2 tons of pot seized by Yuma Sector Border Patrol

Yuma Sector Border makes a huge drug bust on Thursday by using a combination of infrastructure, technology, and personnel.

At about 9:30 A.M., agents say the stopped two vehicles that were carrying over two tons of marijuana.

With the assistance of the Yuma Sector Remote Video Surveillance System (RVSS) and a CBP Air and Marine helicopter, agents interdicted the two trucks.

The vehicles illegally entered the United States along the Colorado River south of Yuma, Arizona, and breached one of the Salinity Canal gates.

Yuma Sector RVSS operators immediately alerted Border Patrol agents, who responded to the area and intercepted the vehicles as they traveled along the levee.




The smugglers abandoned their vehicles and fled back to Mexico as agents closed in.

Responding officers from the Los Algodones, Baja California Police Department apprehended two individuals in Mexico a short time later.

Agents recovered 327 bundles of marijuana from both vehicles, with a combined weight of 4,010 pounds and an estimated value of $3,208,000.00.

The vehicles and marijuana were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
