant Director Patricia Hyde said the right to vote is the "cornerstone of democracy" in announcing the capture of Guatemalan national Helda Mendez-Merida for "poisoning our elections."
"We cannot allow that sacred right [to vote] to be perverted," she said.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., has repeatedly pushed back on criticism he is not working hard enough to pass the SAVE Act or advance the Trump agenda.

Thune previously told Fox News Digital that he is an original co-sponsor of a previous version of the bill and that the 50-vote threshold needed to pass provisions that qualify for the parliamentary maneuver known as reconciliation remains a sticking point.
"I keep asking the question, am I the only one in this town that can count to 50? Because it seems like these questions recur and there are a lot of people out there who haven't seemed to internalize the fact that there aren't Democrats that are going to flip and vote for this," Thune said.

New data reveals accelerating autism diagnoses and widening disparities across California

California's autism rates have surged dramatically among children born in the mid-2010s, with the steepest increases concentrated among Black and Hispanic children in lower-income counties, according to a new study published Sept. 24 in Sage Open Medicine. Researchers analyzing two decades of California Department of Developmental Services data identified a striking "changepoint" in 2016, when autism diagnoses began climbing much more rapidly and unevenly across racial and socioeconomic lines. The findings raise urgent questions about the drivers of what researchers called "a pressing public health concern" as rates approach unprecedented levels.
The changepoint: 2016

Researchers Cynthia Nevison of Rutgers University and Walter Zahorodny examined autism cases recorded between 1993 and 2020 across California's 36 most populous counties, breaking down data by Asian, Hispanic, Black and white populations. They found autism prevalence surged statewide over the past decade, but a clear acceleration began with children born in 2016.
For children born between 2000 and 2014, autism rates in lower-income counties had been rising among both white and Hispanic children. After 2015, that rate accelerated sharply. By 2020, autism prevalence reached an estimated 8.7% for white children in lower-income Butte County and 4.9% for Hispanic children in Fresno and Tulare counties.
The timing of the changepoint is notable. California Senate Bill 277 took effect Jan. 1, 2016, eliminating personal belief and religious exemptions for school and childcare immunization requirements. Children's Health Defense Chief Scientific Officer Brian Hooker said that corresponds directly to the changepoint identified in the study.
Racial disparities widen dramatically

Black children experienced consistently higher autism prevalence than white, Asian and Hispanic children across the nine counties with sufficient data for analysis. Among Black children in Los Angeles County born in 2019, the autism rate approached 9.5%. It reached roughly 8% in Sacramento, Fresno and Kern counties, and approximately 6-7% in Orange and San Diego counties.
Statewide, DDS data shows for children born in 2019, autism rates were highest among Black children at 6.0%, followed by Hispanic children at 3.4%, Asian children at 3.0% and white children at 2.7%. The race and ethnicity disparities widened for the youngest children studied.
The data supports anecdotal evidence from California teachers who report worsening situations in autism learning centers in public schools, according to Nevison. Teachers report more students exhibiting challenging behaviors, teacher burnout and resulting staffing issues.
California leads nation, but undercounts may mask true scope

California consistently records the highest autism rates among all U.S. locations tracked by the CDC's Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network. In the most recent ADDM report, California reported autism rates of 5.31% in 8-year-olds born in 2014, and 6.06% in 4-year-olds born in 2018.
However, the new study suggests California's DDS data may identify only about half of all autism cases, significantly underestimating the true scope. The ADDM network, which tracks autism rates at 16 sites nationwide, found a mean ASD prevalence of 3.2% among 8-year-olds born in 2014 nationally. Maryland recorded the lowest rates at 2.3%, while California led at 4.5%.
Walter Zahorodny, coauthor of the Rutgers study and director of the New Jersey Autism Study, noted that California's figures are drawn from areas with aggressive screening programs that may produce more accurate counts than other states. "The true rate may not be substantially different between California and other ADDM states," he said previously. "What's different is that California implemented some wide-ranging screening and intervention programs."
Questions linger on what drives the rise

Researchers increasingly agree that autism results from a complex interaction of genetic factors and early environmental insults, including neuroinflammation, immune dysregulation and oxidative stress during critical stages of neurodevelopment. Yet the specific causes driving the continued increase remain unclear.
The CDC's most recent reports did not delve into reasons behind the continued rise. CDC epidemiologist Kelly Shaw suggested increased access to evaluations and diagnoses might explain some of the increase but acknowledged that explanation is incomplete.
Two multi-million dollar studies in California found that better awareness, changes in diagnostic criteria and earlier age of diagnosis explained only a small fraction of the rise. Those researchers called for greater emphasis on investigating potential toxicants that might be driving the increase.
The recent California study did not address possible causes but concluded that "understanding the factors driving diagnosed ASD prevalence up to the high levels reported in this study is a pressing public health concern."
A growing challenge with no end in sight

The data shows no sign of autism rates leveling off, with the most severe increases occurring among populations least able to access supportive resources. As Nevison noted, "ASD prevalence is growing and increasingly the students who are most severely affected are those whose families are least able to cope or afford nutritious food and other health-promoting therapies."
Once considered a rare disorder, autism now affects such a significant portion of children that researchers question whether the health care and educational infrastructure can keep pace. The question of what is driving the increase remains unanswered, but the evidence is clear: the rates are climbing faster than ever, and the burden is falling heaviest on communities with the fewest resources.

EXCLUSIVE: Black bishop and author Earl Walker Jackson blasted Democrats and the left over what he called the "deeply insulting" and "deeply offensive" claim that minorities and African Americans cannot get I.D.s to vote.
Debate erupted this week over voter I.D. requirements after Reuters reported that an investigation found 30,000 noncitizens were "erroneously" registered to vote in 11 states. Jackson, a nondenominational Christian leader and descendant of enslaved ancestors, said the findings underscored what he described as a growing problem of noncitizen voting that disenfranchises American citizens.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Jackson charged, "Why the Democrats are so committed to this can only be explained one way: they think it empowers people who shouldn't vote to vote, and they believe those people are going to vote for them."
"This is nothing but a power grab," he posited, emphasizing that "every vote by a noncitizen does in fact cancel out the vote of an American citizen, or it amplifies it in a way that's illegal or inappropriate."

Reuters reported on Wednesday that more than 30,000 self-declared noncitizens were added to U.S. voter rolls since 2000.

The outlet attributed the erroneous registrations to "software glitches and clerical errors" and said its review suggested "inadvertent bureaucratic failures, *rather than organized efforts to register immigrants illegally." Reuters said it was unable to determine how many noncitizens actually cast ballots.

The errors occurred in California, Illinois, Iowa, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Virginia.
Don Palmer, the senior legal fellow for election integrity with the Heritage Foundation, told Fox News Digital that due to legal loopholes and loose reporting requirements, he believes the 30,000 number "is actually quite low."

