Tomorrow, we will start running our radio ads in support of Hazleton Hero Lou Barletta, but I wanted to give you a sneak peak today.

I hope you like the ad, but it is essential that the people in Pennsylvania's 11th Congressional District get a chance to hear it. We have already bought 35,000 dollars worth of air time-- that's over 1,300 ads-- but we need to buy more. Our goal is to play the ad 2,500 times before election night.

I know times are tight, but If you have the means, please contribute to this important cause. It costs only 26 dollars to get one ad on the air.

Barletta campaign denies ties to ad

The Lou Barletta for Congress campaign says it had nothing to do with a radio advertisement that plays mariachi music while bashing his opponent’s stance on illegal immigration.

The ad, which began airing on radio stations in the 11th Congressional District on Thursday, is from the Team America political action committee. It is not endorsed or authorized by the Barletta campaign, representatives for both Barletta and Team America said.

The one-minute spot accuses incumbent U.S. Rep. Paul Kanjorski of voting to give amnesty, Social Security funds, bank loans and the right to vote to illegal aliens, as mariachi music plays in the background.

The chairman of the Kanjorski campaign could not be reached for comment Friday. A representative from Kanjorski’s office sent a list of Kanjorski’s votes on illegal immigration issues, as well as past statement from the congressman in which he said, “I have consistently supported legislation to secure our borders and enforce our current federal immigration laws.â€
