This Friday, October 10, American Border Patrol, a non-profit Arizona Corporation, will present results of its aerial survey of the border fence that challenge claims by the Department of Homeland Security. The press conference will be held at the Marriott University Park Hotel in Tucson at 10:00 a.m.
Between September 29 and October 2, ABP performed an aerial survey of the border from Fabens Texas to the Pacific Ocean at San Diego. Using a specially equipped Cessna TU-206, ABP videotaped the entire border in HD from an altitude of 500 feet. Hundreds of still photos were taken linked to GPS coordinates. These data were used in Google Earth to develop maps of border fence locations.
ABP has been performing these surveys on a bi-monthly basis since early 2007.
ABP will present detailed results of the survey and will explain why it is challenging claims made by the DHS regarding the amount if fencing it has constructed.
The conflict between DHS and ABP first surfaced in a front-page story in the Sierra Vista Herald last Sunday, October 5.
'It is important for the American People to know the truth about the border fence and how much security they really have," said Glenn Spencer, head of ABP.