"I think it's undercounting it. I think those are the identified non-citizens that have been accidentally or erroneously placed on the voter rolls through the mistake of the driver's license agency. I think it’s much more because we don't know in a lot of states, either they have not conducted the audits or they're not using tools to find noncitizens that may have accidentally been placed on the rolls," he said.
Palmer said "the answer really is that there needs to be more care taken to developing a system of verifying citizenship and you just don't see that in most states."

"If they're going to do voter registration, they need to make sure that there's a verification in place for identity and for citizenship, just as if you come into an agency and you're getting a driver's license or identification card, you've got to show that I.D., you've got to make sure that your identity is confirmed, similarly, if you're going to register someone to vote at the driver's license agency, there needs to be a verification process or a documentation process to ensure that you are a citizen," he said.

Meanwhile, after hearing the 30,000 figure, Jackson told Fox News Digital that "the sad reality is I'm not shocked."
"I wonder if it's more," he said, adding, "We've been told, particularly by Democrats, that that's not happening, that there's nothing to see here, and yet we hear again and again documentation that it is happening."
With this in mind, he decried efforts to resist more stringent voter eligibility verification and identification. He took particular issue with those equating voter I.D. requirements as anti-Black and a new form of Jim Crow.
"Forgive me for being personal about this for a moment, but I just find this deeply insulting and deeply offensive because the implication is that somehow if you are black, no matter how wealthy, educated, well-to-do, somehow getting an ID is a problem for you," he said.
"But on the other hand, if you're white, no matter how poor, no matter how uneducated, no matter what your circumstances are, somehow you can get an I.D., that's not a problem, I mean, it's preposterous."

He pointed to the hotel where he was staying as an example.
"Look, I'm in a hotel right now … What was the first thing they asked me for when I walked up to the counter? May we see your I.D., please? Should I say, ‘Wait a minute, oh, you're discriminating against me. You know Black people can't get I.D.s; how dare you ask?’ he said. "I mean, it's ridiculous."

"I don't hate illegal aliens, I don't want to see them harmed or hurt, but they don't have a right to vote in our elections, and they shouldn't be permitted to do so," he concluded. "Anybody who wants to say, well, ‘You're a bigot, you are a hater,’ I mean, they're going to say that. But I think most Americans are people of goodwill and don't feel that way at all; we're simply trying to preserve the integrity of our electoral system."

Judge finds Trump administration in contempt for twice deporting asylum-seeker

A federal judge on Friday found the Trump administration in contempt for deporting an asylum-seeker to El Salvador in violation of three court orders.
U.S. District Judge Stephanie Gallagher ordered the government to return the man -- identified in court documents as E.L.A. -- to the U.S. and to "refrain" from executing any removal orders against him until his asylum case is fully processed.

According to court documents, E.L.A. was wrongfully deported twice.
DHS offering $2,500 stipend to unaccompanied migrant children to self deport After his first deportation, he voluntarily boarded a plane on August 7 to return to the U.S., "submitted himself" to immigration custody, and "endured weeks of detention only to be wrongfully removed by the government a second time to his country of feared persecution."
The case stems from a 2019 federal class-action lawsuit that protects the asylum rights of immigrants who arrived in the U.S. as unaccompanied minors.
According to court documents, at least 107 people protected by the settlement -- 54 confirmed class members and 53 more the government flagged as potentially protected -- were removed under final deportation orders before their asylum claims were decided.

A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to a request for comment from ABC News.
In August, Judge Gallagher found DHS in civil contempt, ruling that the government was repeatedly removing young asylum seekers it was legally barred from deporting.
Friday's court order requires both parties to provide an update on E.L.A.'s return to the U.S. by Oct. 2.

The Supreme Court cleared the way Friday for the Trump administration to implement its overhauled immigration database, which it says is aimed at combatting voter fraud, in time for November’s elections over the dissent of the liberal justices.
The overhaul faced opposition from Democrats and some voting groups, and a judge had blocked it for violating federal privacy law. The Supreme Court’s emergency ruling lifts that block, finding the challengers’ claims are likely to fail.

The majority wrote that “the Federal Government has an obligation to respond to requests from state and local election officials seeking to verify the citizenship of voters.”
“The order below prevents the Federal Government from using the program it believes is best suited to the task,” the court wrote.
The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) service is used to determine eligibility for certain federal programs.

The DHS made significant updates after President Trump directed the agency to ensure election officials had appropriate access to verify their voters’ citizenship. The changes connect SAVE to Social Security records, among other updates.
The three liberal justices publicly dissented, led by Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.
“In my view, however, the harm caused by burdening or disenfranchising even a few lawful voters outweighs the nonexistent harm that the Government experiences when it is prevented from taking an action that it likely lacks the authority to take,” Jackson wrote, joined by Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan.

It is not a final ruling, but the justices’ order means the overhaul can proceed for the midterms as the litigation continues. The case now returns to the lower courts.
However, states are now within the federally mandated 90-day “quiet period” before an election, during which they are barred from systematic voter purges. Any deletions now must be done on an individualized basis, limiting the immediate impact of the court’s decision.
The dispute is among election-related emergency litigation that has swarmed the Supreme Court in the lead-up to the midterms.

Trump’s win comes just days after the court ruled against him on his mail-in voting plan. And days earlier, the court ruled against Missouri Republicans by lifting a judge’s directive to proceed with their new congressional map. That case has now returned to the justices once again.
Solicitor General D. John Sauer told the Supreme Court that the SAVE overhaul is needed to protect election integrity.
“DHS’s SAVE system was not up to the job because it lacked comprehensive data about natural-born citizens, permitted searches only one record at a time, and required the user to supply a person’s alien registration number (or other DHS number)—which States often do not know,” Sauer explained.

U.S. District Judge Sparkle Sooknanan, an appointee of former President Biden, blocked it in June. She found the changes violated the Social Security Act and a federal law that regulates how the government can disclose individuals’ personal data.
The Trump administration brought her ruling to the Supreme Court after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit declined to lift her order in a 2-1 vote.
Voting groups called the overhaul “unprecedented” in their filings with the Supreme Court and urged the justices to not get involved.

“Today’s decision is profoundly disappointing, as it puts millions of Americans at risk of being unlawfully targeted by the administration’s unreliable voter purge database weeks before the midterm elections,” the League of Women Voters said in a statement. The group is leading the lawsuit.
“However, this case is not over,” the statement continued. “The D.C. district court ruled that the expanded SAVE program violated multiple laws. We will be doing everything in our power to protect Americans’ voting and privacy rights by ensuring that the district court decision stands.”

Brazil is exporting socialism to America — and the DSA is eagerly importing it

Just three years ago, the Brazilian president headlined the 2023 São Paulo Forum, the premier gathering of Marxist leaders throughout the Americas. Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva markedly exclaimed, “To call us communist or socialist will never offend us. Never. On the contrary, it makes us proud. The people know that we deserve to be called that.” Naturally, over the course of his decadeslong career, his politics have forged a tight-knit friendship between his party, Partido dos Trabalhadores, and the Democratic Socialists of America.

