Monday hearing on a bill that would give in-state tuition to illegal aliens.
Monday, April 13, at 1:00 p.m. in Hearing Room E in the State Capitol building in Salem, Oregon.
The House Education Committee will hear the bill.
House Bill 2939, which would “consider a student who is not a citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the U.S. to be a resident of this state [for purpose of determining tuition and fees at state institutions of higher education] â€Check your credit report regularly, an illegal may be using your Social Security number.

SALEM — A House committee reignited an immigration controversy today, opening debate on a bill that would let graduates from Oregon high schools go on to pay in-state tuition, regardless if they are in the United States legally.
The hearing on House Bill 2939 opens the fourth campaign in eight years to extend in-state tuition rates to Oregon high school graduates who aren’t citizens or legal U.S. residents. Students promoting HB 2939 said they’re aware that past legislatures have resisted earlier efforts, but said they hoped to win approval this time around.
