Border Patrol Arrests Alien from Dominican Republic Wanted for a Double Murder

AGUADILLA, Puerto Rico –Ramey Station Border Patrol agents arrested Monday an alien from the Dominican Republic wanted for a double murder.


On Jan. 29, an Air and Marine Operations (AMO) marine patrol aircraft detected a makeshift “yola” type vessel navigating east towards Puerto Rico. The AMO aircraft directed a US Coast Guard cutter to intercept finding thirty-seven (37) illegal aliens from the Dominican Republic, 31 males, 5 females and 1 juvenile.


On board the cutter, biometric review of the aliens revealed that six aliens had prior immigration and criminal records, being transported to the Mayaguez port of entry where Border Patrol Agents made the arrests.


Border Patrol agents found that Milton Enrique Lirirano, 34, is wanted by authorities in the Dominican Republic as a suspect of a double murder.


Mr. Liriano appeared Tuesday before a U.S. Magistrate Judge for an initial appearance, for violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326, for re-entry after a previous deportation.


If convicted, Mr. Liriano faces imprisonment for not more than 2 years, or a fine, or both. Potential extradition to the Dominican Republic is pending.


All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.


The Ramey Sector is one of the twenty-one Sectors spread out across the United States. Encompassing the U.S. territorial islands of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, it is the only Border Patrol Sector located outside the continental United States. The Sector's entire border area is made up of coastline and its area of responsibility consisting of almost 6,000 square miles of land and water area, including the twelve-mile band of territorial water surrounding the Islands.