In his speech, his political candor announced to the audience his true intentions: socialist expansion. From initially meeting the DSA with open arms during his first year in office to the continuing propagation of socialism in America 23 years later. Lula and the PT have a vested interest in the growth of socialism in the United States.
During the 21st century, the PT played the role of a quiet actor in assisting communist Cuba and Venezuela in building the socialist “Pink Tide” that spread across Latin America. But as the anarchic, socialist chaos that defined the first quarter of the century is coming to an end, a yearning for peace across Latin America has stirred a desire for conservatism. This new enthusiasm has led to a wave of conservative victories, with the likes of El Salvador’s Nayib Bukele and Argentina’s Javier Milei becoming exceedingly popular figureheads.

The political juggernaut of Latin America, Brazil, is just a month away from a key presidential election. In a new poll, Lula holds a slight lead over his conservative opponent Jair Bolsonaro, 46% to 44%. A Lula victory would come with an unprecedented fourth term and would embolden a socialist government that has actively supported socialism across the Western Hemisphere. Inside the U.S., nobody has more to win or lose from the outcome of the election than the DSA.
During the PT’s socialist reign, it has made the most of its power. Actively hosting international forums that bring together Marxist cliques and train ranks for often violent democratic victories. The government-backed political assistance has invigorated the Marxists of the Americas. As Lula proudly stated why he created the São Paulo Forum, “I began talking with comrades from the Communist Party of Cuba and with Comrade Fidel Castro, and we raised the possibility of holding a meeting with the entire Latin American Left. … That was how the idea of calling the first São Paulo Forum was born.”

When the DSA received its invitation to the XXII Congress of the Socialist International, it gladly accepted the call and met with the PT in 2003. At the Congress, they crafted and signed the Declaration of São Paulo, with the express purpose of calling upon all progressive people and organizations to form a new world order. Embracing an internationalist socialist league, mirroring the objective of the Soviet Union.
Since their first meeting, the organizations have further bonded. The DSA has taken advantage of Brazil’s diplomatic assistance by becoming the lapdog of Marxist governments across Latin America. Furthering their declaration, in 2019, the DSA Convention Resolution resolved that “The International Committee shall prioritize establishing relations with socialist and working class organizations in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada, Brazil, the Caribbean, and Latin America broadly.”

Since the resolution, the DSA has stood by its word, becoming a member of the Sao Paulo Forum, where it pledged it would deepen ties with the Chinese Communist Party, and met with Marxist narco-terrorists and various Latin American authoritarian leaders. At the same time, cooperating with the PT’s party fund and nonprofit organization Fundação Perseu Abramo in hosting “Socialist Strategy & Tactics in Times of Crisis,” a program designed to share strategies on building socialist coalitions with the stated goal of fighting the “far-right menace in the Americas.” The coalition is bringing together not just the PT and DSA, but also the progressive caucus of the U.S. Congress, holding official meetings with the caucus ahead of the 2026 midterm elections to discuss how best to combat President Donald Trump.

'BREAK THE LAW AND GET AWAY WITH IT': INSIDE THE YOUTH GROUP TRAINING CAMPUS RADICALS

This bilateral exchange has galvanized DSA chapters to create their own “Pink Tide” and embrace the sole intention of inciting constituents and winning elections. Happily, practicing the strategy of coyly subverting the nation’s people and constitution. In executing this treasonous goal, Brazil has offered guidance to the DSA.
The upcoming Brazilian election will play a major role in the future of the DSA, leaving the organization in a state of emergency if the heart of South American socialism stops beating. Vocally anti-socialist, conservative governments in Brazil and the U.S. would curb the power of nongovernmental organizations and foreign-backed initiatives that are currently propagating the cancerous growth of the DSA. With a tight election deciding the next four years of socialism throughout the Americas, there must be a concerted effort to defeat socialism at home and abroad.

On Friday’s broadcast of “NewsNation Now,” Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller (R) said that recent ICE raids in Kansas are going to cause beef prices to rise and “this is not a good way to lower beef prices by shutting down our packing plants.”

Miller said, “[T]his imported beef…has not dropped the price of hamburger. … The only ones making any money are the big packers, buying cheaper meat and selling it for the same price. But this has caused ranchers to receive $3-500 a head less for their beef. And ICE, this week, raided three packing plants in Kansas, shut them down. So, now, our cattle are backing up, and we’re receiving lower prices.

And this is driving up the price of beef for the consumer, because there’s less on the shelf. So, this is just a huge comedy of errors.”

Later, he added, “Well, when Trump first came into office, he said, we’ll do a crackdown on illegals, we’re going to arrest the criminals and the lawbreakers. And what did they do? They went out to dairies and started arresting agriculture workers, and we couldn’t get the cows milked. I raised Cain, a lot of other ag. commissioners did. They finally stopped that, and said, no, we’re not after those guys, we really want to go get the criminals, and those people aren’t criminals. Well, it’s been kind of quiet.

Except, recently, ICE raided three packing plants in Garden City, Liberal, and Dodge City, Kansas.

Well, that causes huge problems, because it’s a ripple effect. The cattle start backing up, we can’t sell them. So, the price goes down. But, on the other end, consumers can’t get beef. So, the grocery stores go up on beef prices when we’re trying to lower beef prices. … So, this is not a good way to lower beef prices by shutting down our packing plants.”

A Lanzarote emergency official has said human traffickers threw a two-year-old boy into the Atlantic, killing him, because they were annoyed with him crying during a migrant crossing to the Canary Islands.

Enrique Espinosa, who runs Lanzarote’s Emergency Services Consortium, described the murder on the Cronicas Radio program “A Buena Hora” after being asked about a gang rape reported on another boat that reached the island, according to a report from The Sun.

“There are even more terrible things than that,” Espinosa said. “On a boat, they threw a two-year-old child who was crying with his mother into the water. They are terrible things. When they start telling you things, you see that it borders on a lack of humanity. An end must be put to all this trafficking by mafias.”

Espinosa said the men who control these migrant trips threw him overboard because the crying annoyed them.

Spanish National Police have not announced an arrest tied to the toddler’s death.

The radio interview originally focused on a case from September 16, when a small boat bound for Lanzarote was intercepted.

Spanish coast guard officials said the crossing put 65 survivors on land, and three bodies were recovered.

After the boat reached Arrecife, a woman told rescuers she had been sexually assaulted, likely in international waters, by several men.

The woman was reportedly in serious condition.

A witness from the same boat reported seeing the assault.

National Police in Arrecife arrested three men, aged 21, 25, and 30. Their names and nationalities were not released.

A police spokesman said, “Given her serious state of health, the necessary resources were activated to provide her with initial assistance, and she subsequently received specialized care as a victim at police premises.”

The Sun reports, “More than 450 migrants have been rescued off the coast of Lanzarote in the past few days, according to officials.”

“Over a dozen people are believed to have died during the crossing.”

