CHICAGO -- Twelve people were arrested after a protest halted traffic in Chicago's Loop Tuesday morning.

A group of protesters gathered at Congress and LaSalle just before 8 a.m. and blocked traffic for about an hour. Traffic is now moving again.

The protesters were calling for the dismantling of ICE, or the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The hashtag #stoptheraids was trending on Twitter in Chicago during the protest.

Initial reports indicate that about 100 people were gathered for the protest. Several people were sitting or laying down in the street, chained together. Officials on the scene had to break the chains to make arrests.

This is a developing story. Check back for details.
