Tedisco race down to wire; Obama's latest La Raza appointmen

Tedisco race down to the wire...Obama's latest La Raza appointment

    Dear Friend,

In New York's 20th District, the choice between Team America Candidate Jim Tedisco and Democrat Scott Murphy just got even easier.

We already know that Jim is a solid candidate. He opposes amnesty under any name. He also opposes flooding our country with new foreign workers. He has a proven record in the New York State Assembly where he blocked Eliot Spitzer's plan to give driver's licenses to illegal aliens

Murphy, on the other hand, has been silent on immigration until recently. Nine times out of ten, when a candidate doesn't talk about an issue, it's because he knows the public won't like what he has to say. Murphy is no exception. When pressed last week, he said he supported "comprehensive immigration reform" and a "path to citizenship." On top of that, he called for creating more guest worker programs that, according to the local newspaper, would "allow foreigners who don't want to become Americans to work here."

With unemployment at a 25 year high, the last thing we need is a candidate who promotes amnesty and says he wants to invite foreign workers!

Jim holds a narrow lead over Murphy, and the election is in just one week. We need to provide Jim's campaign with some last-minute support.

Also, I wanted to give you an update about Obama's pick for the head of the Civil Rights Bureau. I told you a few weeks ago that he was planning to tap MALDEF attorney Thomas Saenz. Well, Obama dropped Saenz, but his replacement Tom Perez is just as bad. Perez served on the board of the open borders National Immigration Forum. He also was on the board of a group called CASA de Maryland, an affiliate organization of the National Council of La Raza.

In spite of this the amnesty advocates are still furious that Obama didn't pick Saenz. There are two lessons we can learn from this. The first is that the open borders lobby will never be happy. Give them a La Raza pick, and they'll still complain. The second is that we are having an effect on Obama. Today the New York Times worried that the rejection of Saenz gives "immigrant advocates ... the sinking feeling that Mr. Obama's supposed enthusiasm for immigration reform will wilt under pressure and heat."

Let's get ready to put Obama in a pressure cooker. Sending Jim Tedisco to Congress instead over an open borders Democrat will be a great start!

    Thanks

    Obama Flinches on Immigration
In a little-noticed act of political faintheartedness, the Obama administration has pulled back from nominating Thomas Saenz, a highly regarded civil-rights lawyer and counsel to the mayor of Los Angeles, to run the Justice Department’s civil rights division.

Mr. Saenz, the former top litigator in Los Angeles for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, or Maldef, was privately offered the job in January. The floating of his name led to fierce outbursts from anti-immigrant groups and blogs, which detest him for being so good at what he does.

He was a leader of the successful fight to block California’s Proposition 187, an unconstitutional effort to deny social services and schooling to illegal immigrants. He has defended Latino day laborers who were targets of misguided local crackdowns, from illegal police stings to unconstitutional anti-solicitation ordinances. An editorial in Investor’s Business Daily slimed Mr. Saenz by calling him “an open-borders extremistâ€
