    A summary of Border Patrol activities in the Tucson Sector since Saturday, provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

    Arrests

    Naco Station agents apprehended a 34-year-old male from Jalisco, Mexico, on Saturday for illegally entering the United States. During processing, agents discovered he has convictions in Oregon for third-degree sexual abuse in 1996, multiple DUI offenses, failure to register as a sex offender, and a conviction in 1997 for attempted sexual battery and burglary in Virginia. Records also showed he was previously removed from the United States. He was held for prosecution for illegal re-entry of an aggravated felon.

    Casa Grande Station agents apprehended a 49-year-old Mexican national for illegal entry Sunday. During processing, agents discovered the subject was convicted of second-degree murder in California in 1997 and sentenced to six years in prison. After serving the sentence he was removed through El Centro, Calif. He was held for prosectution for illegal re-entry of an aggravated felon.

    Ajo Station agents apprehended a 22-year-old man from Jalisco, Mexico, on Monday in the West Desert for illegally entering the United States. During processing, the man admitted to being a Sureno 13 gang member and record checks revealed he was convicted as a juvenile and served more than seven years for aggravated assault and assisting a criminal street gang. Records also showed he was removed from the United States in February through Nogales. He was held for prosecution for re-entry of an aggravated felon.

    On Monday, Casa Grande agents apprehended a 25-year-old Mexican national in the West Desert for illegally entering the United States. During processing, agents identified tattoos indicating the man was a member of the Sureño street gang. Records showed he was convicted of second-degree robbery causing physical injury and sentenced to more than two years in prison in Queens County, N.Y. He was ordered removed through Harlingen, Texas, in May. He was held for prosecution for re-entry of an aggravated felon.

    Also on Monday, Casa Grande agents apprehended a 29-year-old man from Mexico for illegally entering the United States. Record checks revealed he had a prior conviction in Santa Barbara, Calif., for sex with a minor 3 years or younger in 2002. He was sentenced to 60 months probation and 186 days in prison. He was previously removed from the United States through the San Ysidro, Calif., in 2002. He was held for prosecution for illegal re-entry.

    Seizures

    Ajo agents working in the West Desert on Saturday discovered tire tracks that led to an abandoned SUV concealed with a camouflage tarp. Agents found 105 bundles of marijuana, weighing 2,039 pounds and worth $1,019,500. The vehicle and narcotics were seized and transported to the Ajo Station for processing.

    Casa Grande Station agents were tracking movements Monday and found a loaded, 30-round AR-15 magazine. The magazine and ammunition were taken to the Tucson Border Patrol Station for processing.

    Rescue

    Casa Grande agents responded to rescue beacon Saturday morning in the West Desert and encountered two Mexican nationals who said they had crossed into the United States three days before. They were taken to the Casa Grande Station for processing and removal.

    5 years of PROBATION, 1/2 year +a day in prison???? For raping a child less than 3? What left minded judge handed out this sentence???? This is the kind of scum some would welcome with open arms?

    5 criminal immigrants apprehended in Ariz. desert

    TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona Border Patrol agents say they've apprehended five people with extensive criminal histories over the weekend.

    The five men all were apprehended separately in various areas of the desert, from Casa Grande to Ajo.

    They include a 34-year-old man from Jalisco, Mexico who was convicted in Oregon in 1996 for sexual abuse and multiple drunken-driving offenses. He also was convicted in 1997 in Virginia for attempted sexual battery and burglary.

    Another man, a 49-year-old, was convicted of second-degree murder in California in 1997 and served six years in prison.

    The other men had convictions that included sexual assault of a child under 3 years old, aggravated assault, assisting a criminal street gang and robbery.

    All of the men were being held on charges of illegal re-entry of an aggravated felon.
