Has your campaign addressed the topic of illegal immigration in speeches, commercials, ads, or campaign materials? What are those messages? (Please provide sources or examples)
Not yet. If asked, my position is that we provide a process for immigration. The critical part of that process is to make our best effort to immigrate people who are favorable to the content of our Bill of Rights. It doesn’t make sense to allow people in this country who reject the atmosphere of liberty and (relative) tolerance that has differentiated this country from most others. I am scheduled to debate Senator Dodd in two televised debates in which this question (or the question of outsourcing overseas – which I will turn toward this issue) is likely to be asked.
What do you feel your opponent’s stance on illegal immigration or immigration reform is or would be?
Senator Dodd has, in recent year, co-sponsoring several bills to provide amnesty for illegal aliens, to repeal the ban on educational benefits, etc. Ironically, he has also co-sponsored legislation to restrict legal immigration. See http://profiles.numbersusa.com/improfil ... &VIPID=148.