President Trump’s $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions has effectively ended the program as a route for new foreign workers. According to the White House’s proclamation, employers paid the fee for only about 700 workers in the year after it took effect, and consular processing requests fell nearly 97 percent.

State Department data show that H-1B visa issuances fell 74 percent between February 2025 and February 2026, while visas for H-1B spouses and children fell 81 percent. On September 18, Trump extended the fee through September 2027. A federal judge had already ruled the fee an unconstitutional tax, and the First Circuit refused to reinstate it while the government appeals.

The H-1B restrictions are part of a broader tightening of legal and illegal entry. At the southern border, encounters fell to about 8,900 in August 2026, 96 percent below the December 2023 record of 249,700. DHS reports 16 straight months in which the Border Patrol released no illegal aliens into the interior.

On legal entry, Trump’s December 16, 2025, travel proclamation took effect on January 1, 2026. It fully restricted visas for nationals of 19 countries and partially restricted visas for nationals of 19 more, including Nigeria, Cuba, and Venezuela. In May 2025, the State Department under Secretary Marco Rubio announced that it would aggressively revoke visas of Chinese students with ties to the Chinese Communist Party or studying in critical fields.

By August 2026, the department had revoked more than 175,000 visas of all types. Consulates issued 26 percent fewer nonimmigrant visas and 48 percent fewer immigrant visas in February 2026 than in February 2025. Active international student records fell by more than 70,000 between August 2025 and August 2026.

This tightening matters for American workers. Despite liberals’ claims, employers do not hire H-1B workers because Americans cannot do the jobs. They hire them because they can pay less.

Indian nationals received 71 percent of the 399,395 H-1B petitions approved in fiscal 2024. Labor Department rules allow employers to offer H-1B workers wages below the local median. In fiscal 2019, 60 percent of H-1B positions were certified at those lower wage levels. For a software developer in Washington, D.C., the lowest level allowed pay about $41,746 a year, or 36 percent below the median.

Trump’s 2025 proclamation cited that same figure.

The Labor Department’s March 2026 proposed rule found that 63 percent of certifications used the two lower wage levels. Offered wages averaged $10,191 less than the government’s survey average for the same jobs.

In a free market, supply and demand set wages. The H-1B program lets employers use government-certified wages below the local average, giving them a reason to hire foreign workers for less.

American job seekers must then compete with people willing to accept much lower pay, putting downward pressure on wages for everyone.

Usually, Democrats and liberals argue that there is no evidence that increased immigration or illegal immigration suppresses wages. When they are forced to acknowledge that legal and illegal immigrants can suppress wages, they say the effect is limited to the lowest-paying jobs. Ironically, many of those jobs did not use to pay so little before illegal immigration increased.

Liberals claim to want to help minorities, yet Black workers are among those most affected by wage suppression in lower-paying jobs. During the June 27, 2024, presidential debate, Trump said illegal immigrants were “taking Black jobs.”

Democrats mocked him on social media. Rep. Gwen Moore posted, “Hello from my office at my Black job!” Others shared photos of Black physicians, astronauts, fighter pilots, and professors under #BlackJobs. They missed his point: Black workers can be disadvantaged by competition for lower-paying jobs.

In 2010, the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights found that illegal immigration tended to reduce wages and employment among low-skilled American citizens, a disproportionate share of whom were Black men. Economists George Borjas, Jeffrey Grogger, and Gordon Hanson found that a 10 percent immigrant-driven increase in the supply of workers in a skill group reduced Black wages by 2.5 percent and the employment rate of Black men by 5.9 percentage points.

The National Academies of Sciences also identified native-born high school dropouts and prior immigrants as the workers most likely to see their wages reduced by new immigration.

Immigration increases the number of workers in the labor pool. As the labor pool grows, wages fall. The effect on U.S. wages is amplified by the much lower incomes in immigrants’ countries of origin.

Consider people arriving from countries where $10 a day would be a dream salary. In America, even $15 or $20 an hour is far more than they could earn at home. The IMF projects 2026 GDP per capita at $94,430 in the United States, compared with $15,779 in Mexico, $14,874 in China, and $2,813 in India. The figures are $2,902 in Cambodia, $5,115 in Vietnam, and $1,556 in Nigeria.

A retail salesperson in California earned an average of $20.07 an hour. At that rate, one hour’s pay exceeds a week’s minimum wage in Nigeria. A day and a half of pay equals a month’s average income per person in India or Cambodia, and two weeks of pay exceeds a month’s average income in Mexico or China.

An immigrant from India, Vietnam, Cambodia, or Nigeria offered $5 an hour to work illegally would earn more than they could earn at home. If employers can find workers willing to do a job for $5 an hour, they will not hire Americans who demand $15. So anyone who says immigration does not suppress wages is insane.

The second claim is that immigrants do jobs Americans do not want to do. That is not exactly true, either. There is no job Americans refuse to do. What Americans may refuse is a dirty or difficult job at a low wage.

Americans work as garbage collectors. The job is smelly, physically demanding, and starts early, but municipal sanitation workers can earn good wages and benefits. Cut that pay to $5 an hour, and Americans would have little reason to take the job. Immigrants willing to work for that rate could then fill it.

Wage suppression also affects workers beyond the lowest-paying jobs. When employers fill jobs at the bottom with people willing to work for $5 an hour, workers who would otherwise have held those jobs compete for positions in the next wage bracket. That increases the labor pool there and puts downward pressure on those wages. The same pattern can continue up the ladder.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Markwayne Mullin is drawing heavy fire from conservative watchdogs and immigration patriots after issuing a startling public declaration that federal enforcement officers will not be targeting illegal immigrants at commercial worksites across Kansas.

The explosive statement came directly on the heels of mounting pressure from major agriculture and livestock lobbies, leaving grassroots conservatives asking why federal immigration law is seemingly being carved out for big corporate interests.

According to reporting from NewsNation’s Ali Bradley, DHS clarified its position on social media, asserting that ICE is deliberately avoiding sweeping worksite operations in the Jayhawk State.

Bradley wrote on X, stating, “NEW: DHS says @ICEgov is not arresting illegal immigrants at worksites in Kansas.”

Mullin posted on X that “ICE is not conducting worksite operations in Kansas.” He added that agents have instead “conducted operations targeting heinous criminals including murderers, rapists, and drug traffickers and illegal aliens with final orders of removal.”

The sudden carve-out comes as regional livestock associations in Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma released a joint, coordinated pushback against federal workplace immigration raids.

Major agriculture industry groups argued that immigration enforcement was disrupting their labor supply at dairies, meat-processing plants, and feedyards.

According to local reports from KCUR News, several meatpacking facilities and small businesses in southwest Kansas temporarily shuttered their doors or saw severe worker absences this week as federal agents carried out targeted fugitive operations in neighboring areas.

As reported by the Texas Tribune, the Texas Cattle Feeders Association, Kansas Livestock Association, and Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association teamed up to issue a joint statement demanding federal agents scale back operations that affect the agricultural supply chain.

