Border Patrol finds 11 immigrants hiding in onion shipment

Border Patrol apprehended 11 immigrants Thursday morning at the Falfurrias checkpoint, where agents found them hiding in a tractor-trailer loaded with onions.

A K-9 alerted to a tractor-trailer passing through the checkpoint, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

During secondary inspection, agents discovered 11 immigrants hiding between pallets of onions. The immigrants weren’t legally present in the United States.
Agents arrested the driver and seized the tractor-trailer. Customs and Border Protection didn’t identify the driver.
