Seven women and three men in their 20s were taken into custody Saturday by Palm Beach police after a boat was found beached south of the Lake Worth Pier about 7 a.m.
Some of the 10 people taken into custody had Chinese passports. They were turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol.
“The persons we found were wet and sandy,” said Palm Beach Police Capt. Tom Melnichok. “They did not speak English.”
The boat washed ashore around 7 a.m. at 3440 S. Ocean Blvd., a resident told police. It was described as a 25-foot-long T-top with two outboard engines.
Police found life preservers on the sand and in the boat, plus four women and three men in the area.
At about 5 p.m., they found three more women.
The boat remains on the beach, Melnichok said.
Police continued to search between the 2800 and 3400 blocks of South Ocean Boulevard for more people who may have been on the boat.
Anyone with information should call (561) 838-5454.