The powerful industry groups complained that ICE presence creates a “chilling effect” on workers and warned of potential price increases on beef if worksite law enforcement continues unhindered.

Kansas Sens. Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall both contacted Mullin. Moran said the secretary assured him the warrants targeted people charged with criminal activity.

Nick Sortor, who amplified the story, posted: “So worksites are now safe zones for illegals in Kansas?

Lmao.” He later wrote a separate post that exploded: “DHS Secretary Mullin has declared ‘worksites’ in Kansas are OFF-LIMITS to ICE. So basically, Mullin has granted amnesty to any illegal shittily building houses in America’s heartland. This is NOT what 80 MILLION Americans voted for!”

On Mullin’s own thread, users hammered the secretary. FaceTheMountains wrote, “In other words. Ice only detains a few illegals. Backing down on what Americans actually wants, which is our country back.”

Gina Milan said, “So you’re avoiding worksites now that have illegals? We didn’t vote for this crap, by the way. We voted for mass deportations.” Shannon added, “We voted for ALL OF THEM TO BE DEPORTED.”

BeraMoose put it plainly: “We voted for ALL illegals to be deported, not just the ones that committed additional crimes. ICE needs to start worksite raids too. They don’t get a pass!”

Replies to Bradley’s post were just as blunt. One user wrote, “Aka, those businesses are using illegal labor. Arrest the business owners and shut down their company. Duh…”

Another: “So that means they’re using illegal labor.” Sarah Adams observed, “He thinks no criminals are on a job site, Mullin is painfully naive.” Others called Mullin a “sellout” and demanded President Trump fire him.

AOC’s team admitted it: The Green New Deal was never about saving the planet

There once was a time, many years ago, when Americans mistakenly believed that climate change posed a threat to humanity and the only solution was a green revolution.

At the peak of climate alarmism madness, the Green New Deal was billed as a viable plan to achieve the so-called green transition.

In 2019, Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) introduced the Green New Deal resolution into both houses of Congress, claiming it would address “the existential crisis of climate change” and “create millions of good, high-wage jobs in the United States, provide unprecedented levels of prosperity and economic security for Americans, and counteract systemic injustices.”

At the time, President Donald Trump was in the White House, which meant the Green New Deal had zero chance of becoming law.
That changed during former President Joe Biden’s term, when some parts of the Green New Deal were passed into law under the Inflation Reduction Act and other parts were temporarily put into place via executive actions.

We all know what happened next. Energy prices skyrocketed.

Did you know that Biden’s Green New Deal policies raised energy costs by at least $2,548 from 2021 to 2023 for “the average American household.” During that period, residential electricity prices increased 23%, home heating oil surged 69%, and natural gas prices rose 32%.

This happened because the Green New Deal prioritizes unaffordable and unreliable energy while simultaneously stifling affordable, reliable, and abundant energy. This double whammy was one of the main reasons Trump was reelected in 2024.
In the years since, the need for abundant, reliable, and affordable energy has become front and center, given that modern society needs ample energy to keep expanding the digital frontier.

Although Americans have every right to complain about high gas prices, at least the Trump administration has made major progress in making America energy-dominant.

“President Donald J. Trump has delivered on his promise to unleash American energy, putting an end to years of burdensome regulations, job-killing mandates, and foreign-dependent policies,” noted the White House in late February. “Through decisive action, the United States has reclaimed its position as the world’s leading energy producer and exporter, driving economic growth, lowering costs for families, and enhancing national security.”

Trump’s anti-Green New Deal agenda ought to be celebrated as a good step toward securing a sound energy posture for the United States so that America can emerge triumphant in the AI arms race.

Despite the stakes at hand, far-left Democrats and the Democratic Socialists of America remain wedded to the idea that the climate crisis is imminent and that the Green New Deal must be implemented immediately.

According to the DSA: “The climate crisis is an emergency. The world’s top scientists are saying we have little time to get off fossil fuels. We fight for a Green New Deal because it’s the only plan that meets the scale of the crisis, one that puts people and planet over profit to build a more just and sustainable economy.”

Naturally, the DSA provides zero compelling evidence to support the assertion that climate change poses an imminent threat.

On the other hand, there is a mountain of evidence supporting the common-sense idea that the planet’s climate has always changed and will always change.

Climate is not a static force dependent solely on the amount of carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere from humanity’s use of fossil fuels. Rather, as all scientists know, climate and weather are highly dynamic forces influenced by numerous factors well outside human control. That is what this is all about: control.

The Green New Deal was never about saving the planet, increasing prosperity, or combating inequality.

The Green New Deal is all about power and control.

Shortly after Ocasio-Cortez introduced the Green New Deal, her chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, let the cat out of the bag.

“The interesting thing about the Green New Deal, is it wasn't originally a climate thing at all,” Chakrabarti admitted to reporters. “Do you guys think of it as a climate thing? Because we really think of it as a 'how do you change the entire economy' thing.”

With most Americans no longer worried about a climate change apocalypse, I suspect the left will simply invent another scaremongering campaign to justify the Green New Deal.

Whatever they come up with, Americans should remain skeptical because the Green New Deal is just a mechanism for the far Left to exert unprecedented command and control.

One of the men who was wounded in the attempted assassination of President Trump at a 2024 campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, has died.

In a statement on behalf of his family, Jim Copenhaver's lawyer confirmed the "devoted" husband, father and grandfather died on Wednesday, two years after he was "gravely wounded" during a shooting at a Trump rally. Coppenhaver died "from complications stemming from those wounds," Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday said.

In a statement, his family's lawyer said, "James's dedication to this great country was a defining part of his life. As a veteran, he proudly served our nation in the armed forces, and his love of country never wavered. James was a true American patriot who believed deeply in the freedoms and ideals upon which this nation was founded, and he embodied the very best traits of our great nation."

Mr. Trump offered his condolences to Copenhaver's family in a post on Truth Social, calling him "a true American Patriot."

"After being wounded while protecting his family, Jim showed tremendous bravery, courageously continuing to FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT, and maintaining a positive spirit despite unimaginable hardships. His indelible legacy of love and devotion will forever endure," Mr. Trump wrote.

House Republicans first announced the news on social media on Thursday.

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jim Copenhaver, who was gravely wounded in the horrific shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania," the tweet from the House GOP account read. "Jim endured unimaginable hardship with strength and perseverance. We join his family and loved ones in mourning his loss and praying for them during this difficult time."

Copenhaver was one of two rally-goers injured during the shooting on July 13, 2024. David Dutch of New Kensington was also injured and Corey Comperatore was killed.

One bullet hit Copenhaver in the triceps and another was lodged in his body after it took chunks of his colon, leaving him with nerve damage.

About a week after he was hospitalized, Copenhaver was discharged.

Both Copenhaver and Dutch spoke with KDKA-TV nearly a year after the assassination attempt and recalled the terror that broke out during the campaign rally for Mr. Trump.

