NumbersUSA Calls for Assistance to Defeat Ag Bill Amnesty

You've probably heard by now that Senator Larry Craig is planning to offer
his AgJOBS amnesty bill, S. 359, as an amendment to the Iraq Supplemental
funding bill when it comes to the floor either late this week or early next
week. If Sen. Craig is allowed to offer this amnesty amendment, it is
likely that it will pass. It would be difficult for House conferees to
remove the amnesty in its entirety from the supplemental. It also is
unlikely that the House would vote down the conference report, even if it
included AgJOBS, because no one wants to delay funding for our troops.

NumbersUSA is doing everything we can think of to stop Sen. Craig from
offering the amendment in the first place. We're also working hard to
convince Senators to vote against AgJOBS if it is offered. We need your
    help, though.

We would like to put together a list of all the organizations across the
country that oppose the AgJOBS amnesty. The list won't help us convince the
Senate that the vast majority of their constituents oppose the bill unless
it includes well over 100 organizations from every part of the country.
This email is being sent to around 90 organizations-all we have been able to
identify-so we have a ways to go.

We are asking two things of your organization:

    1. Can we have your permission to add your organization's name to the
list of groups that oppose AgJOBS? The list will be just that-a simple,
alphabetical list of each group that gives us permission to list it, and
NumbersUSA will distribute it to every Senate office immediately, and then
to House and Senate conferees, if necessary (i.e., if AgJOBS passes and goes
to conference). In case you need more information, I've attached a short
description of the AgJOBS amnesty. Additional information about AgJOBS is
available on our website at: http://www.numbersusa.com/hottopic/AGJOBS.htm.

    2. Would you pass this email along to every other organization you know
about that is likely to oppose the AgJOBS amnesty and ask them to add their
    names to the list, too?

Since time is of the essence-the Iraq Supplemental could come to the Senate
floor as early as Thursday- we would appreciate a response from you as soon
as possible. Please reply to Mike Frohlich at Michael@numbersusa.com or
just hit reply and let us know if we can add your group's name to the list.

Thank you for helping us stop another amnesty!

    Mr. Frohlich:

Thank you for contacting us about this issue. Americans for Legal
Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) has been gearing up to work against this amnesty
attempt. NumbersUSA is doing exactly what our movement needs by reaching
out to work with other organizations on this matter.

In the spirit of improved communications and cooperation, I am activating
our ALIPAC Action Network on this issue and will post your message to our
site, notify our members and the other organizations we are in contact
    with.

    Fellow immigration reform leaders:

I just received a message from NumbersUSA and they are calling for assistance to defeat the attempted Ag Bill Amnesty.

You can read the message and ALIPAC's response at this link.

    http://www.alipac.us/ftopict-1367.html

We have agreed to assist and we are activating our ALIPAC Action Network to spread the word. Most of you have heard me speak of the need for greater communication and cooperation among immigration reform groups.

I'd like to point out that NumbersUSA request for coalition on this matter is one of the first such invites we have received from a national organization. Other organizations have asked other groups to support what they are doing, but I feel NumbersUSA's invite to coalate is the way things should be done.

This has been part of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC's stance since the begining. I hope that you will assist NumbersUSA by forwarding this information and joining the battle to defeat this amnesty attempt.

Our issue is on fire across the nation now and heading for a critical mass. Let's all work together to show these politicians what we can do when we are united.
