‘I’m sober and licensed - can someone else drive?’

From the Clear Creek Sheriff’s Office:

‘I’m sober and licensed - can someone else drive?’

CLEAR CREEK COUNTY — A deputy had his cruiser parked just off U.S. 40 and was perusing the passing traffic for signs of busted taillights, erratic driving, and good old-fashioned Heavy Foot Syndrome.

The vehicle coming his way seemed to navigate turns a bit awkwardly, and was clearly mocking the speed limit signs by a good 15 to 20 mph. Its lights seemed fine, but as Meat Loaf so eloquently professed, two out of three aren’t bad.

The dep clicked on his cherry reds and in-the-face blues, and soon the car pulled off to the shoulder. The driver had no license, registration or proof that he was in good hands with Allstate.

What he did have was a Mexican ID card, which indicated, through the wonders of dispatch, that his license was suspended due to multiple citations.

The deputy checked the status of the New Mexico license handed over by the car’s single passenger and, as is so often the case, this person was fully able to drive. No tickets, no warrants, no Paris Hilton breath, clean as a whistle. But it’s more exciting to have the really bad driver behind the wheel, right? The motorist was fitted with the shiny connecting bracelets — also from the Paris Hilton collection — and hauled off to the county clink.

The passenger, he of the valid, yet grossly neglected license, got to show off his prowess: both at driving and at being a free man.

At least somebody finally got him off the street, albeit temporarily. Here's a copy of his legal driver's license.