"I was standing up looking at the Jumbotron behind me, and next thing I know my sleeve has been yanked," Copenhaver said. "I could see a portion of it going by pretty fast, and I heard 'pew.' I heard it, and I didn't realize at the time that I had gotten shot. But I turned around, and that's when I got the second shot."

Copenhaver was 76 years old.

America has borders — it doesn’t need a bloodline

Two recent controversies on the political Right have forced an uncomfortable question: What does it actually mean to be an American?
In Texas, Republican railroad commission candidate Bo French sparked a national controversy after posting a photograph of South Asian students celebrating a University of Texas football victory and suggesting their presence represented Americans being displaced by foreigners. The backlash came from both Democrats and Republicans. The facts also undercut the picture he was trying to paint: more than 80% of UT Austin students are Texas residents, while international students make up just 4.3% of undergraduates.

Then came Republican Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar’s (R-FL) warning to President Donald Trump that some of his immigration enforcement efforts had “gone too far.” Salazar wasn’t calling for open borders. She argued that the administration’s aggressive enforcement was alienating Hispanic voters, pointing specifically to the number of people detained who had no criminal record.
On the surface, these are different controversies. Underneath, they raise the same question: Is American identity ultimately about ancestry, or about becoming part of America? Conservatives should have a clear answer.
I believe in secure borders. I believe immigration laws should be enforced. I believe immigrants should assimilate. But assimilation does not mean becoming somebody else’s version of an American.
It means becoming a productive member of the American civic community. Learn the language well enough to participate. Follow the law. Work. Raise your children. Contribute to your community. Understand the country’s history. Respect the Constitution and the institutions that hold the country together.

That’s assimilation. Abandoning your ancestry isn’t. Neither is giving up your religion, food, music, traditions, or cultural heritage. And certainly not looking a certain way.
America should expect immigrants to become Americans, not to become white Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans or somebody else’s imagined version of the “real” American. That’s where the phrase “heritage American” deserves scrutiny.
There is nothing wrong with taking pride in America’s history or calling yourself a patriot. Conservatives should care about preserving traditions, teaching history, and passing institutions from one generation to the next. But a “heritage American” should not become a category of American who is considered more authentically American because his ancestors arrived earlier.
The problem with the “heritage American” framework is that it can turn ancestry into a test of belonging. Once political language starts defining Americans by ancestry and treating demographic change as a threat to the people who supposedly belong here, it enters darker territory.

Someone can say he isn’t motivated by race. He’s just “protecting his heritage.” He’s not excluding anyone, he’s just “preserving his culture.” He’s not suspicious of people because of their ethnicity, he’s just worried about “demographic change.” But language matters.
“Heritage” can become a respectable way to talk about who belongs without openly talking about race. And when fear of demographic displacement becomes the emotional foundation of an immigration argument, conservatives should be willing to recognize where that road can lead. That should concern conservatives.
For years, the Right has criticized the Left for reducing Americans to racial categories and making ancestry politically significant. That criticism was justified. But conservatives cannot defeat identity politics by creating a competing version of it. Identity politics does not become conservative simply because the identity being elevated is called “heritage.”

A country has every right to control its borders. It has the right to decide who enters, enforce its immigration laws, and expect newcomers to respect its civic institutions. But there is a profound difference between saying, “You need to follow the law and become a productive member of this society,” and saying, “You need the right ancestry to truly belong here.”
The first is assimilation. The second is ancestry politics. And once ancestry becomes the measure of belonging, racial thinking has already entered through the back door. This is where conservatives need to look in the mirror.
I have always tried to take a clear moral position in my writing, even when it puts me at odds with people on my own side. I am a conservative because I believe in certain principles, not simply because I belong to a political party. And I have to admit something: I don’t like the direction parts of the Republican Party are moving.

I can disagree with Democrats on immigration, crime, government spending, family policy, and the role of government while still believing that racial fear and ancestry should have no place in defining who belongs in America. Those positions are not contradictory. But we should ask ourselves a harder question: How did we get so far from our own principles that some on our side are beginning to treat ancestry as a measure of American belonging?
We should be able to defend the border without fearing our neighbors. We should be able to demand assimilation without demanding cultural conformity. We should be able to love America’s history without turning ancestry into a qualification for belonging.
That’s not a retreat from conservatism. It is a reminder of what conservatism is supposed to conserve. America does not need a racial definition of citizenship. It needs a civic one.

Conservatives should not need the idea of a “heritage American” to defend American identity. We can secure the border without creating a bloodline. We can demand assimilation without demanding cultural conformity. We can preserve American traditions without deciding that some Americans are more American than others.
Conservatives should not need racial identity to defend American identity. America is already worth defending.

Two illegal immigrants from Cuba with criminal records are behind bars after police say they were selling drugs and had stolen guns.
After their arrests, Cesar Valdes, 89, and Magdaleno Medina, 73, were found to have been in the country illegally – for more than 45 years.
Their recent trouble began after the Miami Police Department sent an undercover officer to purchase $60 worth of cocaine from Medina on Aug. 19, according to court records.

After Medina allegedly sold the officer the drug, police returned to the "trailer" on Sept. 9 with a narcotics search warrant. They found Valdes there, too.
In their search, officers said they found dozens of clear bags of cocaine and marijuana, ammunition, stolen firearms and more than $4,800.

The men entered the country without inspection near Key West, Florida, on different days in May 1980, an ICE spokesman told Fox News Digital.
Medina has four prior felony convictions in the United States for cocaine smuggling, drug possession and drug trafficking, an ICE spokesman said. An immigration judge issued him a final order of exclusion July 24, 1996.
Final orders of exclusion were decisions made by immigration judges and issued before April 1997. That’s when a new system of removal proceedings began, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The details of Medina’s prior arrests and convictions were unavailable. It was unclear whether he spent any time in jail.
Valdes has a record of previous charges in Miami-Dade County, including cocaine possession and probation violation in the 1980s and 1990s. It was unclear whether he spent any time in jail.
Valdes was issued a final order of exclusion by an immigration judge on March 10, 1993.
Medina currently faces eight felony charges, including possession of cocaine with the intent to sell, cocaine trafficking and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. Valdes is facing five similar drug- and firearm-related felony charges.

Both men are being held in a Miami jail with ICE detainers.
"Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, if you break the law, you will face the consequences," an ICE spokesman told Fox News Digital in an email.
"Criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the U.S. We will find you, we will arrest you, and we will deport you."

Medina and Cesar have pleaded not guilty to their charges in Miami-Dade County. The attorney representing both men declined to comment on their cases.

Fifty-nine percent of Democrats now call themselves supporters of the Democratic Socialists of America. That’s scary because the stated goals of the DSA are not some bloated European welfare state but a radical overhaul of American society. It’s an overhaul that would eventually cost us both our economic and democratic freedoms.

