NEW NumbersUSA FAX's DREAM Act Amnesty!
Urge your Congressman to Oppose the DREAM Act Amnesty!
Rep. Connie Mack
317 Cannon HOB, US House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515
Dear Representative Mack:
There are more than 12 million unemployed Americans. With this in mind, I find it appalling that some Congressmen are working to pass the DREAM Act amnesty. This will mark the first time you will have to make a decision on amnesty and I expect you to oppose this bill.
The DREAM Act is not a small amnesty for a select group of individuals. It provides an illegal "teenager" (i.e., anyone under 30) with an opportunity to legalize their parents, leading eventually to their whole extended family (aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins) coming to the United States.
In 2007, the big argument in support of this amnesty was to protect teenagers who are here illegally because their parents broke the law. Despite the under 30 years age requirement, this amnesty will apply to more than just teens because "humanitarian" and "family unity" exceptions were added to the age limit. Nonetheless, the underlying argument maintains that the teenagers should not be punished for the crimes of their parents.
However, as soon as these DREAM Act amnestied citizens are over 21, they can request to bring in or legalize their parents, the same people who broke the law to get them into the country in the first place. Furthermore, due to chain migration, the amnestied "teens" can petition to bring in their extended family (aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents) as well. In other words, the chief criminals will be rewarded.
This a back-door amnesty for the parents of these illegal "teens," and a chain migration nightmare for our country. I am sure you will agree that the DREAM Act would only make matters worse for America.
The DREAM Act will be the first amnesty bill you will face in Congress. You will probably be put under immeasurable pressure from pro-illegal alien and anti-American worker interest groups to support this amnesty. You must resist these calls because the vast majority of your constituents will regard any support for this amnesty as a stand against unemployed Americans.
Unable to comprehend your actions,
XXXXXXXXX
P.S. I have heard rumors that you are sponsoring the DREAM Act amnesty. Please tell me this is a mistake, as the DREAM Act would create a giant permanent rolling amnesty that would harm tens of millions of Americans. How could you even contemplate supporting such an amnesty without first mandating the use of E-Verify?
