    Short Answer

Has your campaign addressed the topic of illegal immigration in speeches, commercials, ads, or campaign materials? What are those messages? (Please provide sources or examples) Yes, to a certain extent. I am an advocate of health care for all, and acknowledge that ‘all’ includes illegal immigrants with the possible exception of those coming across the border just for health care. The following is cut and pasted from my website (BobHagenmaier.com). Go to Issues, then to Immigrants: I am a fourth generation American and my wife is an immigrant. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that I accept the principle that immigrants should be treated with dignity and respect. I also accept the principle that every country should have the right to accept or reject candidates for admission and citizenship. The current debate about immigrants seems to be about how to reconcile these two principles in making policy.
The AgJobs bill makes a reasonable effort in this direction. This bill enables undocumented farm workers to earn legal permanent status if they have been working in the U.S. and continue to work in agriculture for a period of time. It also reforms the existing agricultural guest worker program, the H-2A temporary foreign agricultural worker program . If elected, I would support this bill, which is endorsed by the Florida Citrus Mutual, by the Coalition of Florida Farmworker Organizations, and twelve other Florida citrus and labor organizations . Unfortunately, however, this bill only applies to farm workers. More ideas are needed for what to do about other immigrants. Do you have any suggestions?

What do you feel your opponent’s stance on illegal immigration or immigration reform is or would be?
    6. Adam Putnam voted against extending immigrant residency.

Have you been endorsed by or received contributions from any other immigration reform or illegal immigration reduction groups at this time? No.

Would you openly accept an endorsement and or contribution from ALIPAC? Yes.

Let me add here a comment in my own words, rather than as a response to questions.
I think it important to control our borders because the present situation is chaos. However, I conclude that it is not currently possible to do so, because it seems to me that we do not have the technology to control our borders. Therefore I think we should do something that we are not technically capable of doing. That may sound strange, but I think it accurately describes the current situation. How to control our borders and at the same time treat immigrants with due consideration for their human dignity and needs is a very difficult problem that I do not have any great insight into how to solve.