A new Quinnipiac poll did not sugarcoat wording to ask about “fairness” instead of socialism or whether people were “open-minded” to so-called “democratic socialist” policies. It directly asked, “On political matters, do you consider yourself a supporter of the Democratic Socialists of America, or not?” Twenty-six percent of those surveyed answered in the affirmative, while a whopping 59% of Democrats did.
In the past, DSA politicians have confused the public by saying things like Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez touted after she was first elected, “What we have in mind and what my policies most closely re-resemble are what we see in the U.K., in Norway, in Finland, in Sweden.” Bernie Sanders made a similar claim in a 2015 presidential debate, saying, “I think we should look to countries like Denmark, like Sweden and Norway, and learn from what they have accomplished for their working people.”

DSA is a political organization that is becoming an increasingly

But the Nordic countries are not socialist. They are all market economies with strong private property rights, open trade, and relatively light business regulation. All but Norway rank in the top 25% freest economies, i.e., capitalist, in the world, and Denmark is in the top 10. Nordic countries just have high taxes and big welfare states grafted on top of a capitalist economy. Reasonable people can disagree whether that is better or worse than the United States’s economic system.
Maybe that is what 59% of Democratic poll respondents thought they were supporting. But the DSA is more honest about its agenda today than its politicians have been in the past. This summer, it released a foundational document, “Our Program,” outlining its agenda. It's a hardcore socialist agenda, not some bloated European welfare state.
The document is remarkably honest. It states, “We are workers fighting to transform society: to win the battle for democracy, draft a new constitution, and create a democratic socialist republic. DSA has written this program for ending capitalist oligarchy and creating a real democracy. Some of these demands may be won under our current system, but we know complete victory will require building a new society from the ground up.”

The economic program calls for "public ownership of the largest corporations and essential industries" and the stated goal of a "classless society." There is no market mechanism anywhere in the plan the way there is in Nordic countries. I don’t know what the 59% think they signed up to support, but what is outlined in DSA's agenda is more like Venezuela than Sweden.
Hugo Chavez ran on a “democratic socialist” platform when he was elected in 1998. He subsequently was reelected and ushered in a new “democratic socialist” constitution. He implemented a program that expropriated private property, controlled prices, and centrally directed economic activity. At first it was praised as successful “democratic socialism,” while high oil prices and exports hid the economic unraveling. But socialist policies eventually led to a collapse in oil and non-oil output alike, shortages, and hyperinflation. The socialist economic platform failed just as economic theory predicts.

What's more interesting than the economic failure is the political one. A government that causes an economic collapse has a problem no incumbent wants: an electorate about to vote it out. The answer for Nicolas Maduro, Chavez’s successor, was not to hold the promised elections and lose gracefully. It was to hollow out the courts, jail the opposition, and rewrite the rules until losing was no longer on the menu.

“Democratic socialism” is impossible to maintain because socialism leads to economic stagnation and simultaneously centralizes power in such a way that it can be used to undermine democracy when the inevitable stagnation occurs. The DSA program is already preparing for a transition that centralizes power when it calls to “abolish the Senate” and “Replace the President and Supreme Court with an executive and judiciary chosen by and subordinate to Congress.”

It is no accident that every socialist experiment has led to dictatorship and political tyranny. Real “democratic socialism” is a unicorn, and attempting to realize it in the United States would result in the same horrific outcome as it has everywhere else. I doubt that 59% of Democrats are closet Chavistas, but they need to wake up and realize that is the agenda of the Democratic Socialists of America — not a Nordic-style social democracy.

Manufacturing mental illness to block deportations: It’s time to put immigration evaluations on ice

I rarely pay attention to advertisements, but one that targeted neuropsychologists like me recently caught my eye.
Sponsored by the social justice and advocacy committee of the Hispanic Neuropsychological Society, it invited me to join online training sessions focused on immigration. Specifically, it promised to help me and my peers document illegal immigrants’ “cognitive impairments or severe emotional barriers that may justify exceptions to procedural requirements.” The implication was that psychologists could help people avoid deportation. Concerned about advocacy overriding objectivity in immigration-related psychological practice, I decided to attend four training sessions over the summer.

What I saw deeply concerned me about the intellectual integrity of my profession, as well as the strength of the rule of law. The sessions focused on “immigration evaluations,” which are mental health assessments, frequently authored by psychologists, that can influence an immigration proceeding. They are widely used when deportation is on the table. Several presenters stated that they considered these evaluations a form of social justice advocacy, and one psychologist said that evaluations don’t need to be comprehensive because Immigration and Customs Enforcement attorneys lack the expertise to challenge a psychologist’s conclusions. It turned out that another presenter had written favorably about psychologists resisting ICE. Altogether, I left the trainings concerned that biased evaluations may be undermining America’s immigration system.

In immigration law, a psychologist’s findings can fundamentally alter the outcome of a case. A trauma diagnosis, for instance, supports an illegal immigrant’s claim that they experienced persecution in their country and therefore deserve asylum in the United States. Psychological evaluations have been shown to roughly double an immigrant’s chances of a positive outcome. Psychological reports can also explain away credibility-damaging discrepancies in an illegal immigrant’s testimony; psychologists may claim that the errors are due to trauma-related memory distortion. Psychiatric diagnoses are also used to buttress illegal immigrants’ requests for what’s known as an “extreme hardship waiver,” which allows the immigrant to remain in the U.S. rather than be deported if extreme mental or physical hardship to a close relative who is a U.S. resident can be demonstrated. U.S. Customs and Immigration Service data show that such waivers had an approval rate approaching 90% in 2025.

Though humanitarian exceptions to deportation exist for justifiable reasons, Americans should worry that trauma and other mental-health diagnoses are being manufactured by sympathetic psychologists to unfairly aid illegal immigrants. Recent state changes to licensing laws mean that most psychologists can now conduct telehealth evaluations in most of the nation without leaving their desk, and entrepreneurial practitioners have built group telehealth practices capable of evaluating multiple illegal immigrants daily all over the country.
One psychologist who markets her practice as uniting families — which raises concerns of bias in her evaluations — claims it has completed more than 34,000 immigration evaluations. In May 2026, illegal immigrants filed a class action lawsuit against an immigration attorney in Washington who reportedly served 80,000 immigrants and allegedly sent some to a psychology practice called En Solidaridad for fraudulent psychological evaluations. There is clearly a push within my profession to use immigration evaluations to block deportations.

In other forensic arenas, such as personal injury and criminal cases, expert witnesses are commonly retained by both sides to help the trier of fact determine the credibility of each side’s claims. But the government infrequently uses experts in immigration cases, which means that biased psychological examinations on behalf of immigrants go mostly unchallenged. A 2025 study showed that although psychologists can assess the veracity of a patient’s symptoms using established credibility tests, only 25% of psychologists conducting immigration evaluations use those tests. In forensic psychology, an evaluation that excludes credibility testing is substandard, and substandard analyses are apparently the norm in immigration cases.

