Police arrested two suspects Sunday following a shooting at a West Adams home that killed three and left another 12 injured.

Mowayne McKay, 33, and Diego Reid, 25, both Jamaican nationals, have been booked on suspicion of murder, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The incident broke out Saturday at about 12:30 a.m. at a resident in the 2900 block of Rimpau Street where a birthday party was being held, officials said.

About 50 people were at the residence, which also served as a makeshift, non-permitted restaurant, when a dispute broke out between a male and McKay and Reid, one of whom pulled out a handgun and shot the other party, according to a police press release.

Other individuals at the party allegedly responded by producing their own firearms and shooting indiscriminately into the crowd, including some apparent shots on the suspects.

Ultimately 15 people were shot, nine males and six females, police said. Three were pronounced dead at the scene, including the man who began the argument with McKay and Reid.

Most other victims have been released from the hospital, but one male remains under treatment in extremely critical condition, authorities said.

McKay and Reid had initially fled on foot. Police did not say how they were captured, or provide further details on the “persons of interest” it said it had detained yesterday.

The initial shooter and at least one other associate, who is also believed to have fired in the crowd, fled the scene on foot.
The names of the victims have not been released pending identification and notification of next-of-kin.
