Urgent: Last chance for Ramos and Compean...Bush sells out again

Dear Friend,

Last August, Pigs flew when the George Bush-the chief law enforcement officer in the country-had the novel idea of enforcing out laws. He issued an executive order requiring that all federal contractors who profit off our tax dollars prove that they aren't hiring illegal aliens through E-Verify. Better late than never, I thought.

The executive order was supposed to take effect today, but the Chamber of Commerce and their friends sued to place an injunction against the order. After meeting with the Chamber, Bush delayed its implementation until February 20th. According to the Chamber spokesman this will give Obama "an opportunity to re-evaluate the efficacy of the policy." We all know exactly what that means: Bush is skirting his responsibility, and giving Obama the green light to ignore our laws!

This is even more reprehensible because Obama's stimulus package would hand over hundreds of billions of dollars-maybe more-to federal contractors!

According to the Chamber, " the last thing American businesses need during these difficult economic times is more bureaucracy and higher compliance costs." Actually, the last thing Americans need in this time is our scarce jobs going to illegal aliens. E-Verify is a free system, so the only "compliance cost" is that employers can't undercut wages by hiring illegals.

While Bush doesn't want to penalize lawbreakers, he has no problem punishing the brave men who enforce our laws on the dangerous US Mexican Border. Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean will rot in a cell for the next ten years if Bush does not pardon them. You already know the story: Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean were in pursuit of drug dealer Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila who was smuggling over 700 pounds of marijuana. Davila shot at them and they fired back hitting him in the leg. Davila was given immunity and filed a five million dollar lawsuit for "civil rights violations."

You may not know how the travesties have piled up since then. We have record drug violence on the Borders, so there's no excuse for not appreciating the dangers our Border Agents face. The agents have been viciously beaten by the real criminals in jail who do not take kindly to law enforcement. As Ramos and Compean suffer, the drug dealer who shot at them walked free. He went back to his criminal ways and was arrested again for smuggling hundreds of pounds of drugs into the country, but given a slap on the wrist. Despite pleas from hundreds of thousands of Americans, Bush hasn't pardoned Ramos and Compean , but he has no problem pardoning several drug dealers!

Well it's literally the 11th hour for Ramos and Compean. If they are not pardoned by Bush they will waste away in jail for the next decade. President Bush has one last chance to do the right thing to make up for his eight years of flaunting our immigration laws. Call the White House today at (202) 456-1111 and demand that he pardon Agents Ramos and Compean.

Ask Bush to end on a high note, and we will use that momentum to bring our fight to Obama.

Thanks for all you're doing.

Bay