Only a few years ago, people were paying psychologists to write letters certifying their pets as emotional support animals so they could fly with them on planes. Initially begun to help people with genuine disabilities, the loophole was abused and eventually reined in by the federal government. We face a similar situation with immigration evaluations, so the government should take steps to limit abuse. It should restrict evaluations to the most extreme immigration cases, mandate court-overseen credibility testing across the board, and increase prosecutions of unethical psychologists who abuse the system.

If such efforts don’t bear fruit, immigration evaluations should be reconsidered altogether, though only as a last resort. Without immediate reform, biased psychological evaluations will continue to undermine both the rule of law and the integrity of the nation's immigration system.

A supposedly moderate Democrat says his “biggest desire” is to grant amnesty to millions of wage-cutting illegal migrants.

“My biggest desire, my biggest goal of what I want to accomplish in politics right now, is I want to legalize seven or eight or nine or 10 million people in our country, so they will not be subject to deportation,” Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY) told an audience in a speech spotlighted by the Republican National Committee.

Suozzi is often described as in the establishment media as a moderate. But his desire for mass amnesty is driven by ideological support for foreigners instead of Americans and by pressure from progressive economic planners and profit-maximizing business groups.

“People often ask me why I care so much about immigration,” he wrote in an August 2025 essay, adding:

Immigration is personal for me. I look at America through the lens of the immigrant story — the story of my family, and the story of the American dream.

My father came to this country as an infant. His parents — my grandparents — came from Italy with nothing. And yet, through hard work and devotion to family, they built a life here. Their son went to law school on the GI bill after serving in World War II, rising to become a mayor and a State Supreme Court justice. Their grandson is a member of the United States Congress.

Many other Democrats emotionally favor migrants above Americans. This emotional skew is especially strong among Democrats with many migrants in their districts.

Sympathy for migrants over citizens and their children is also common among GOP politicians. For example, retiring Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) posted a September 25 op-ed in the Washington Post lamenting the successful deportation of an illegal migrant:

I tried to help her. In August, I detailed Mariana’s case in the Omaha World-Herald. I personally talked with the secretary of Homeland Security about her situation, and my office exhausted every avenue available to us to prevent her departure. None of it was enough.

Suozzi’s emotional support for migrants — not citizens — is also backed up by progressives’ eagerness to use migrants for progressive economic priorities such as economic redistribution, regardless of the damage to ordinary citizens.

For example, in January 2026, Suozzi complained that wages are rising because of President Donald Trump’s deportations and his low-migration economic policies:

We have to expand the [progressive] Affordability Agenda beyond just health insurance… We have to look at all the different factors, even the immigration policy, where we have a million and a half less people in the workforce right now, it’s causing more overtime and having to hire people at higher wages. These are all upward pressure[s] on people’s prices.

Rising wages help Americans and their families but hurt progressives because they reduce voters’ interest in progressive-style economic planning and redistribution.

Rising wages are also uncomfortable for establishment Republicans because they anger donors by deflating the profits and stock prices of profitable companies.

Bacon echoed this concern in his op-ed:

We are doing [deportations] at the exact moment the country can least afford to lose workers… Without immigration, our workforce shrinks, and we are pushing out the people who could help fill the gap.

There are practical fixes right in front of Congress. I have worked closely with nearly 40 of my colleagues on the bipartisan Dignity Act, which secures the border while giving people who are already here, working and following the rules, a lawful way to stay. But such efforts struggle to gain real traction in a Congress locked into an us-versus-them posture. This does not get fixed unless the parties work together.

The “Dignity Act” would provide a huge inflow of “cheap labor” for employers, says its chief advocate, Rep. Marcia Salazar (R-FL).

Though Suozzi is repeatedly described by the establishment media as a “moderate,” his migration policy is a close match for President Joe Biden’s radical policies.

In September 2024, Biden’s pro-migration border chief, Alejandro Mayorkas, explained how he used migration to grow the national Gross Domestic Product regardless of the impact on migrants or Americans’ wages and housing:

We look to the north, with Canada. Canada takes a look at its market needs, and it says, “You know what? We need 700,000 foreign workers to address our labor needs domestically.” And, so, they build a visa system for that year to address the current market condition. And they say, “We’re going to bring in a million people.” And it’s market-sensitive.

We [in the United States] are dealing with numerical caps on labor-driven visas that were set in 1996. It’s 2024. The world has changed. It is remarkable how there can be [elite] agreement that [the visas system] is broken and not have an agreement on a solution. The country is suffering as a result of it.

Living standards in Canada have been wrecked by the high-migration policies pushed by former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Under Biden, Mayorkas imported roughly 10 million inadmissible migrants. The inflow suppressed wages, spiked housing costs, inflated the stock market, reduced births — and also helped Trump get elected on a mandate to deport millions of illegal migrants.

Deportations officers have changed how they arrest illegal migrants, successfully expanding detention numbers while deflating media outrage and nullifying activist protests, the New York Times complains.

Starting in June, the numbers of illegals arrested and detained for deportation proceedings soared to close to 50,000 arrests per month — with August even exceeding that number — however, the violent protests seen last year were oddly absent from the media during the summer surge. It wasn’t because supporters of illegals tired of the pursuit, but because Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) made an important and effective change in its deployment policies in pursuit of fulfilling the president’s 2024 election mandate to implement mass deportations.

The change in tactics gave lower priority to the fixed bases in big cities that were giving left-wingers tempting targets for mounting protests, instead sending ICE officers out into the wider countryside to confront illegals.

ICE officers turned up in small towns, at suburban construction sites, truck stops, laundromats, outside airports, hospitals, near schools, and more. They raided both small and large businesses and fanned out to nearly every state, from desert towns in Arizona, the plains of Wyoming, and throughout the south, the New York Times recently reported.

David Bier, director of immigration studies at the Cato Institute, said that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) deployed several new tactics that gave the left fewer opportunities to grandstand.

“This gradual rise everywhere all at once, through a lot of means, is enabling the operation to fly under the radar,” he told the Times.

The shift made for fewer raucous headlines in the news media, but still very quietly allowed the Department of Homeland Security to pump up its deportation numbers. DHS added in a statement, “This is promises made and promises kept in action. The results speak for themselves.”

ICE also made much greater use of its cooperative agreements with local law enforcement agencies all across the country instead of launching high profile named operations in deep blue cities where extremist, pro-illegal migrant groups are primarily located.

Arrest numbers soared in states that had not yet seen large-scale operations, including Oregon, Montana, Hawaii, New Mexico, Vermont, and New Jersey.

In June, DHS highlighted the fact that deportation flights had reached a record high.

“DEPORTATION FLIGHTS AT A RECORD HIGH,” DHS wrote in a post on X, replying to a post in which the Washington Examiner shared that nearly 900,000 illegal aliens have been deported since the start of the Trump administration in January 2025.

DHS added that the American people gave the Trump administration a “mandate to arrest and remove criminal illegal aliens,” adding that under President Donald Trump and DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, the agency would “continue to deliver.”

“Our message is clear: LEAVE NOW or we will find you, arrest you, and deport you,” the post on X added.
