Central American Migrants, Unable to Get Asylum in the U.S., Marry Mexicans

Some Central American migrants are marrying Mexicans to regularize their immigration status in Mexico, according to Gladys Canas. president of a migrant aid organization in Matamoros (the Mexican city opposite Brownsville, Texas) called Helping Them Succeed.


According to Canas, migrants from El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala waiting in Mexico for their U.S. asylum hearings began marrying Mexican citizens to acquire residency in Mexico. Not wanting to return home after their asylum claims are almost certainly rejected, some migrants initiated the steps to marry before their asylum claims in the U.S. were fully processed.


"So far in February, we have had 50 couples asking for reports on the requirements for marriage," Canas said.


Enrique Maciel Cervantes, an official with Mexico's National Migration Institute, said the wait time for a foreign national to obtain residency after they marry a Mexican citizen is short. "In two months a migrant is given their permanent residence in Mexico, and in a span of five years they can be a naturalized Mexican citizen."

So long as they STAY in Mexcio they can have at it.

Their countries are very hard to change. It's essentially trying to perform a revolution unarmed against enemies that have top tier weaponry and large budgets while trying not to starve.

With no backup, no supply lines, against well armed and well protected governments like those of central America. The literal criminals aren't in the government, they are the government.

Those at the top are not going to give up their good lives without a serious fight. The drug smugglers and various other villains wont want change to threaten their lucrative interests and so they form a secondary irregular army which is free to harass and intimidate poor subsistence farmers.

Its like the bad part of the detroit but country wide. I read an article where a subsistence farmer had managed to scrounge up enough to save up and start a little shop and the local street gangs showed up and threatened them with death if they didn't pay a "protection fee."

So to recap:
In that situation they can't go to the law enforcement, because the law enforcement is on the criminal's payroll.

There is no federal government to go to because the federal government is on the criminal's payroll.

They can't leave the area and switch to another location because in the entire country there are criminals on the payroll and would eventually find them and murder them.

In addition many of these people are very poor subsistence farmers, who scrape out a meager living from the soil.

It's all a very sad very terrible situation and so of course to avoid death they will try to escape the hellholes of central america.

Nations so bad and rotten that Mexico is an improvement.
Build the wall, solving nation's deep deep issues is not something the United States should do.

Build the Wall, deport them all, I do not give a damn.

Keep them all out.

They bring their "hell" here.

We are not the dumping ground or ATM machine for the worlds problems.

Those women give birth like a Pez dispenser and their children grow up in gangs. Get on birth control.

They come here and RUN from the very gangs THEY gave birth to and they are pregnant with more of them. It is disgusting.

Form their own militia and start taking out the bad ones!
