www.ircot.com

YOUR CALLS URGENTLY NEEDED TO GET
HB 276 OUT OF HOUSE CALENDARS
COMMITTEE & SCHEDULED FOR HOUSE FLOOR DEBATE ON 5/14/09

5/11/09 (Austin, TX)

The "powers-that-be" in the Texas Legislature would prefer not to act on controversial issues this session -- in particular that includes illegal immigration. Unless they hear from you "in mass" they will win and your families will continue to be burdened with the growing cost of providing services to illegal aliens.

Even worse, your families will remain unprotected from the increasing criminal illegal alien population that kill and injure Texans every day. TIME IS RUNNING OUT -- WE NEED YOU TO BE ENGAGED, NOW!

IRCOT is focusing on two bills that are still in play at this time: HB 276 (pertaining to reporting costs of services to illegal aliens) and SB358 (relating to ending Texas "sanctuary city" policies).

HB 276 MUST BE SCHEDULED FOR DEBATE ON THE HOUSE FLOOR BY 5/14/09 WHICH MEANS IT MUST GET OUT OF CALENDARS BY 5/12/09!!!

PLEASE CONTACT CALENDARS COMMITTEE MEMBERS TODAY & TOMORROW!!

Please contact all the Calendars Committee Members (CALLS ARE QUICKEST -- see #'s below) and ask them to "vote HB 276 out of committee immediately upon receipt & schedule it for a House floor debate on 5/14/08." PLEASE FORWARD THIS ALERT TO YOUR TEXAS CONTACTS.

HB 276- (Zerwas) Relating to the requirement that state agencies report the cost of services and benefits provided to unlawful immigrants.

TALKING POINTS:

"Texans deserve to know how their tax dollars are being spent and how much money is being spent providing services to the Texas illegal alien population. For the sake of transparency, this bill needs to be passed."

"There can be no intelligent debate on illegal immigration in Texas until we know how much money is being spent on that segment of our population."

"Many U.S. citizens residing in Texas require assistance due to high job loss rates. Assistance programs were designed for use by citizens and they are increasingly being accessed by illegal aliens taking services away from needy citizens."

"It was recently revealed that the Texas Medicaid program would run $1Billion short. Many illegal aliens receive benefits and services which are paid for out of emergency Medicaid dollars. That money needs to be spent on services for U.S. citizens residing in Texas."
